The Expanse Renewed for Sixth and Final Season

By Miclpea

Amazon Prime Video Studios gave viewers of The Expanse bittersweet news today. The Expanse has been renewed for a sixth and final season. For the fans of the novels and television series, there is the final trio of books- Persepolis Rising, Tiamat’s Wrath, and Leviathan Falls-which may or may not be covered in some fashion in the future. At this time there is not a definitive answer.

This is the second cancellation for the series after its initial cancellation by SYFY Channel at the end of the third season. However, a massive outpouring by fans worldwide saved The Expanse when Jeff Bezos announced at the International Space Development Conference that Amazon had picked up the series.

Fans are hoping that there will be a true closure to the series, which incorporates the final three novels; however, at press time, neither Amazon nor Alcon has provided any word about how the series will be resolved. For the moment, fans can look forward to Season 5 starting on December 16 and hopefully Season 6 in 2021.
