Next Week in TV 2/20: Mysterious Towns, Heists, and Vikings Conquer Netflix

By DRWHO42 & Scott C.

The week ahead is destined to give a feeling of nostalgia mixed in with some exciting new options to add to your viewing list.

Sunday night has several gems to add to your list. We will start with AMC and their back-to-back shots of adrenalin with the return of Killing Eve (on AMC+) and The Walking Dead (on AMC this week). Killing Eve’s return will be a little bittersweet as this will be the final season of the series. Moving on to The Walking Dead, the series will kick off the second part of its three-chapter (final) season. As always, do stay tuned for our weekly recaps, courtesy of our very own Transmute Jun, published each Monday.

Epix has something quite interesting in store if you are into stories with mysterious plots and settings similar to Lost. We recommend adding From, starring Harold Perrineau. This new series is from John Griffin (The Twilight Zone) and Jack Bender (Lost, Mr. Mercedes). It is based in a town that may look normal from all appearances. But is a trap with creatures and other mysterious forces lurking in the surrounding woods intent on preventing anyone from escaping. The trailers look interesting, due to the many mysterious elements the show currently has.

Moving over to PBS, the first season finale of David Tennant’s Around the World in 80 Days also airs on Sunday. But don’t worry fans, because the adventure is not over just yet since a second season has already been given a green light.

If you are looking for something new to add to your viewing list, we recommend adding The Endgame, premiering this Monday on NBC. The heist-based series marks Morena Baccarin’s (Gotham, Deadpool) return to television as a criminal mastermind who engages in a cat & mouse game with the FBI. This kind of feels like The Blacklist; however, we are going to give this series a shot.

The original Law & Order returns to the NBC TV Thursday night lineup for its 21st season. There will be also several familiar faces returning to the show like Sam Waterson, Carey Lowell, and Anthony Anderson. Also, a few new ones like Jeffery Donovan (Burn Notice), and Camryn Manheim (StumptownPerson of Interest).

To cap off the week, Netflix is taking the proverbial torch for the Vikings franchise and will debut their “sequel” series in the saga, Vikings: Valhalla is set 100 years after the events from the original series. We hope fans will embrace this series much like the original, and based on the trailers, we think it should be an easy sell.

For everything else, the listing below will be your guide to know more about the shows mentioned already, and those that were not.

Television news has been hot this week, but we will talk briefly about the exciting news from Paramount’s Investor Day presentation. First was the announcement that a fourth Star Trek film is in the works, which will mark the return of Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, and John Cho.

It was also announced the plans surrounding A Quiet Place III. Michael Saenoski directing and a premiere targeted for 2025. In television news, Paramount+ made a statement in their support for Halo by announcing it has renewed the series for a second season – well in advance of the season premiere on March 24th.

Netflix and The Duffer Bros announced their plans for the upcoming fourth season of Stranger Things, which releases in two segments, the first on May 27th and the second part on July 1st. They also announced a fifth season for the series, the final one. But there was also a hint that there may be other stories being worked on as we speak! As such, each one would serve as on-off stories or possibly another series altogether. Of course, only time will tell.

Fans of Better Call Saul should mark their calendars for April 18th for a two-hour back-to-back season premiere, which will kick off its sixth and final season. AMC also announced that this final season will be split into two parts, with the second part premiering on July 11th. AMC also announced that Fear the Walking Dead will return on April 17th. AMC is also adding to its already impressive cast for its upcoming Tales of the Walking Dead anthology series with the announcement of Olivia Munn, Jessie T. Usher, and Danny Ramirez.

Lastly, the folks over at DC and The WB have given Peacemaker the green light for a second season to the delight of fans. The show became a surprising and smashing success with audiences everywhere after the debut. We believe good writing, directing, and casting made this show a fan favorite; it also has a hilarious opening credit.

That’s all for this week. Please let us know what you will be watching when visiting the FoCC forum. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
