Next Week in TV 4/25: A Little Glitz, A Little Glam, and A Big Rebellion!

By DRWHO42 & Scott C.

The week ahead in television will feature a celebration of excellence in film and a struggle for freedom.

First up on Sunday is the 93rd Annual Academy Awards. The awards show itself, which was delayed several weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be a standout compared to prior years due to the diversity of this years’ nominees. For instance, the list includes Chadwick Boseman, Steven Yeun, Chloe Zhao, Viola Davis, and Riz Ahmed. Of course, congratulations and good luck to all of the nominees.

AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead and HBO’s The Nevers are also great options to round out your Sunday evenings. Since its return, Fear the Walking Dead has been shaking things up with a few notable deaths and conflicts amongst friends and families, in a struggle to rebuild civilization.

Wednesday night will mark the long-awaited return of The Handmaid’s Tale for its fourth season. The series did not air since 2019 due to production delays resulting from the pandemic. Thus fans are interested to see what is next for the rebellion and to see more of June (Elizabeth Moss), Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford), and the Waterfords (Yvonne Strahovski and Joseph Fiennes). Hulu will release three episodes this week then move to a weekly release schedule afterward.

Then we have NBC giving Manifest fans a double dose of the series this week with two new back-to-back episodes this week. Many can find the date and time listed below in the listing.

Friday sees Amazon’s Invincible series concluding its first season, the Disney+ Marvel Studios Assembled: The Making of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier special debuting, and Netflix’s The Mitchells vs. The Machines animated movie debuting, too. The description of that Netflix movie is in the listing below.

In television news, HBO Max recently announced that it will add Superman and Lois to its streaming platform this May. If you have not had a chance to catch up on the series, this will be a great opportunity for you to do so later.

While on the topic of HBO Max, the fandom community will certainly be pleased to have Godzilla vs. Kong and Mortal Kombat available for viewing on the platform, but they will be only available for a few weeks. So, be sure to set aside some time for these two fun and exciting movies. Time is ticking, you know!

Elon Musk, meanwhile, will be hosting Saturday Night Live on May 8th…say what? Anyway, singer Miley Cyrus will also be joining the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX that night.

That is all for this week! Until next time, please let us know what you will be watching when visiting the FoCC forum. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Don’t forget to look at our picks and the listing below!
