Yes, I've seen that in more than one place, including a news article.

Ugh. That's too bad. Missing Easter at home was the only thing that sucked about my first WC experience (well that and the hotel but that's a separate matter). I'd love to attend WC in it's entirety as a 2nd time attendee but now I probably won't go at all.

LACC is so spread out...difficult to run around quickly back and forth.

Does anyone know/recommend a good hotel near the center for next year? Yes, I have been looking and found some good ones (3-stars/4-stars), but some insider stuff would be nice/helpful in order to make a final decision.  ^-^

The closest hotels to the Los Angeles Convention Center are the JW Marriott, Hotel Figeroa, and Luxe City Center Hotel, all of which are near the L.A. Live area behind the convention center and Staples Center.  JW Marriott is generally much more expensive per night than the other hotels in the area though.

Here's a map of the hotels around the area:

Zero's got some good suggestions but I'd wait for the Wondercon special room rates to be released before deciding on a hotel.

Thank you Zero! Helps out a lot! :)

@Carlo
Most likely I will wait. That said, I like to look ahead in order to have the planning process go much more  smoothly. I also will be busy planning for SDCC '16 around the time WonderCon is happening. Overall, less things to worry about the better things will be.

Glad I could help!  It took a little while to get the map to show the hotels.  >__<;; Sometimes, Google Maps is finicky, ha ha.

Definitely wait for the WonderCon hotel block rates.  It's usually a better deal than the regular rates.

Hmmm... I might go one or two days as a volunteer.  We'll see.   I haven't quite figured out the logistics for that.

(Truthfully, I think it'll be weird for me to be at the Los Angeles Convention Center, or LACC, so early in the year, ha ha!  I'm usually there around Fourth of July weekend... *laughs*)

JW Marriott currently looks like $269/night for that weekend. While that’s cheaper than usual, I’m still going to wait for the official blocks. I wonder how much of a reduction it’ll be.

For comparison...here is this year's hotel block for Anime Expo, also held at the LACC. (Pulled from June as they’ve taken them down now.)

They look a little high, but there could be a couple additional factors for that: AX is bigger (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login, unique not turnstile) and it’s held in the summer, this year on July 4 weekend.

Though I may just stay in my favorite place, the Miyako in Little Tokyo. It’s ~2 miles away, which is just above walking distance but there's a direct bus route. Little Tokyo is also a good area to be at night, with shops/restaurants/bars many that are open late.

So with those hotels at anime expo, is there a shuttle that takes you to the convention center?
A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting”
