Next Week in TV 11/12: English Royalty and the King of Monsters Dominate the Week

The SAG-AFTRA strike has finally concluded after a landmark deal was agreed upon between the Hollywood studios and actors. The new deal will yield over $1 billion in actor salaries over the next three years. The final voting will take place this week, and once the agreement is officially in place, filming will resume!
Plans for shortened seasons are in the finalization stage, with CBS and NBC announcing 13 episode formats for their mainstream procedurals such as FBI and comedy lineups, including Young Sheldon, which has been given a larger season order of episodes compared to other comedy series. ABC, though, has decided to do a little bit of trimming with the announcement of The Rookie: Feds being canceled and the decision to no longer pursue The Good Doctor spinoff, The Good Lawyer. Overall, audiences of scripted films and movies are rejoicing that the entertainment industry is back in business!
The lineup for the week ahead in television is epic: the sixth and finale season of the popular British Royalty drama, The Crown, and the series premiere of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, starring Kurt Russell and his son, Wyatt Russell.
We are also excited for the premiere of Hulu’s A Murder at the End of the World, starring Emma Corrin (The Crown) and Clive Owen and Lena Headey’s interstellar Beacon 23, where the life of a lone inhabitant of a cosmic lighthouse is interrupted by an unexpected and mysterious visitor. Rounding out the week is the animated series premiere of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, which features the cast of the film, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, including Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Michael Cera, Brie Larson, and Chris Evans from the live-action version of many years ago.
With the holiday season around the corner, holiday-themed programming is starting to ramp up for family enjoyment. This includes Dashing Through The Snow on Disney+, as well as Netflix’s Best. Christmas. Ever., featuring Jason Biggs (Orange is the New Black), and Crashing Eid.
In entertainment news, Amazon Prime Video released the trailer for the highly anticipated second season of Reacher, which will return on December 15th. The trailer was exciting, and we are looking forward to this upcoming season. Lastly, Netflix released the first trailer for Avatar: The Last Airbender, which will see a release sometime in 2024.
