No Badge Sale for SDCC 2021

by Transmute Jun

Many pop culture conventions were canceled in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic, but for many, none was more heartbreaking than San Diego Comic Con (SDCC). Comic Con International (CCI) gave badgeholders the option to receive a full refund or roll their badges over to the 2021 show. An unofficial poll on FoCC showed that more than 97% of our members chose the rollover option.

Previously, CCI had announced the possibility of a fall badge sale for SDCC 2021, but they now state on their website that due to continued uncertainty regarding holding mass gatherings, as well as high numbers of 2020 attendees who rolled over their badges, there will be no badge sale for SDCC 2021.  Obviously, attendees who rolled over their 2020 badges still have those badges for next year’s event.

Unfortunately, this means that those who were unable to obtain a badge for the 2020 show will now have to wait until 2022 to attend SDCC.
