Audible Brings Slayers: A Buffyverse Story to NYCC

by Transmute Jun

Attendees are getting excited for New York Comic Con (NYCC), October 12-15. With the con taking place over the weekend of Friday the 13th, and so close to Halloween, this year’s event will feature a full slate of horror, mystery and monsters. One of the highlights is sure to be Slayers: A Buffyverse Story, a new audio original series presented by Audible.

Slayers: A Buffyverse Story takes place 10 years after the finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Spike has gone undercover in LA amongst the forces of darkness. When his cover is blown, he encounters Cordelia Chase, but not the woman he remembers. Cordelia is from an alternate universe where Buffy never existed, and Cordelia is the one-and-only Slayer. Spike and Cordelia team up to take on Drusilla, who is terrorizing Cordelia’s universe. The series reunites original cast members James Marsters, Charisma Carpenter and Juliet Landau.

Audible will be hosting an audio-led immersive experience for fans, hosted at 508 W 37th Street (a 5 minute walk from the Javits Center). No badge is required to attend. Fans will enter the Slayer Society and enjoy a beverage from the Potion Bar, while discovering their destiny through Tarot readings. Then they will train to become slayers themselves and enter a multiverse portal, before receiving Slayer swag to take home. This experience will be open on Friday the 13th from 5:00-8:00 pm, on Saturday  from 1:00-8:00 pm, and on Sunday from 1:00-6:00 pm.

There will also a panel featuring the cast of the series on Friday the 13th.  Slayers is scheduled to premiere on Audible on Thursday, October 12.
