Press is open,

this is such BS

NYCC Press bulls**t...
Entry into pre-show lotteries for exhibitor exclusives, private autographing, or reserved panel seating (sorry, but these are reserved for NYCC fans buying tickets)

We need to be able to go into the lotteries for panels in case we are not approved from the media outlets; also we work very hard sometimes hours and hours so to exclude is dumb...

I was JUST coming here to post this. I'm so pissed about this. I didn't win any of the lotteries last year, but we're still attendees and deserve to be eligible for these. ESPECIALLY panels.

i put in more hours writing an article than anything else, taking away the one or two benefits of being press just feels wrong. They were going to do that at ECC and backtracked but I guess not here

So we have to buy a ticket to enter a panel that we want to cover for our media outlets.

I can't afford to buy a ticket, so I hope they keep it 50/50 like they did last year. I was able to get into everything that way last year.

I wonder if we can attend as a guest. Like if a friend of mine wins and adds me as their guest. I didn't enter myself.

I don’t think we are asking for VIP treatment but the treatment of Press in such a way brings up a question - how do event organizers want to treat the folks who get the word out???

We are attending as fans but also working to share our experiences, etc.

Provide us with a option separate from attendees then - at least we get somewhat of a fair shake. For example allow Press to purchase at Funko at the end of the day, allow for stand-by on the autograph line, etc.

that's to the point. no ones asking for VIP treatment but at least allow us to enter the lottos; just because I am working a show does not mean I should not be able to have fun at the show as well. Not that I won any lottos last year, I got for stuff I didn't want/need but at least let us enter.

I was even asked at a recent meet up if I had fun. I just think that needs to be re-evaluated.

ress getting an exclusive is not the same as exhibitor getting an exclusive. Some press want an exclusive cause they want to review it, others want because they are covering these companies and they themselves collect and want that same experience.

Same goes for panels sometimes we don’t always hear back from media contacts but still want to cover a show; allowing us to at least enter the lotteries makes it easier and less of a stressful show if we get a spot in a panel we intend to cover than having to come in early and line up to try and hope to get into a panel.

I won an autograph signing in 2016 and I gave the signed photo away on the blog. It was super popular. Even if it's not for me, it's not like I'm selling it for profit or anything.

The lotteries are completely random. We don't have any better chance than regular people if we enter.

wording for panels were removed, still think it is wrong about the autos and exclusives. most press don't get paid and are working hard throughout the con. I've even integrated autographs into an article one year as I covered Black Sails - panel, press room, and autographing

Well, that's something at least. I mean, unless they split all the lotteries up this year, I don't see how we can enter for panels and not for anything else.

Hmm I entered for a Pro badge this year instead of Press... it also seems to have the same restrictions...so I can't enter the Funko lottery??????? Fuhhhhhhh wtf they should make that a rule for exhibitors not for Pro/Press

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login that you'll be notified about Industry badges by June 1. I'm assuming that means Pro badges, since press applications are open for a while.

Just got my approval! Woo-hoo! I've been waiting for that since last Wednesday. Every time I got an email I'd get excited, and then it would NOT be ReedPop and I'd get bummed.
