Comic-Con International > SDCC Registration and Badges
SDCC 2023 Open Registration will be Saturday, November 5
ALF:
Basically this is exactly like returning reg except with that warning which I have no idea how they are able to enforced. 😞
sessionka:
Open Reg is the same weekend as the clock changes (fall back one hour). That doesn't really affect us in the US/North America, because the change technically occurs at 2:00 AM on that Sunday, but I wonder if/how that affects those internationally in other time zones.
Side Note:
My first open reg was 2015. I didn't read anything on the site. I just followed the instructions that came in the email. I'm on the east coast. When they said the waiting room would open at 8:00 AM pacific, for some reason, in my head I thought that meant 5:00 AM my time. Instead of adding 3 hours, I subtracted. Sure enough, I was up at 5:00 AM ready to log on. And sure enough, I got the notification I was early. :). If there had been other people around, I would have been embarrassed. I mean, come on, I'm an adult WHO WORKS IN IT, and... I WAS A MATH MAJOR. Go figure. :)
Oh well, that was a better mistake than missing open reg altogether.

Register or LoginHopefully the waitlist comes through for preview night.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but preview night is mostly about getting into the exhibit hall a day early. So it's great if you are looking for exclusives. For someone like me that rarely even goes to the exhibit hall, it's not really worth it right? There's not something like a party up in sails is there?
I passed on preview night during returning registration and now I'm wondering if I should try for it during open.

It would be easy to enforce as long as the login requirement works. Then each queue it session would be bound to a member ID. If the member ID of the person registering doesn't match that member ID then it would mean that it was a shared link.

The other piece of PN is some networks run pilots. I saw the pilot for Manifest one year. That was fun. :)
The other plus for those people that do check out the Exhibit floor is you can check out what's available without worrying about missing a panel.
I haven't gone to PN in a couple of years, for a few reasons:
I usually skip asking for it in my buying group so that I can help out in open reg
If I get to stay at MMM, they've been running movies in one of their ballrooms. It's been fun to watch either something I've seen or something I haven't seen while sipping a cup of coffee and eating a snack. :)
I got 4 days during pre-reg, so I'll be helping during Open reg. If I'm one of the people that gets picked to buy a badge, and PN is still available, I'm toying with the idea of picking it up for myself. If I don't get it, though, I won't be upset with that.

There is no need for pre login yet again before hitting the waiting room.
