Title: Ballroom 20
Post by: hikanteki on July 09, 2017, 09:37:49 PM
Ballroom 20 has many big name panels on Saturday. I'm interested in a few of the earlier ones (Riverdale and the Simpsons). I have not tried for this block in the past so I am not sure how to gauge its popularity. Does this room require camping out/getting in line before about 7? I am willing to line up a few hours ahead of time but if it requires getting there earlier than about 7 then I'll just skip it and do something else on Saturday. (I am fine with any seat.)

the more popular panels in ballroom 20 are at the end of the day so unfortunately youll have to camp out id say atleast at 5 am if not sooner. i havent been in ballroom 20 in 5 years so Im not sure whats changed. I dont think they do a wristband syste like hall h though so it could be a little more hectic.

I usually get to the Ballroom 20 line around 7:30-8am and I make it in fine. I think at that time I get the B card when they pass out those Line section cards.

The first panel on Saturday is Once Upon a Time which has a sizeable draw but it doesn't fill up B20; usually the back blocks of chairs have just a few people for this panel.  Hall H has a monster panel line up on Saturday will draw people away from B20.  I think you'll be all right but I'd check B20 as soon as you are able to on Saturday just to be safe.  Wish I could give you something more concrete.

The worst that B20 ever was, was when Joss Whedon had a panel a few years back.  People were camping out the day before it.  X-Files was also that day.  My family and I showed up two hours early for X-Files just to be safe and barely made it in.  Last year, I didn't have any issue getting into B20.  The line moved quickly and I was inside in under a half hour.

I got in line around 1pm for the DC TV block of panels last year and was able to make it in before the first one even started, which was at ?3pm?. I know people talked last year about how the exhibit hall seemed (relatively) less crowded last year with the new badges being more difficult to counterfeit, but if that's the case, it certainly must have had the same effect in shortening lines for panels.

Thanks all! :) Sounds like it can vary a bit but the general consensus seems to be that a couple hours should be fine. (And if I don't get in by then, then I'll just find something else to do!)

Update: I got in line at around 8:15 and easily made it in before the first panel at 10. I talked to someone who got there at 9 and still got in. However, shortly before the panel started at 10 they announced that the line went all the way out to Seaport Village. I stayed through Supergirl (around 4) and it looked like there was decent turnover throughout the day, so having to wait a couple hours at most sounds about right. Thanks again everyone for your help!
