Next Week in TV 9/17: The Final Term For Sex Education and The Continental Opens For Pre-Wick Business

The week ahead on television should not disappoint fans eagerly awaiting the final season of Sex Education or the series premiere of the John Wick spinoff series, The Continental.
Looking back at last week, the series premiere of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon opened the aperture on the world in which the series takes place with new adventures in Europe with our fan favorite Daryl. The series also brought a fresh perspective culturally but also with the introduction of acidic zombies, which can burn flesh when touched! Yikes, talk about having some acid reflux!
Looking ahead to this week, we would typically be amid fall premieres; however, with production halted due to the ongoing Hollywood strikes, there is a considerably smaller wave of new entrants. There are a few glimmers in the rough, though, with the streamers bringing content from overseas to add to their lineup. This also includes content on Acorn TV, such as the light-hearted crime series, Mrs. Sindhu Investigates, with Meera Syal (Wheel of Time, The Sandman, Doctor Who) and Craig Parkinson (Line of Duty, Doctor Who, Misfits) and Netflix’s Hard Broken (by way of Lebanon).
There are two series very high on our list for the week. The first is the fourth and final season premiere of Sex Education this Friday on Netflix. The relationship-based series, starring Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Ncuti Gatwa (a soon-to-be Doctor Who), and Emma Mackey, has been enjoyable from the start with the main character of Otis navigating awkwardly through relationships and friendships while serving as a secret therapist to his fellow students. We are hoping and rooting for Otis and Maeve to realize what they mean to each other before the series concludes.
The second highlight is the series premiere of The Continental on Peacock. Set in the 1970s, this prequel John Wick spinoff series focuses on Winston’s early days working at the same named hotel, which caters only to the world’s accomplished assassins and mercenaries. Katie McGrath (Supergirl) and Colin Woodell (Designated Survivor) head up this cast and based on the trailer, we were impressed by the action sequences that were teased. Overall, the new series looks very interesting!
