Next Week in TV 3/21: The Simpsons Join the 700 Club, the Mighty Ducks are Back!

By Scott C. & DRWHO42

Wow, did last week have a lot of things to watch like the Snyder Cut of Justice LeagueFalcon and the Winter Soldier, and the return of March Madness!

Sunday has a couple of shows to check it, though, with one celebrating 700 episodes and one particular Doctor going animated. On BBC America, airing at 6 p.m. ET, is the animated series debut of Doctor Who: Fury From The Deep, that is about the Tardis and “The Doctor, Victoria, and Jamie to the coast of England, where the ESGO complex is drawing up natural gas from the North Sea … the Doctor is convinced he can hear something in the pipes, a heartbeat, something – alive?” This series debuted on AMC+ last week.

Fox’s The Simpsons celebrate a milestone of 700 episodes later Sunday at 8 p.m. ET. The first episode aired on December 17, 1989. The Simpsons was renewed for seasons 33 and 34, which means the series will eventually hit 750 episodes.

Also, on Sunday is the American Gods third season finale airing at 8 p.m. ET. There has been no word yet of a fourth season.

Speeding to Tuesday, March 23rd, The CW’s new Superman & Lois series enters its spring hiatus because of an earlier production shutdown thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. The series, though, will return on May, 18th. Until then, Supergirl‘s sixth and final season, which premieres on March 30th, takes over the time slot of Superman & Lois (9 p.m. ET).

NBC’s Superstore says goodbye to its fans this Thursday, March 25th, at 8:30 p.m. ET. The series lasted for six seasons.

A new set of ducks fly together in Disney+’s The Mighty Ducks: Game Changer debuting on Friday, March 26th. This new series picks up 25 years after the third Mighty Ducks film. It is about a 12-year-old’s mother encouraging her son to form a new hockey team with the help of coach Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez), who is the Ducks’ original coach. Six of the original Mighty Duck cast members will be making an appearance this season.

Amazon’s Invincible animated series also debuts on Friday, which is based on the comic book from Robert Kirkman. The story focuses on a 17-year-old named Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) and his superhero dad Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons).

As for some recent television news, Syfy’s Resident Alien is getting a second season, which means if you have not already, we strongly recommend that you start watching this hilarious and entertaining series. It has been good thus far, in our opinion. Meanwhile, the news dropped that Marvel Studios’ Loki will premiere on June 11th, and Pam Dawber will be on NCIS for four episodes as Marcie Warren starting on April 6th. Then there is the news that Adrien Brody will be playing basketball coach Pat Riley in the HBO Lakers series, set in the 1980s. BBC America’s Killing Eve, sadly, will come to an end after four seasons. Lastly, Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) has an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for Minari
