I really do think 2022 will happen.  While cons may not be up to what they use to be, they are happening.

I am definitely rolling my badges over to 2022 and will likely be trying for SE badges separately.

I'm also letting them roll over for 2022. The special edition in my opinion still might not work out as planned.

I'm a bit confused with the Special Edition con in November. The email states if you purchase a badge for it you'll automatically get a chance for prefer for SDCC 2023.

Is there not going to be a prereg for SDCC 2022 then? Or even a general sale for 2022?
I am aware people are transferring over their 2020 badges to 2022 but I'd imagine there were a lot of badges that got either refunded or getting turned into Special Edition 2021 badges.

I think it's just another benefit of going to Turkeycon.  You get returning registration.  Since 2022 is basically 2020 delayed, most of the tickets are already spoken for.  So the next comic-con with a clean badge sale will be 2023.

Right now it looks that way.  There may not have been a lot of refunds, and anybody that has a good 2020  badge (3 - 4 days or more) is not going to turn it into a Special Edition Badge.  The FOCC poll my be indicative of the overall rate of refund requests.  For the 2020 prereg, in my buying group, I was one of the ones that got picked to buy badges.  I bought for myself and two (2) others.  No one has requested a refund.

FoCC members tend to be a little more ‘enthusiastic’ about cons than the average, but not by too much. SDCC has become an event where only those who know what they’re doing succeed. So yes, this poll is likely indicative of the attendee group as a whole (perhaps skewed slightly toward rolling badges forward), which is why I am gathering the data. ;)

To counter this my friend and I had 2020 badges and asked for refunds. It was just a bad time. My friend has a poor immune system and gets sick easily so he didn't want to chance a con if COVID was still lingering around. And I didn't want to travel out alone. It was so nice to have that $200 plus back for the holidays.

I figure most of the people that are rolling over badges are California natives.

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion.  I'm not from California.

As you expressed, I think it depends a lot more on your situation and your desire to go to the Con.  These last two (2) years have been a heart break for me.  I can't wait to get back.

I’m from Minnesota. I rolled my badges over, and I’ll be trying to get badges to CCSE tomorrow. I can’t wait to see my California friends again.
