Next Week in TV 1/2: Celebrate the Start of 2022 With a Bang!

By Scott C. & DRWHO42

Happy new year, all! We made it to 2022, yet we still have no flying cars or actual hoverboards.

But the new year begins right, with multiple season premieres hitting the airwaves. For instance, Sunday, January 2nd, sees CBS’ The EqualizerNCIS: Los Angeles, and S.W.A.T. all returning, with ABC’s The Rookie also coming back.

On Monday, January 3rd, Fox’s 9-1-1: Lone Star returns, while multiple NCIS shows on CBS do the same from their seasonal breaks, as well.

CBS’ FBI and NBC’s Chicago shows keep the returning theme going throughout the week.

On Thursday, January 6th, this day sees the Paramount+ animated series Star Trek: Prodigy back from its brief stay at a space dock called winter break. NBC’s The Blacklist is also back to solving some more crazy mysteries. Likewise, with Ghosts on CBS.

Syfy has a special behind the scenes look at season 2 of Resident Alien on Sunday, January 2nd.

The listing below will help you feed that watch hunger of yours, so check it out to see what else is airing soon. It will also be your guide to know more about the shows mentioned above, such as the dates and times.

As for the last few weeks in television, we had the series debut (episode one) of the Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett get decent reviews from the press and audiences. Personally, I thought it was alright, but the first episode lacked a few things that made episode one of The Mandalorian special

The fourth season of Cobra Kai kept the outstanding streak going for the series, thanks to more good writing, character development, and intense fighting scenes. Of course, I hope the wait for season 5 is not a long one. Luckily, Cobra Kai co-creator Jon Hurwitz did state on Twitter recently that filming finished for season 5 in December, so maybe we are looking at a 2022 summer or fall release?

New Year’s Day saw the (magical) debut of the HBO Max special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, which I highly recommend watching if you like Harry Potter. Then the Doctor Who holiday special “Eve of the Daleks” begins the goodbye tour of Jodie Whittaker’s portrayal of the titular character with an entertaining watch. Sadly, there are only two more specials left in seeing Whittaker as the Doctor.

In some recent television news, Netflix has stated (yet again) on Twitter that season 3 of The Umbrella Academy will be premiering sometime this year. Sadly, last week saw two legends passing away: Betty White and John Madden. White was 99, and Madden was 85. Of course, we will miss both greatly.

Please let us know what you will be watching when visiting the FoCC forum. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
