Next Two Weeks in TV 12/20 & 12/27: May Your Days be Filled With Wonder Woman 1984, Doctor Who, and More!

By Scott C. & DRWHO42

So, here we are with the last TV article in 2020. As such, where did the time go? Yet, with 2020 being quite the year for all of us, perhaps it is a good thing that this year is ending soon. Frankly, this Covid-19 pandemic sucks, no doubt about it. But with two highly-effective Covid-19 vaccines currently hitting the market so quickly (which Operation Warp Speed made possible; and many determined to end the nightmare as well), and more vaccines to come from other companies. Maybe we all can get together at a comic con (safely!) sometime next year, and life gets better soon overall. Just keep crossing those fingers, everyone. Anything could happen between now or later.

As for the next few weeks on TV, which is the main reason why you all are here, so here are a few shows and movies you should check out.

And let’s begin with Christmas Day (December 25th), and wow, does this holiday have a few things to check out! For instance, HBO Max will have Wonder Woman 1984 (so will select theaters opened across the U.S.), the sequel to 2017’s Wonder Woman movie. The sequel film is directed by Patty Jenkins, with Gal Gadot starring as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman once again. Also in it is Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen, and the Mandalorian himself, Pedro Pascal. Overall, if you have HBO Max, you are good to go to watch the new movie in your own home for a month without an additional charge.

Over on Disney+, the Mouse will have two things to watch: the animated movie Soul by Pixar and the one-hour documentary special Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian – Making of Season 2Soul has Jamie Foxx as Joe Gardner with Tina Fey, Daveed Diggs, Richard Ayoade, and Sam Lavagnino. The Mandalorian documentary is, well, all about the show’s second season. In general, the second season of The Mandalorian was quite something to watch! Now, is it the best ongoing series thus far? Perhaps, but we’ll leave that up to you to answer that question.

On Sunday night, December 27th, Epix’s Pennyworth series hits its winter break after airing back-to-back episodes, with the winter finale airing at 10 p.m. ET. Hopefully, this winter break is not a long one.

On Monday, December 28th, the BBC and HBO series His Dark Materials sees its second season conclude on HBO at 9 p.m. ET. So far, there has been no official word regarding a third season renewal. (Update 12/22/20: There is a third season officially coming, after all.)

Then we have Vikings concluding its run on Amazon Prime and Transformers: War for Cybertron second season debuting on Netflix. Both are watchable on the morning of Wednesday, December 30th.

On Thursday morning, December 31st, Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina concludes its series run for good.

As always, New Year’s Eve will have plenty of programming to check out to ring in the new year. The listing below will be your guide to celebrate all things 2021.

Last but not least, New Year’s Day (Friday, January 1st, 2021) has a timeless treat for all Doctor Who fans everywhere in the U.S. Airing on BBC America at 8 p.m. ET, be sure to watch Doctor Who: Revolution of the Daleks holiday special. Yes, Jodie Whittaker is back playing as the Doctor.

So, what will you be watching these next two weeks? As always, do let us know what you’ll be watching when visiting the FoCC forum. Also don’t forget that the rest of the TV schedule is listed below. Of course, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We will see you all in 2021.
