Next Week in TV 8/21: The Return to Westeros

By DRWHO42 & Scott C.

The week ahead has been marked on many calendars in the fandom community because it marks the return the the fantasy world of Westeros and this means  dragons, scheming, intrigue, and more. Game of Thrones fans have anxiously been waiting for House of the Dragon, the first Game of Thrones spin-off series. The prequel, starring Matt Smith, Eve Best, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, and Rhys Ifans, is set 200 years before the events of the original series that concluded in 2019.

The first media reviews online have been mixed; the blog will judge the series after the first season ends. As always, we will use our own merits instead of trying to compare the prequel to the original series.

There is plenty more on the deck this week, with the third season premieres of Star Trek: Lower Decks on Paramount+ and See on Apple TV+. Both series have enthusiastic fan bases. The blog looks forward to watching them this week.

If you are interested in biographical series, we recommend adding Mike, the story of heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson. It premieres on Hulu this Thursday.

Lastly, the breakout hit series, Only Murders in the Building, wraps its second season on Tuesday, while Motherland: Fort Salem signs off for good this week on FreeForm.

Lastly, the listing below will have many other things to watch, as well as more information about the series mentioned above.

That is it for now. Until next time, let us know what you will be watching when visiting the FoCC forum. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
