In this time of Covid-19, it is important to remember that as ordinary citizens, we have the power to be superheroes. To help in the fight against Covid-19, Civic Entertainment in partnership with GIPHY has launched a new public health initiative aimed at battling pandemic-fatigue as well as reducing COVID illness among the entertainment and marketing industry audiences. This campaign features the hashtag, #ImAProtector, to remind fans of the superheroes that they are.
The campaign features digital comic books and superhero gifs inspired by 20+ years of activations at Comic-Cons around the country as well as research (because we are geeks) conducted by Cultique (CIVIC’s research and insights agency). This campaign builds on the belief as well as research that we in the Comic-Con community want to protect each other from this horrible pandemic.
The #ImAProtector campaign uses classic comic book iconography to empower and celebrate “Protectors” – the everyday superheroes who are doing their part to look out for their families, neighborhoods, and communities to prevent Covid-19 related illness and deaths. Additionally, CIVIC Entertainment partnered with GIPHY to create custom, superhero-inspired “Protector” GIFs, which will be available on all GIPHY-enabled apps and platforms.
CIVIC’s social channels will also roll out digital comic books and trading cards featuring CIVIC employees who are doing their part to protect their families and communities by preventing COVID-19 related illness. Here are some examples of the GIFs and creatives available.
