Next Week in TV 2/26: The Mandolorian and Grogu are Back!
By DRWHO42 & Scott C.
The week ahead will be strong in the Force for TV fans everywhere, so buckle up for an intergalactic ride.
The Mandalorian and Grogu are back this week (Wednesday, March 1st) for another trip across the galaxy on Disney+. Of course, the blog is excited to see what is in store for Mando and Grogu in season 3. Plus, seeing familiar faces returning should be great, yet we wonder who else returns this season. Regardless, do not miss out on this premiere. And if you do, the blog would find your lack of devotion as a Mando fan disturbing. *Wink*
Back on Earth, The Blacklist returns on Sunday (February 26th; 10 p.m. ET) for its milestone 10th and final season on NBC. The cat and mouse series was engaging from the start with a mysterious protagonist, James Spader, helping a unit of government agents hunt down criminals; and unravel conspiracies that reach the highest levels of government concerns.
Along similar lines, there are a few series conclusions on the horizon that were announced recently, such as HBO saying that the upcoming fourth season of Succession, which will return on March 26th, will be its last run. The Goldbergs, on ABC, will also wrap up after its 10th season.
Several season finales are hitting the week, including Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches, Alert, CB Strike, La Brea, 1923, and Walker: Independence. Do not forget to see the listing below for more information about each series.
If you are a fan of the Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis 1994 spy thriller movie that was directed by James Cameron, then how about watching the television adaptation of True Lies, set to premiere this Wednesday, March 1st, on CBS. This version stars Ginger (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law) and Steve Howie (Shameless) as the husband and wife Tasker spy team. The series will have a few changes compared to the movie, which we will not spoil as we encourage you to give the series a shot for yourself.
If you are a fan of stand-up comedy, you are in for a double dose of laughter with Chris Rock and Marlon Wayans taking the stage in specials on Netflix and HBO Max, respectively. The Chris Rock special, Selective Outrage, will be live-streamed globally this Saturday, March 4th, from its location, the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore, Maryland, at 10 p.m. ET. A first for Netflix, but it may open the door for more live-streamed events later. The key: let’s see how popular Selective Outrage is once it streams.
In television news, HBO Max announced a prequel series to the popular It franchise titled: Welcome to Derry. Details of the series have not dropped yet, but we will keep an ear out for such news at several conventions the blog visits, like San Diego Comic-Con.
Netflix released a major casting announcement for The Umbrella Academy, which has commenced filming in Toronto, Canada. David Cross, Megan Mullally, and Nick Offerman will join the rest of the cast: Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, Colm Feore for the upcoming fourth and final season of the series, with no date yet set for season 4.
Amazon Prime announced The Rig returns for another season (yet no date announced) with Martin Compston (Line of Duty), Iain Glen (Game of Thrones), and Emily Hampshire (Schitt’s Creek) in line to return.
Lastly, Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon fans were delighted to hear that production for the next season begins next month in the UK and Spain. Yet there will be a bit of a wait: at some point in 2024 will see season 2 drop for House of the Dragon. Media professionals anticipate summer, which would make the series eligible for Emmy consideration.
As always, we recommend seeing the listing below to see what else is airing very soon. Lastly, don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Twitter. May the Force be with you all…always!
