I suspect by the time the film opens the majority of the public will have forgotten about this tragedy, and it's not like that will be in the marketing. I suspect this is more of a low budget direct to video/streaming kind of thing anyway. It's not like Alec Baldwin opens theatrical movies nowadays
Marketing won't mention it, but the news and social media sure will. So, the bereaved husband takes cash and an executive producer credit, and all is fine. SMH.
Agreed. I think because the file is so low-profile, this is ALL people will know about it. They'll probably get some voyeurs from that but most people will probably stay away... if they even notice the release.
To be fair, and maybe blunt, this is likely the kind of movie no one would've noticed had there not been a massive tragic story attached to it
The District Attorney in Santa Fe, New Mexico is charging both Alec Baldwin and the armorer with felony involuntary manslaughter in the accidental shooting death of the cinematographer on the set of “Rust” in October 2021.You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
It's understood that Santa Fe prosecutors will be going ahead with involuntary manslaughter charges against (the film's armorer, Hannah) Gutierrez-Reed, who has pleaded not guilty.
There is a set of new prosecutors and new charges against armoror Hannah Gutierrez-Reed. She is now charged with evidence tampering. On the day investigators came to the set when the cinematographer was killed, the armoror had some narcotics and that she passed them on to someone else before police got to see them. Also prosecutors allege the armoror smoked pot and drank on a daily basis during the shoot and she was so smashed she accidentally put a live round in the gun that was eventually handed to Alec Baldwin.
Two special prosecutors, Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis, sent the gun for further forensic testing last summer. Their experts, Lucien and Michael Haag, reconstructed the gun — which had been broken during FBI testing — and concluded that it could only have been fired by a pull of the trigger.“This fatal incident was the consequence of the hammer being manually retracted to its fully rearward and cocked position followed, at some point, by the pull or rearward depression of the trigger,” the report concluded. “Although Alec Baldwin repeatedly denies pulling the trigger, given the tests, findings and observations reported here, the trigger had to be pulled or depressed sufficiently to release the fully cocked or retracted hammer of the evidence revolver.”
And in a bit of a shocking reversal Alec Baldwin has once again been indicted on charges of involuntary manslaughter You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
The caveat is the charges are dismissed "without prejudice," meaning technically they can still be refiled in the future.
