Next Week in TV 4/10: Mysteries Uncovered in Outer Range and the Final Chapter for Killing Eve

By DRWHO42 & Scott C.

The upcoming week in television features the series finale of a unique and intriguing series centered on an assassin and her pursuer and the premiere of a supernatural mystery set in the wilds of Wyoming.

Starting the week (Sunday, April 10th) is the second chapter finale of The Walking Dead airing at 9 p.m. Eastern on AMC. We found this chapter to be interesting as the true underbelly of Commonwealth is being discovered. Of course, stay tuned for our weekly recap written by Transmute Jun.

While the final chapter’s premiere date has not yet been announced, there has been speculation it will occur in the fall. In the meantime, if you are looking for a weekly fix of zombies, you do not have much longer to wait because Fear The Walking Dead will be back next week.

Killing Eve, which ends its run Sunday after four seasons, has garnered accolades from critics and fans since its premiere with standout performances by Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh. While fans will be sad to see the series go, there is a sign that the tale will not end based on news coming from BBC America and AMC Networks. Plans for a spin-off series centering on the early life of MI6 spymaster, Carolyn Mertens (played by Fiona Shaw).

S.W.A.T. celebrates its 100th episode on Sunday (CBS; 10 p.m. Eastern), and fans of the series will be happy to know that it will be back another season, a sixth.

The offbeat school comedy Abbott Elementary and The Thing About Pam end their first seasons this week along with Billions. Check the listing below to find out when they do.

The highlight of the week is the premiere of Outer Range on Amazon Prime (Friday, April 15th). The series stars Josh Brolin as a level-headed rancher who comes across something supernatural, which kicks off a series of events both he and his family will have to face. After watching a few episodes in advance of the premiere, we found the pacing to be a bit slower compared to other series; however, we were drawn in by the various breadcrumbs of mysterious events and, without giving away anything, we found it interesting to see how things unfolded.

There was a lot of exciting television news over the week, but we will start with the bittersweet announcement that the third season of Locke & Key will be its last. Star Trek: The Next Generation fans were beyond excited to hear that the main cast will return for the final season of Star Trek: Picard.

The Clone Club is officially back with the announcement from AMC Networks of a new Orphan Black spin-off titled Orphan Black: Echoes. The series will be set in the near future and “takes a deep dive into the exploration of the scientific manipulation of human existence. It follows a group of women as they weave their way into each life and embark on a thrilling journey, unraveling the mystery of their identity and uncovering a wrenching story of love and betrayal.” Ten episodes are planned for the first season, with Anna Fishko serving as showrunner and executive producer with John Fawcett, the co-creator and director of the original series.

Whoopi Goldberg will be heading to the world of fantasy after being announced as part of the cast for Anansi Boys, Neil Gaiman’s series adaptation for Prime Video. Based on Gaiman’s fantasy novel, the six-episode series will be set throughout contemporary London and follows a cast of characters in an epic story that stretches from the UK to Florida, the Caribbean, and the mythical World Before Time. Goldberg will play the menacing Bird Woman opposite Malachi Kirby and Delroy Lindo.

Apple TV+ has been busy adding to its future lineup with the announcement of the upcoming Chief of War, a limited series starring, written by, and executive produced by Jason Momoa. The streamer also announced plans for a conspiracy-based psychological thriller drama series starring Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and Jonathan Banks (Breaking BadBetter Call Saul) titled Constellation. The story will focus on Jo (Rapace), a woman who returns to Earth after a disaster in space — only to discover that pieces of her life are missing.

The Cleaning Lady and Winning Time: The Rise of the Laker Dynasty are both renewed. Second seasons for each are coming.

Lastly, after much speculation online, Breaking Bad fans can rejoice with the news that Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul will return for their iconic roles during the final season of Better Call Saul

That is all for now! As always, do check out the listing below to see what else is airing soon. Also, please let us know what you will be watching when visiting the FoCC forum. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
