Hello everyone! I've been lurking for a couple months, but I couldn't resist getting involved any longer, so here I am!
Misha - Portland, OR - turn 18 years old on April 12th
SDCC first timer this year! Will also be my first time in Cali.
I have yet to attend any sort of con, but I hope to spend at least one day at the WW Portland Comic Con in a couple weeks.
I love music, concerts, dancing, etc. (Bet you couldn't have guessed by my username ;)) I'm a pro concert-goer at this point, which I feel is helpful preparation for battling SDCC. Bring on the huge crowds of sweaty people, long hours waiting in line, aching feet/body, and celebrity encounters!
My main fandom interests that I intend to pursue at SDCC are: Hannibal, Almost Human, Sleepy Hollow, Marvel, Orphan Black, Star Trek, Teen Wolf, Supernatural, and literally anything involving Lee Pace, Tom Hiddleston, and Zachary Levi. Obviously I'll be keeping very busy lol. Here's to hoping I can land a 4 day w/ preview badge, and lots of Nerd HQ panel tickets!

Welcome ! Misha

Hi Ross and Misha, you have come to the right place!
I live in San Diego, and I've been going to Comic con for awhile, but this group of people has a ton of good info. I don't post much but I'm in here a lot as we get closer to the event. Its nice to have all of these resources.
Hopefully I can give some helpful info sometime.

Welcome to the forums, Misha! ^-^/  I'm glad that you have decided to turn to the dark side--I mean, to join us as an official forum member!  We're happy to have you.  ^.~

Definitely let us know how the WW Portland Comic Con goes!  I'm sure there are a lot of people on the forums, including myself, who would love to hear about it, even if it's just for one day.

Speaking of Lee Pace... I think he's amazing as Thranduil.  Ha ha.

As for SDCC badges, my advice is to start teaming up with people to help each other with registration.  Things will get rolling in the next couple of months, and it helps to be prepared.

Hi Rob!  I don't believe we've met (well, you know what I mean, in the "online" sense of "having met").  Ha ha.  Welcome to the forums as well!  It's nice to have another Comic-con veteran and S.D. local with us!  I'm sure you'll be one of the people to ask about bus routes and good restaurant locations around town. ^-^d

Hey, hey folks. My name is Mel from the San Francisco Bay Area.  I'm a number cruncher by trade and a PoP culture enthusiast by heart.  I'm a fan of Star Wars, Star Trek, and almost anything Joss Whedon does (but I could never get into Dollhouse). My favorite writer is Brian K Vaugh (BKV) and my favorite artist is the late great Michael Turner.

I started going to SDCC when you could still get tix a couple of months before the show.  Kind of disheartening to see how ultra competitive it has become for tix and hotels now but it is what it is.  My favorite moment was running into Simon Pegg on the floor taking a quick pic with him and smiling liking an idiot for the rest of the day.  And that is why I continue to still try for tix, "the moment when.....".

Welcome Mel!

Now if you'll go over to this thread:  just kidding.

Feel free to wander about the forum and post questions or suggestions if you have them.  :)

Great to see you here, Mel! You'll find a bunch of us from the SF Bay Area here. I've also been going since the 'easy' days of buying Con tickets, and I've witnessed the nearly overnight transformation into a mad scramble.

Hope you enjoy poking around the site!

...The Broken Yoke for a hearty brunch before preview night...

I'm down for this again. Hopefully, I'll focus on eating the food while it's still warm as well as catching up with everyone...!

Now that is a good pool bet. The meetup was great and I certainly would like to organize one again. If I score PN tix I will be in town in time to hit up Broken Yolk again before I start lining up.
