My family & I were soooooooo disappointed in the first movie, that I wouldn't have considered seeing number 2 but the preview actually looks pretty good. I am hopeful that they learned their lesson and stay truer to the book. I'm curious to see how they'll overcome all parts they left out or changed that are tied to the rest of the stories.

I've never actually been in a SDCC badge sale where I wasn't going for anything. It'll be interesting to see my stress level when I don't have a horse in the race.
For me, it's not so stressful, but you still get that 'excited' feeling in the pit of your stomach, and the adrenaline still runs while you're in the waiting room and making that purchase. Plus there's the spillover excitement when you let your friends know that you helped them out.

There's supposed to be a new Dunkirk trailer - I'm super excited for that.
Dark Tower trailer... I have very mixed emotions.... :(
http://www.movies.com/movie-news/the-dark-tower-trailer/22558
I mentioned this in the Dr. Strange thread but when we saw that in imax they, without announcing what it was, showed this really long preview of Dunkirk, long enough that people were wondering if someone mixed up and was playing the wrong movie. But by the end when the engine cut out, you could feel the reaction in the theater, wow. That is going to be a heck of a movie.
They showed it before Rogue One but they didn't release the theaters they were going to be showing it at until the day the movie opened, so I'd already bought my tickets. I really wanted to see it, but not enough to pay for IMAX twice.
The weather was awful today so I didn't make it out to see GotG2, but here have the Dunkirk trailer anyway:This is my most anticipated movie of the summer.

Isn’t it a bit disingenuous to call the new The Lion King “live action” when it’s still clearly animated, just with computers instead of pens and paint? Granted, a lot of the backgrounds are probably real. But the action part (ie, the characters) are still very much animated.

New horror film from Warner Bros. from the same people who made "The Conjuring" franchise, "The Curse of La Llorona." Opens in Australia Thursday, April 18, the U.S. Friday, April 19 and the U.K. Friday, May 3. I'm catching an early preview tonight (Tuesday, April 16).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOV-xMYQ7sk
Will have to see this for personal closure. I grew up in a small town in New Mexico, not in the cool part of town with things like Lotaburgers and, you know, people, but out in the weeds amongst the farms and irrigation ditches. La Llorona was a story that would get told a lot to scare kids away from playing in the ditches and the river. What made it bad for me was that at night there would sometimes be these horrible weird sounds during the night that I would have to lie awake and listen to. Didn't find out until many years later that a farm down the road had a bunch of peacocks, and they were making the sounds.
Someone in L.A. told me stories of the "white woman" or the "weeping woman" were told to children. This movie is clearly not for children as there are scenes involving children in peril.
By the way, the hamburger joint you're referring to, I think they're called Whattaburger. I know because I used to live in Arizona, just next door to New Mexico.

tomcruise Feel the need. Trailer tomorrow. #TopGun
https://www.instagram.com/p/B6Il6yrB4AL/I'm of the age and demographic that this movie seems catered to: someone who was a young male when TOP GUN was in theaters (I even remember seeing it in Columbus, OH w/military recruiters set up at a folding table outside the theater). But I'm starting to really sour at cynical nostalgia cash-grabs, and this feels like that: right down to Goose's son somehow looking exactly like Goose, and featuring what look like the same story-beats (football game with the boys; possibly another recruit death). I'm hoping I'm wrong, because the director can film some pretty awesome visceral action (though, DAMN do we miss Tony Scott :( ), and Chris McQuarrie supposedly punched up the script a bit so I'm slightly more optimistic that this film will at least be worth watching and not a _bad_ film (like, say, the INDEPENDENCE DAY sequel is flat-out bad).

Really interested in this movie. Just hope it doesn't do the whole "The Walking Dead" people are the REAL monsters thing...

Whoa…Fun times. I hoping this is mostly 1st Act stuff (which seems very plausible). I dig how this mirrors the original setup/film and I'm curious to hear what the setup is in this one: is this, like, another iteration of the program - a 'new' version of Neo? While I'm not 100% sure the original trilogy needed a follow-up/revisit, the Wachowskis are at the very least incredibly inventive & intriguing filmmakers. While only Lana is returning to the franchise, I have faith in what she brings to the filmmaking world and this trailer has gotten me excited with just the thoughts of what ideas she's come up with, where this is headed, etc.

I’m incredibly excited for GotG3 but I’m terrified of the emotional damage it may cause. Marvel has been coming at us hard since End Game.Yeah as these creatives come to the end of their contracts, it's gonna be perilous for us :-[
Yeah as these creatives come to the end of their contracts, it's gonna be perilous for us :-[
I'm worried after the Hall H panel in July, when all of the returning cast members were misty-eyed after the sizzle reel played. Gunn's made it clear that not all the characters make it (and that he's done with the franchise), and aside from Groot & Rocket being completely CGI and thus 'not under contract,' I legit think anything goes with this one and we're in for an emotional ride. Heck, I never thought I'd get emotional with just Yondu exiting the franchise (knowing that Gunn likes to 'torture' actor Michael Rooker almost as much as Sam Raimi likes to 'torture' Bruce Campbell): dunno what kind of wreck I'll be if/when it's a main character ???
Well, does Groot every truly die? I mean, he just gets re-planted and recovers :D
I'm going to see this Canadian horror film! The title of this film is "Skinamarink." Movie was filmed in Edmonton, Alberta and is about two children who wake up in the middle of the night to find their father is missing, and all the windows and doors in their home have vanished. The movie will have limited release in the U.S. on January 13 before it will be released on the Shudder app later next year. This film was already shown at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Canada this past July. It's a mock classic horror film taking place in the early 1970s that cost about US$11K to make. Trailer is a minute and 45 seconds. Some critic friends of mine really liked this film; I'm looking forward to it!

It will be interesting to see how this sets up the future of the universe. The “I’m Batman” from Michael Keaton got me!Yeah it's tough to really 'read' what DC Studios has in mind for the future of The Flash, Shazam, Blue Beetle, etc. I think Gunn has said they will live within their own franchises: like maybe an 'elseworlds.' That being said, if any of those films are huge hits it makes sense from a business standpoint to fold them into the planned DC universe. Like, DC Studios _has_ to plan ahead regardless if these movies are hits or flops, but they're hedging their bets if these films really resonate for the right reasons with fans (meaning, obviously "Keeton Batman!!" is resonating with fans because nostalgia, but if that's the only reason this movie makes a ton of money that doesn't really resonate with "Ezra Flash!!" and might mean it's best to either completely shut-down or keep self-contained).
There’s going to be a Hall H trailer for “The Marvels” during SDCC? Has to be, right? That seems highly plausible; that'll be close to finished while CAPTAIN AMERICA: NEW WORLD ORDER is currently filming so footage from those two at least seems very plausible, if not likely.

Looks promising but I also said that about “Skinamarink” and was disappointed.Ha, I know what you mean. BUT, SKINAMARINK didn't star Nick Cage, so already this movie has A LOT of awesome going for it ;)
Directed by Oz PerkinsAnthony Perkins' kid! I haven't seen I AM THE PRETTY THING THAT LIVES IN THE HOUSE, but IIRC GRETEL & HANSON at least had its positives: not a perfect film, by any stretch, but I think it had good atmosphere and some good dark moments! I do love a good cult/murder movie so here's hoping this is at least interesting
The sci-fi/horror-thriller takes the phenomenally successful “Alien” franchise back to its roots: While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.and I think this DEFINITELY looks like a call-back, tonally, to the original ALIEN: a taught, intense, horror movie in space.
After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia's life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it's only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice's name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem.I certainly can’t guess the answers to the above questions of mine, but this certainly LOOKS like the original BEETLEJUICE vibe, and I’ve been a big Michael Keaton fan since seeing NIGHT SHIFT and MR. MOM on cable TV in the early 1980’s; I was a Tim Burton fan from the beginning, since seeingPEE WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE in theater when it was first released. I saw BEETLEJUICE in theaters opening weekend, and I must’ve been the rare middle schooler in the late 80’s when it was announced Burton would direct and Keaton would be BATMAN that I was legit really excited to see what they’d do. So I’m cautiously optimistic!
