Okay, bad news guys. I called the restaurant and talked to the manager. Turns out that they don't accept any reservations or private parties on Friday or Saturday nights, because those are their busiest nights and they simply can't spare the tables. This tells me that it really is a no-go. There's no way a group our size would be seated before late evening (like 10 pm or later). Seriously, the manager just turned away my business and didn't seem regretful at all.

So it looks like we'll need to find a different place for Friday night (and also something for Saturday).

I did a quick search on Opentable, and the best/closest I can do is a reservation at Morton's Steakhouse, which is about a 10 minute walk away. Alos, it's on the price side ($30-$40 entrees) so I'm not sure how you guys feel about that.

I'll keep looking...

Okay, here's an update. I am having a lot of trouble finding a place that will take a group as large as ours. The places that can take us want us to have a private dining room and order off of a menu that will be $50-$70 per person. I have sent out a few emails and am waiting to hear back from some people.

One possibility would be to make multiple reservations (say, 3 reservations for a party of 8) at the same restaurant for the same time. That would allow us to order directly off of the regular menu, but we might not all be seated together. Another opton would be for us to descend en masse at a place like Smashburger.

What do you all think?

I like the idea of we make multiple reservations, it at least guarantees we have seats.

Oh trust me, I'm not going to do anything without some kind of reservation. The question is, do we do it as one big 'private group; or try to book multiple reservations for 8?

The only thing I worry about is the reservations for the maybe's (they equal one table) .  I know being at separate tables is no fun, but i honestly think it is our only option.   I can volunteer to make one of them if you need me to.

When I was calling around yesterday, I said I was looking for a group of 20, which would include a few of the maybes.

I'll see what I can find today with multiple reservations.

Sorry, I have been sick and missed this discussion. I think the multiple reservations is probably the way to go.

I have tentatively made 3 reservations for 8 people at Ford's Filling Station. It is inside the JW Marriott at LA Live.

Okay, just  to throw a monkey wrench into everything...

I heard back from the event planner at Tom's Urban (a gastropub at LA Live).

They are willing to give us a semi-private dining room all for us which can hold up to 28 people. We can order off of the regular menu. The only downside is that we need an $850 minimum spend for the room (this includes both food and drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic). If we have 20 people, that's $42.50 per person. If we have 25 people, that's $34 per person.

What does everyone think? Would you like to have a room where we can all be together, or 3 separate reservations? Honestly, I'm guessing the cost would be similar in both places, but there's no 'minimum' at Ford's Filling Station.

I'm guessing the $850 doesn't include tip?  so should we say $40 to $50 a person?
