Next Week in TV 9/3: Animation Series Takes The Spotlight and The Return Of The NFL

It is the unofficial end of summer within the Labor Day holiday this week; there are a few things to look forward to, though, most notably the kickoff to the NFL season Thursday evening with the Chiefs starting their defense of their Super Bowl title against the Lions.
The ongoing strikes in the entertainment industry may have hampered what would have been a wave of returning series this month; however, there are a few options to consider this week, including the return of animated series such as Star Trek: Lower Decks, American Dad, Kung Fu Panda, Tiny Toons Looniversity, and I am Groot.
For documentary enthusiasts, there are a few gems to add to your list starting with Ancient Empires, premiering Monday on History. This seven-hour journey will give viewers a fresh look at some of our civilization’s greatest and most notable empires and the leaders who shaped them starting with Alexander the Great. Netflix’s Predators, hosted by Tom Hardy, will take viewers around the globe to provide an upfront look at the life of predatory animals, including cheetahs, hyenas, lions, and polar bears!
On the drama front, there are a couple of new series to add to your list, including Britain-import The Killing Kind, which centers on a defense lawyer who is stalked by a client she once represented. Also, Apple TV+ continues to lay the groundwork for an interesting and mind-altering series with the premiere of Changling. The supernatural-based series centers on a woman who journeys into the Amazon jungle and seemingly meets someone who grants her three wishes, then after some time, she gets married and has a child only to mysteriously disappear. The husband must now embark on a search for her and their abducted child.
Walking Dead fans with AMC+ will get early access to The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon on Thursday, which premieres on AMC on September 10th. This series, set in France, will provide a different atmosphere for the zombie apocalypse we experienced through the OG series and spinoffs.
