E3 is Happening, but Virtual for 2021

By Scott C.

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) announced that E3 2021, which will be held virtually June 12-15 to the public, will “Showcase the video game industry with an all-virtual event for everyone, everywhere. … E3 2021 will offer a multi-day video stream with online and mobile access.” The online content will be free to all.

So far, Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, Warner Bros. Games, and Koch Media will be featured, with more possibly joining the online event eventually. Sony is not on the list, though, plus a few well-known gaming companies are missing too. For instance, Sony has been doing its own thing online like State of Play, which showcases all things PlayStation, and has stopped participating in E3 since 2019.

Lastly, the ESA is eyeing an in-person event for 2022. Last year’s E3 got canceled thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Anyone can also signup to get future updates regarding E3 2021 by visiting the E3 website.
