Next Week in TV 4/24: A Final Trip to the Ozarks

By DRWHO42 & Scott C.

The road of the traditional season is starting to end as we will see several season finales airing soon, plus series finales are all lined up over the next few weeks. This week will be dominated by great crime-based dramas; however, there is something new for all sci-fi fans to enjoy.

Sunday night kicks off with an old west biographical series on Henry McCarty, a.k.a. American outlaw “Billy the Kid”, on EPIX (10 p.m. Eastern). More details about the new show is in the listing below.

Also, on Sunday, and jumping to sci-fi, The Man Who Fell to Earth debuts on Showtime at 10 p.m Eastern. The series, based on the novel by Walter Tevis, stars Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange) and Naomie Harris (No Time to Die) as two individuals – one human and one alien – who must work together to save their respective worlds. The supporting cast includes Bill Nighy and Kate Mulgrew.

Monday night (9 p.m. Eastern) on HBO marks the debut of The Punisher’s Jon Bernthal’s latest series: We Own This City. This limited series focuses on a police unit in Baltimore and how corruption within the department and local government, that has been adversely impacting the community.

HBO Max’s Tokyo Vice wraps its first season this Thursday (3 a.m. Eastern). This series centers on a journalist (Ansel Elgort); and how his life intersects with the criminal underworld run by the Yakuza and the police. So far, it has been a standout with a portion of the dialog spoken in Japanese and the lovely cultural cues, which demonstrate how hard the main character, Jake Adelstein, has been working lately in order to be accepted in Japan’s customs. The filmmakers behind the series did use Tokyo as the backdrop for the series, and they have done a great job conveying the city’s vibrant and metropolis environment.

The final episodes of Ozark will be released Friday (3 a.m. Eastern) on Netflix. It will be a bittersweet occasion as fans of the series watch the Byrde family work to avoid prosecution from the feds for their money-laundering scheme while plotting their survival from the Mexican cartel. Fans of the series will also be interested to see Ruth Langmore, played by the brilliant Julia Garner, on a warpath of vengeance after the assassination of her cousin. Of course, there will be plenty of shock and awe in store for the final seven episodes of this epic series, and we look forward to watching every second!

That is all for now! Of course, let us know what you will be watching when visiting the FoCC forum. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
