When Will SDCC 2023 Returning Registration Be Held?

I survived my Disneyland trip without pre-reg happening so now that means it will be the weekend of Oct 22 when I'm out of town for a wedding. At least it will be in the morning so I won't miss the actual thing, but sorry family-I'm only doing pre-wedding activities if it's not comic-con day!

Yeah this could be "interesting," huh.  Obvs the WonderCon or SDCC SE sales logistics are not any sort of metric for the success of SDCC sales, so this change feels like a mega crapshoot to me.  Based on previous sales as well as the Hotel lotto, this feels like the old wild wild west days when CCI first sold badges, where it was a virtual free-for-all of chaos.  I liked the old way better, even if there was an unknown component to it: at least with that system, it felt like everyone had a random shot.

OR, as stated in the article, it could be OK?  They could still hypothetically have a different system that's still random albeit now with the "walking man" that gives one an idea how quickly they're going through or not.

Maybe there's still no where near enough information yet and I'm overthinking things.  Only time will tell...

In addition to being selected randomly, If I remember correctly, for CCSE, there was a timer that told you how long it would be before you were selected to buy a badge.

That's how I remember it.  I kind of remember the timer being a bit 'off,' where it said "you have 10 mins to complete transaction" or something but you really only had 5mins?  I don't remember, I just remember mild panic or something re: time

Thanks for posting this for those of us who didn't go to the CCI page and instead relied on our imaginations for information 

I'll be curious to see how the new system works, and hope it is even more efficient and more reliable than the old way!

CCI has stated that returning registration (also known as pre-registration) will take place in September or October. Let's start taking bets as to when it will be!

The Returning Registration thread usually gets posted on announcement day! Last three announcements were September 30, 2019, October 2, 2018, and October 10, 2017.

My guess, announce on Oct 17th, Sale on 29th.

The concern, at least on our part, is exactly how we’ll get access to Queue-It — and CCI isn’t very specific in their update. Will that direct link to Queue-It be e-mailed out or available a few days prior to the sale? Or will thousands upon thousands of attendees be expected to login to Configio’s servers for the link on the morning of the sale, causing serious delays and technical issues, as happened during volunteer registration for SDCC 2022 (and to say nothing of what a disaster the exclusives and autograph lotteries were)?

While I didn't have experience of what happened during volunteer registration (and only vaguely remember reading about it), I do recall the clusterbuss of a process that the exclusives portal signup was: something I did experience, and something that feels closest to what Returning Registration mayhem would be like.

Only time will tell, and hopefully everything is smooth as silk...
