SDCC 2016 PRE-REGISTRATION Discussion Thread

Just got his email! Nothing really new, but exciting nevertheless


Please read the entire message below for important instructions!

Attendee Preregistration for Comic-Con 2016 will occur online sometime after Comic-Con 2015. There will be no onsite preregistration. Only those who purchased a Comic-Con 2015 attendee badge and retain their actual badge will be eligible to participate in Attendee Preregistration.

You must retain your Comic-Con 2015 badge to be eligible for Comic-Con 2016 Attendee Preregistration. Please do not throw away, give away, or lose your Comic-Con 2015 badge as it contains valuable information required to participate in preregistration.

Children who attend Comic-Con 2015, but will be age 13 prior to August 1, 2015 must keep their Comic-Con 2015 child badge if they would like to be eligible for preregistration. Without the physical child badge, they will not be able to register for an eligible Comic-Con Member ID or authorize their existing Member ID.

Professionals, guests of professionals, exhibitors, exhibitor-purchased attendee badges, volunteers, staff, retailers, and press will not be allowed to participate in Attendee Preregistration. Online registration for these categories will occur at a later date.

Eligible attendees will be notified, via email, with additional information regarding Attendee Preregistration sometime after Comic-Con 2015. The notification will be sent to the email associated with your Member ID account.

Please be sure to "opt-in" to email correspondence to receive the Comic-Con 2016 preregistration instructions. To review your opt-out selections, visit You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login and log in to your Member ID account. Select “OPT-OUTS” to change your communication preferences.

Im sure most of the previous groups will reform.  You will likely see a new 2016 pre reg thread start in a few days

My nephew was with my brother's family waiting in the Hall H line on Thursday late afternoon by the waterfront.  I wasn't there at the time but I was the one who originally began to hold our spot in line ~10am, so I do remember it became rather windy that afternoon. 

Anyway, when I got back from the Spreckles theater I found out what happened.  Apparently, he saw one of those darn youtubers--who are like celebrities to these kids nowadays--walking towards the side entrance of the Hilton.  He tried going after him alone and suddenly there was a huge gust of wind that was strong enough to detach his junior badge from his lanyard and blew it into the water.  He said two security guards witnessed it and told him he could just go to Sails to get another one, but then he decided not to do it when he found out he'd have to pay the full price of another badge.  About an hour later, he even asked three people who happened to be kayaking nearby to help him look for it by the water's edge.  They were kind enough to do a thorough search, but the current must've taken it to Neverland by then since there was no sign of it.

I told his mom to email SDCC  to try and ask for help so that he could have a chance to participate in pre-reg for 2016.  And that next time to take a picture of his badge just in case.

I also suspect we will be forming new buying groups and looking for folks to lead them.  If anyone is interested in leading a group we'd be happy to walk you through the process & get you set up with an area & spreadsheets

I could potentially lead a buying group if they're all full and we need a new one. I know there are probably tools that have been set up, but are there specific policies with it too?

we do have a 'leaders' area where we discuss how to approach situations & guidelines on what to do.   the older groups have developed their own way of organizing, with the younger groups we've put together some guidelines but more as suggestions then anything else

Interesting...so for general reg., just asking , enough groups will be available to join if no one makes a new group for that? I won't be shut out in joining a group?

There  are a lot of unknown factors for the existing groups right now, mainly how many are coming back.  If everyone in our group comes back, for example, we may not have open slots for pre-reg or even open reg for new group members.  Once the official buying group thread gets setup, keep an eye on it.  Everyone will be reporting there.

Pure speculation, but i would bet it's a certainty that a new group will get created, plus some of the pre-existing groups will have rooom.
