SDCC New Badge Request Options

by Transmute Jun

Comic Con International (CCI) has unfortunately had to cancel San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) for the past 2 years. Those who purchased badges for the canceled 2020 show were allowed to request refunds, or transfer those badges to 2021. When the 2021 show was cancelled, attendees were again given the option of transferring their badges to 2022, or requesting a refund. Based on unofficial data collected from the FoCC forums, it appears that at least 90% (likely more than 95%) of attendees who had 2020 badges had those badges transferred to 2022.

Now CCI is offering a new option for those twice-rolled-over badges. Attendees can transfer their 2022 SDCC badges to Comic Con Special Edition (CCSE), which is scheduled to take place November 26-28, 2021. Additionally, the option to simply refund badges is being offered again.

For those who currently have 2022 badges and wish to keep them, no action is necessary. Those who would like to transfer their badges to CCSE in November may do so by September 20, 2021, by contacting [email protected] Note that there are some restrictions:

  • Since the cost of a CCSE badge will be $150, your SDCC 2022 badge must also cost at least that amount.
  • If you wish to transfer your 2022 badge, you will not be able to attend SDCC 2022. Your 2022 badge will be cancelled and the cost difference (if any) will be refunded.
  •  It is not possible to do ‘partial’ transfers. Your entire badge (all days) must be transferred to CCSE. Additionally, all badges on your order will be transferred.

Those who wish to refund their 2022 badges now have until May 1, 2022 to do so. This can be done here.

More information on either option can be found here.
