Next Week in TV 2/5: The Final Run For The Flash Begins This Week!

By DRWHO42 & Scott C.

The week ahead in television features the first season finale for National Treasure and the season premiere of The Flash

In the past few weeks, the NFL has given fans a lot to celebrate during the playoffs with tons of excitement, major upsets, and some disappointments, like a team one person likes losing. This week is a break from the weekly excitement, and all eyes will turn to Las Vegas to celebrate the best of this season, with The Pro Bowl. This year the players will face off on skills tests capped off by a flag football contest which will tide us over until Super Bowl Sunday. The fun begins at 3 p.m. ET on ABC, ESPN, and Disney.

Looking back at last week, The Last of Us continued its trailblazing journey with a self-contained story spanning over 20 years. The series continues to break the mold for video game adaptations and stand on its own through exceptional writing and acting. The blog is looking forward to this week’s episode with high anticipation to see what’s next. You can catch the next new episode on HBO and HBO Max at 9 p.m. ET on Sundays.

The Grammy Awards kicks off the week (Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on CBS) with its yearly celebration of the best in music. Expect live performances of popular songs and unique on-stage collaborations. Oddsmakers are placing bets Beyoncé will go home with a lot of hardware just in time for her new tour.

If you enjoy Ghosts on CBS, you may want to put Not Dead Yet, premiering on ABC Wednesday evening (8:30 p.m. ET). The series features Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) as a down-on-her-luck journalist who finds inspiration from the “other side” for her articles.

On Thursday (very early) morning, HBO Max is giving DC fans an early Valentine’s gift in the form of Harley Quinn and her Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special.

The renewal fairy has started to bestow renewal news, and there are a few to note. La Brea has been given a green light for a third, and possibly final season. Based on several reports, the cast asked for releases from their contracts after the third season which allows for the writers to wrap up the story arc. If NBC decides to give the series a 4th season renewal, which is long-shot, it will feature a new cast and a new story arc.

AMC announced Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches will be back for a second season along with the Yellowstone spinoff 1923 and Fox’s The Cleaning Lady

The star of the once-great Arrowverse on The CW is dwindling. This week marks another step in that direction, with the kickoff of The Scarlet Speedsters’ ninth and final season beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday. There will be a few familiar faces returning for this last season, which includes The Green Arrow himself, Stephen Amell, and Jessie L. Martin. Of course, more familiar faces will be popping up throughout the season.

DC is continuing to clean house, with the latest victim being HBO Max’s Pennyworth. DC heads Jams Gunn, and Peter Safran announced that there is potential for one to two more seasons of Superman & Lois. The bosses have also indicated that they are not proceeding with the under-development Green Lantern series but have given a green light to an Amanda Waller series. No word on the return of John Cena’s Peacemaker, but the blog thinks that the series probably will return eventually. Why? Well, the first season was a hit for HBO Max, and who doesn’t like hits? Also, Waller was in the first season of Peacemaker and now has a series getting made. But of course, time will tell.

NBC announced the end of the road for The Blacklist, which is entering a milestone 10th season. Lastly, the “Save Warrior Nun” campaign to change the minds of Netflix to reverse the cancellation of the series is not losing steam, and the crowdfunded efforts are creating attention with billboards across from Netflix offices in California; and this week in mid-town New York City. We are hopeful Netflix hears the fans’ request and gives the series the green light for a third season.

As always, we will see you here on the blog each week! Until next time, check out the listing below to see what else is airing soon, and don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Of course, have a great week!
