SDCC 2022 Parking Lottery Now Open

by Transmute Jun

While many attendees are now breathing a sigh of relief after scoring downtown hotel rooms in the San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) hotel lottery, others are anxiously awaiting the Ace Parking lottery, for a chance to nab choice parking spots during the con. Parking spots in and around the Gaslamp will be tough to find during SDCC (which will be held July 21-24, with Preview Night on July 20).

Attendees can now enter the parking lottery here. Entries will be accepted until June 12. The lottery will be held on June 13, with results emailed to participants shortly thereafter. Group 1 will be able to purchase parking permits beginning June 20, and have a full week to do so before the system moves on to Group 2, and so on.

It should be noted that while the popular parking lots sell out quickly (spaces at the Convention Center and at the Hilton Bayfront garages) there are always spots available for parking. Those who are not allocated a group spot in the parking lottery, or who are unable to enter the lottery, will still be able to purchase a spot somewhere, within walking distance of the convention center, once the lottery groups have all had their turn purchasing spots.

In 2018, Ace made a change to the parking lottery, requiring that everyone who enters provide a credit card number, in order to prevent ‘sign-up spamming’ that they experienced in the past. This procedure continues this year. While the cards will not be charged, Ace will be performing a pre-authorization check on each card number, to ensure that it is valid.

For more details, you can check out Ace’s Comic Con website.
