Now that the San Diego Comic-Con hotel lottery is passed us, it is time to focus on a different event: Star Wars Celebration 2022 (May 26-29), which is being held at the Anaheim Convention Center. Fans for this ReedPop/Lucasfilm event have been anxiously awaiting for some panel and merchandise lottery details, since the 2019 Celebration Chicago show had a lottery system. Thankfully, some juicy information was posted by the Star Wars crew very recently!
For the morning panels of each day, the panel lottery system on the Star Wars Celebration website once live will allow a single fan to enter “A random drawing for admission to the first panel of each day on the Celebration Stage, Galaxy Stage, and Twin Suns Stage,” during the whole event. Fans will also be able to enter any additional tickets purchased in a order. If selected, the winners will get a QR code (by email) well before the event. Thus, overnight camping will not be needed nor be allowed. The Celebration Stage will have the major panels when ongoing (the other two will be live streaming the morning panels), and that main stage will be located in the convention center’s Arena building like it was in 2015, which was the last time Star Wars Celebration visited Anaheim.
If there are unclaimed admissions, those will be accessible via the LIGHTSPEED Lane reservation system each morning (9 am. PT) during the show through a mobile app, or going to a specific Star Wars website. (More details about this part of the reservation process will be shared on a later date.) Of course, we do hope that the LIGHTSPEED Lane system works properly unlike the last time it was used for 2019 Celebration Chicago. According to those that went, the app would crash a lot, or not work at all when it didn’t crash. But Jedi Master holders will not need to worry about anything mentioned above, thanks to having saved seating for all of the panels at the Celebration Stage.
LIGHTSPEED Lane reservations are offered on a first-come, first-served basis when available. Fans also will only be able to make one LIGHTSPEED Lane reservation per stage each day at the show (which doesn’t include the live streaming panels) for the Galaxy and Twin Suns stages, which will have some reserved seating. All panels taking place at the Star Wars Celebration LIVE Stage, Podcast Stage, University Stage, Collectors Stage, and Fan Stage will not require a reservation.
As for the merchandise and event store, “Some of the top brands from the Star Wars universe selling exclusive exhibitor items will also be utilizing the virtual random selection process … to handle demand and to provide more fans the opportunity to purchase exclusive items from their booth.” Fans will be able to reserve time slots for the Celebration store and more, through LIGHTSPEED Lane each day of the event (9 a.m. PT), and be able to manage their “Panel/exclusive item requests through the Star Wars Celebration website prior to the convention.” Do note that badges do need to be activated before making any LIGHTSPEED Lane reservation.
The lottery date will be announced later, and it should be soon, so make sure to follow Star Wars Celebration on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Of course, the blog will keep you posted when the news drops!
