So I have never done preview night and this year will be my 1st time doing it. I have NO clue where to go for lining up and what time?

I apologize for hijacking your original post and going off-topic about the exclusives lottery, so let's get things back on track! :)

So that we can better help you, is there a particular event or thing that you were wanting to line up for during Preview Night?

Thanks!

Funko Fundays is not a free for all.  Its a tiered sale where select forum / VIP members get a chance to buy tickets before general sale.
That being said, last years lottery system was great!  No time wasted in lines that I didn't have a chance at.

FWIW, the forum pre-sale isn't for certain this year.

I know a lot of people use Preview night for swag-gathering at the big booths. I tend to use it for scouting out the various areas since it's relatively easy to move around. Sometimes there are exclusive or otherwise special comics or books I will try to pick up but that differs year to year.

Also remember - not all exclusives are equal.

I'm not super into exclusive toys, but two years ago there was a book that was limited to 500 signed and numbered copies.

I got in line early for Preview Night, and when the doors opened, I sprinted through the Exhibition Hall, past the long long lines at Funko, Hasbro, Entertainment Earth, Hallmark... etc. When I got to the publisher's table there was no line. At all. I asked if they had the book in stock. "Yeah - we still have about 498 left! How many do you need?"

For Hasbro, enrolling in the exclusives lottery (when it becomes available) will be your first order of business.

That aside, the Hasbro booth did open up later in the day on certain days, when the line of lottery winners at their booth started to dwindle.

Bottom line, if you don't win access in the lottery, you can lurk around their booth in the evening (on Preview Night), or later in the day on any other day.

I got the Red Skull/Tesseract when they opened up the line.

I didn't win any of the exclusive lottery spots last year, but somehow I still had much better luck getting everything I wanted just about everywhere than in any years past.

Last year if you want across the hallway (can't remember what the booth was) to the other hasbro one and showed them the hasbro app (or something like it) they gave you a pass to enter at the very front of the line.

Everyone of my friends that wanted something got it because of that, and I got my MTG card set.

Just something to watch out for maybe this year.

I love preview night. First time in a few years I haven’t gotten it so I’m bummed because I get most of my shopping done that night. There’s a couple of artists I try to get stuff from and usually some exclusives I go for but I’m not usually in the hunt for the ultra rare exclusives. I got all the Mondo stuff I wanted last year since each day had its own exclusives.  Like mentioned above it’s a much more relaxing way to enjoy the floor and chat up some vendors. Lining up in sails seems earlier and earlier. Best of luck getting what your after!
Fun isn’t something one considers when preparing for Comic-Con, but attending does put a smile on my face

I have been curious about the premieres in Ballroom 20, but the exhibit hall has always been a bigger pull for me since it's a good night to get all the non-difficult purchases out of the way and not worry about carrying them around the rest of the con. That said, I'm trying to cut back this year (and I also have a closer hotel, so it will be easier to drop things off) so I may actually check out the Ballroom 20 premieres this year.

Several years ago, they used to post a schedule of the Ballroom 20 previews outside of the room, so you could actually plan out your evening if there were only certain previews you wanted to see. It seems they haven't done that the past few years. They just post what they're showing, but not the actual order or timing. So I guess you just have to go and stay the duration to make sure you get to see what you want to see. Either that, or just get lucky.

I remember back when Preview Night was included in a 4-day pass (ie, no extra charge). And I never went because I didn't feel it was worth it to go an extra day -- with extra hotel night's stay -- just for 3-4 hours of con-time.

But then one year, I decided, okay, let's just go and see how Preview Night is like. And since then I've been hooked on going. And the irony is, they started charging extra for Preview Night the year after I decided it was worth it.

To be honest, I think Preview Night is overpriced (3 hours for the same price as 7 hours on Sunday, and actually PN is a couple bucks more than Sunday). So I'm fine not getting it every year.

Didn't get Preview Night myself.  While I am bummed a little, as pointed out by hikanteki, the price has been creeping up so that now, I'm actually not too disappointed.  But its still a rush to come in the first day, check out the lay of the land, and knock off a few items and exclusives that were probably on your list.  The giveways can be fun too if you luck into them at the right time.
