FanExpo Denver Promises an Exciting Debut in 2021

By Miclpea

FanExpo Denver makes its debut during Halloween weekend: October 29-31, 2021. FanExpo Denver joins other genre conventions recently acquired by FanExpo HQ such as the different Wizard Worlds. These new acquisitions, combined with older conventions such as FanExpo Canada, Dallas Fan Festival, FanExpo Vancouver, MegaCon Orlando, and FanExpo Boston, make FanExpo HQ one of the major sponsors of pop culture conventions in the world.

FanExpo Denver began as Denver Comic Con in June of 2012. The convention was initially conceived as a program for Pop Culture Classroom (a non-profit organization) to help fund its year-round efforts. From its founding in 2012, through a name change in 2019 to Denver Pop Culture Con, the event has grown exponentially from more than 20,000 attendees to over 100,000 fans!

The growth came to a grinding halt in 2020 when the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this provided a unique opportunity for Fan Expo HQ to acquire Denver Pop Culture Con from Pop Culture Classroom in March 2021.

This new partnership is a win-win both for the fans and for Pop Culture Classroom. Pop Culture Classroom will continue its involvement with the convention while enjoying continuing financial support for its programs. The fans win since Fan Expo HQ has greater access to talent from around the world and increased economies of scale. Just a cursory review of the guests for the upcoming October event reveals that this year’s event will be one to remember.

Headlining the celebrity guest roster is none other than Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner. He will be joined by Zachery Quinto (Star Trek Beyond), Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy), Gian Carlo-Esposito (The Mandalorian, The Boys), and many other outstanding guests from series such as Lucifer, Smallville, and Battlestar Galactica. FanExpo Denver’s inaugural year promises to be exciting and fun for those fans who will be attending. I hope to see you there.

I love going to conventions around the US and Canada. I'm an ardent fan of all things science fiction and especially The Expanse. I'm a senior writer for Friends of CC and I have co-written a science-fiction script called Punctuated Equilibrium.
