Next Week in TV 1/24: All Aboard the ‘Snowpiercer’ Again, Aliens are Among us in ‘Resident Alien’, and More!

By Scott C. & DRWHO42

Another new television week is here TV fans, and overall, the month of January is almost over!

But as for this week, do know that the NFL has two championship games airing on Sunday. Of course, you can find the times and matchups, as well as the networks for both games, in the listing below.

TNT’s Snowpiercer series returns from its frozen sleep for some season two thrills and ‘chills.’ What will this new (icy) season bring us from the train of social madness? Well, find out this Monday at 9 p.m. ET. By the way, a third season is happening thanks to TNT recently renewing the series.

Then we have Syfy’s brand-new comedy (alien) series called Resident Alien debuting on Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET. This new show is based on the Dark Horse comic book series of the same name, with Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Rogue OneA Star Wars Story) playing Captain Hah Re, who crashed landed on Earth. As such, our space friend will need to try to blend in to avoid unwanted attention when visiting a small town. He will take on the identity of Dr. Harry Vanderspiegle to do so. Of course, expect things to not go his way. Also, don’t forget to catch the Resident Alien Sunday Syfy special at 11:34 p.m. ET.

Please know that our very own, Transmute Jun, does have an article out now about the series itself, and you can check it out by clicking here. Lastly, do keep a lookout for more Resident Alien coverage by TJ

Friday, January 29th, does have a few movies to watch, but the one that caught the blog’s attention due to its strong cast list has to be the crime thriller The Little Things on HBO Max. It stars Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, and Jared Leto. The movie itself is about a Kern County Deputy Sheriff named Joe Deacon (Washington), who hunts for a serial killer in Los Angeles, California. The film was written and directed by John Lee Hancock, will also be released in theaters on January 29th, and is rated R. Overall, the film might be a good one to check out later in the week.

In some television news, we learned that season seven of The CW’s The Flash will now debut on March 2nd instead of February 23rd, because of the Superman & Lois 90-minute premiere and the TV special right afterwards called Superman & Lois: Legacy of Hope, both airing on February 23rd. The special will highlight the new series, with many guests popping up to talk about the show and the characters.

Actor John Krasinski (The Office, The Quiet Place) will host Saturday Night Live on January 30th for the first time. AMC’s The Walking Dead returns from the ‘dead’ for six brand-new episodes for all of us to eat, so expect the zombie fun on February 28th. Meanwhile, Netflix’s Bridgerton series is getting a second season, which is good to hear.

The world, sadly, has lost the one and only talk show host, Larry King, at the age of 87. Meanwhile, actress Mira Furlan (Babylon 5Lost) has also passed away recently, and she was 65. Overall, may both rest in peace.

That is it for now. As always, do let us know what you’ll be watching when visiting the FoCC forum. Plus, don’t forget that the rest of the TV schedule is listed below. Have a great (viewing) week, everyone!
