Finished Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz.  It was an interesting story...but the style or the writing distracted me...I would call it...overly verbose?  But it was a recommendation from a friend so I pushed through it.  Good an interesting story tho.

If you're up for it, there's 6 more books in the series, worth it IMHO if you liked the first. I'll have to go back and look at the style, I'm not really much of a Koontz fan but I liked these.  Ticktock too, kind of a horror comedy?

Yes, have read - and recommend - the Thrawn Trilogy and the Hand of Thrawn (long live the EU).

Seconded! My son quite liked them too. Thrawn always reminded me a bit of Father Brown somehow, and we got to meet Zahn at SDCC some years ago and I was all excited to ask him if there was a connection. He just gave me a weird look and said no and that he had based him a bit on Sherlock Holmes. (I still think I'm right.)

Been working through a pile of old, dusty books about Iceland and the sagas. Wonderful stuff but my sinuses are not happy.

While waiting as patiently as I can for Brandon Sanderson's next installment of the Stormlight Archive, which is due out in November, I've been doing some "light" reading. John Hearne's Iron Druid series is an enjoyable distraction.

Reading 'Ready Player One' for the first time, I know bad nerd.

Wow, I guess this book was written for my generation. I know almost every reference and played D&D back then. We never played "that module" , my brother (DM) wrote most of what we played.

Your brother wrote your campaigns and was the DM? You do know you led a blessed life, right?

That's awesome, Jim! Does he still play?

We did play 'that module' and I even DM'd it when we played the 'Return to 'that module' module' as adults. And the text-based computer game they reference later, I played that too....

Ah, I feel both old and young at the same time...  :-\

When I started my career as a professor, I had a house two blocks from campus. I hosted marathon AD&D sessions with some very talented and imaginative students as DM's and players. Yes, Transmute, I'm feeling old and young as well.

Bought the new Thrawn book from Barnes and Noble, but my son stole it, (and is taking his sweet time reading it  ::) )

In the meantime, working through Death Note. I'm not typically much of a manga or anime person but am enjoying it.

I read Man in the High Castle and hated it. My opinion, it felt like a blurb of a bigger book. I started watching the show on Amazon and it's better.

I just finished Rise of the Governor and now I'm finally reading Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

"A Conversation in Blood (Egil & Nix #3)" by Paul S. Kemp.  Read his stuff in the Forgotten Realms RPG Fantasy genre...really like how he writes.  Just started...
