Very true. I met some people who do everything comic-con related except go to comic-con. They take part in Hotelpocalypse to get a hotel and then only go to the offsites. They've been doing it for years.
Hotelpocalypse is a fun name.Is there a reason that the hotels don’t check to see if your a Con attendee before letting people book at the Com rates?
.... In fact there's an argument to made that they would almost prefer non-badgeholders to get the discounted rooms since people who already have a badge are more likely to bite the bullet and pay inflated rates because they've already secured a badge. That last bit is just speculation, though.
Because the hotels are only required (by contract with CCI) to offer a certain number of rooms at the discounted con rate. They are able to sell all the rest of their rooms at market value (usually 2x to 10x the discounted rate).
Interesting, never heard that before. It would really suck to have to travel to San Diego for work or something during SDCC!
Thanks, but we've already got an apartment booked! Just hoping we can get tickets in the morning Sent from my SNE-LX1 using Tapatalk
Did you and your family wind up getting badges?
