Next Week in TV 5/9: The Struggle for Survival with Those Who Wish Me Dead and The Underground Railroad!

By DRWHO42 & Scott C.

The week ahead in television will feature two stories of survival with Angelia Jolie’s Those Who Wish Me Dead on HBO Max and The Underground Railroad on Amazon Prime starring Thuso Mbedu.

In Angelina Jolie’s latest film, Those Who Wish Me Dead, which is set in Montana and centers on a smokejumper firefighter named Hannah, who is struggling to get past a personal tragedy, is forced to overcome her issues to help save a child from assassins. The cast has several notables including, Tyler Perry, Nicolas Hoult, Jon Bernthal, Aidan Gillen, Tory Kittles, and Jake Weber.

The next highlight of the week is The Underground Railroad on Amazon Prime. The series centers on “Cora Randall’s desperate bid for freedom in the Antebellum South.” She later discovers an actual underground railroad, so let the survival game begin!

If you are looking for a few laughs this week, we recommend adding The Upshaws (Netflix), starring Mike Epps, Mike Epps, and Kim Fields, to your list. Also, Keegan-Michael Key will host Saturday Night Live this week, and we anticipate a great night of laughs.

Mom fans will be a little sad this week with the series drawing to a close this Thursday evening.

Of course, the dates, times, and where to watch everything mentioned above and what is to come later this week that wasn’t mentioned are in the new listing below.

Now to television and movie news from last week. This past week has been nothing short of exciting news, starting with the Marvel Phase 4 sizzle reel hitting social media that highlighted past MCU movies, the future, and enjoying movies at a movie theater.

HBO, meanwhile, released official set photos of select members of the cast from House of the Dragon, which included Matt Smith. Fox has given the green light to The Cleaning Lady, starring Daredevil’s Elodie Yung. The series itself centers on a female doctor getting involved with the mob but re-writes the rules to suit her agenda.

On the CW/DC front, Supergirl gave Kelly Olson (Azie Tesfai) an upgrade with her assuming the mantle of Guardian from Jimmy. Sadly, we learn Carlos Valdes (Cisco) and Tom Cavanagh (Wells) will not return for season eight of The Flash.

Lastly, Netflix released a teaser for an advance of the fourth season of Stranger Things which features a haunting return of Matthew Modine’s character, Doctor Brenner, to the series. It showed fans more of Eleven’s experimental and captive past. Overall, this is bound to shake things up for Eleven in season 4 regarding Doctor Brenner still haunting her.

That is all for this week! As always, please let us know what you will be watching when visiting the FoCC forum. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Our picks for the week are below.
