Will there be buying groups for NYCC VIP tickets?

i don't see why not ......  ;)

trust is a bit more necessary due to the lack of a name on the badge

I too, would be interested in a buying group.

I'm specifically hoping for an VIP badge, as I've been saving up for one.

I also hope that NYCC goes back to selling badges in waves again like they did in years past. The queue system leads to nothing but 404 errors and heartache, and I really hope they avoid using it this year, or find a better way to implement it.

But mostly, I just want a VIP badge more than anything else, and I'm willing to help others buy one as well.

Edited to add: I realize that they had the queue system back when they sold badges in waves. But what I meant to say is, I think they should go back to selling them in batches and not all at once in order to avoid disaster again.

Do you think they will have a Netflix panel with the stars from Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones?

You mean Jessica?  :) Most likely...(don't forget Iron Fist who was just cast (possibly) today) since they're filmed in NYC. Noticed a lot of shows that are filmed locally (Gotham, The Following, Person of Interest) always make repeat appearances at NYCC

Out of curiosity, will there only be a buying group for the VIP badges this year (as it was with last year), or will this encompass the rest of the badge types as well (i.e. 4 day, 3 day, etc)?

i do not know.  it really depends on what folks want.  I am looking for assistance in the group set up as i've committed to learning a back end application.  If youre interested, [member=3884]mlgagne[/member] maybe [member=2339]NCDS[/member] is also interested?

I would suggest we don't open it up to various days such as on Sunday or only Saturday as the single days don't tend to sell out fast and it makes it easy for mistakes to occur during the buying process.   The main focus should be the VIP since that is what sells out the fastest.  I think adding a 4 day pass would be good also, I think that sells out fast.

[member=1]alyssa[/member], I would definitely be interested in helping out with the set up!  :)

And I agree with you [member=2339]NCDS[/member] - adding an option for the 3 and 4 day passes will be much more beneficial than adding single days. I know that I'm usually looking for one of those badge types because they are more budget-friendly for me and tend to work well with my con plans, but they are always sold out by the time I am admitted to a buying session! And if that's the case, I can only imagine how much faster the VIPs must go...

LOL, no worries... my high school Principe use to regularly say my name over the school wide loud speaker "Elipshia"   after that- everything else seems tame plus you were close ;)

Title: NYCC 2016 Group buying?
Post by: da1nonliiny on April 02, 2016, 04:38:13 PM
Are there any groups out there that are willing to let me join them for buying tickets?
Every year NYCC gets difficult for buying tickets.
I didn't get to attend last year because of my job hours being so inconsistent that I wasn't able to purchase or try to purchase tickets.

Hey everyone! Long time lurker and seasoned vet retrieving NYCC badges for the past 5 years. I am willing to help out this year if all are willing. I would first love to say thanks to Alyssa and MLLNY for all their hard work they do here on the boards. They run a tight ship here. The only thing that concerns me is the transferring of funds. I am up for talk about that though. I have been fortunate enough to get the Ultimate VIP passes for the past several years and while I do admit, last year was the hardest, it is the most frustrating process of all lol. I'm here for all if needed.

[member=5695]comiclover86[/member] welcome to the forum, certainly we are going to be doing a buy group and we can discuss the funds issue as we are setting up, part of it is trust and some smarts.

If you were a UA pass holder the last few years I may have come across you on line, but again welcome to the boards

we are going to start having the discussion after sdcc hotels-

the group leaders have run groups for sdcc so are very comfortable running groups & i've got full confidence in their ability.
we have the talent
we have the technology
we have the space
so i would say expect an announcement by the end of next week, April 14th or 15th.  Most likely that will include an invitation to join a google doc and a nycc buying group area on the forum.

IIRC the limit was 2 VIP tickets per order.  There were some here that I believe got in more than once and were able to purchase more than the limit although they did say they were going to delete those sales...not sure if there was a limit on 4 days though...

PLEASE NOTE: In order to keep things fair, we currently have a limit of 2 VIP Tickets per VIP Ticket Type. There is a limit of 4 Tickets per Single Day or Multi-Day Ticket types. You cannot purchase more than 10 Tickets total per order. If we determine that you are ordering under different names and multiple addresses, all of your orders will be cancelled immediately.

We don't know when or what types of tix will be on sale yet

Read pop has had in the past VIP tickets which have enabled a variety of perks.  There is also a 4 day(thurs-sun) & a 3 day(fri-sun).

We have been known to treat this just like badge sales for sdcc- with a sheet buying groups etc.  there is a bit of a difference tho, primarily due to the lack of names attached to the tickets.  Consequently, trust is much more of a factor then at sdcc.
A bunch of the nycc forum folk have been involved in tix sales for many years in the past so there is a foundation of trust.  In addition there are crossover folk like myself who go to both and have a history of trustworthyness ;)

[member=4892]miclpea[/member] to be honest, idk which are the 'best' there's cheap ones for midtown, there's close ones which aren't really close.  they tend not to have the rush that sdcc has so it's more an idea of keeping your eyes out for the nycc hotel block to open then anything else.

i have a condo booked via airbnb across the river.  it's a lot cheaper & an 10-15 min bus ride into Port authority

I just remember that after you bought the tickets, there was a long list of potential hotels, and it was through a 3rd party site.
And their rates weren't that great -- for the hotel we stayed at, it was slightly cheaper booking it directly with the hotel using my AAA discount than going through NYCC's third party.
It's not SDCC -- once you've bought NYCC tickets, you can really just go on any hotel booking site and book it.  Or you can go now, use a site where you don't have to put down a deposit or prepay, and book a room hoping you get tickets, and if not, cancel.

A lot of effort is going into creating the sheets used for this sale.  I have to say they look pretty spiffy.  The sheets and being a member of the group is going to require effort and some amount of hoops by the user.  this is to compensate for the lack of a name attached to each ticket which in turn requires way way more trust within the buying group.

Keep in mind the folks running this group are veteran organizers of SDCC and have successfully gotten badges for a vast majority of their members.  The process & procedures may seem over the top to some- to them i say, you have a choice, to join & fully participate OR not & take what fate gives you.
I personally think stacking the odds in my favor is the preferred course of action.

I think, in the next few days we'll get a google form set up & ready for folks to fill out-  this'll be to get into the private area- with questions like, have you used the nycc/sdcc buying group last year- etc
Hopefully that'll get us all into the private area where we can out line the specific process

It is in the groups best interested to have a fair amt of members- we are not trying to make it elitists but rather really really trying to protect the group members
it is a huge leap of faith to buy and/or have someone buy a  ticket for you.  we need to make sure the process is as well thought out so  we can insure that everyone is protected as much as possible.

If I had to guess, I would say there will be VIP and the elite VIP tickets. I have been going for 6 years now and they have had them every year. Those sell out even faster than the 4 day!!!!

Sorry I've been absent lately, guys - work has been really tough on me since the SDCC hotel sale. I guess spring is "deadline project overload" time (to put things in context, I work for a division of a publishing company with only about 8 full time employees, so there aren't many people to hand things off to, haha). But I promise that I'm still checking FoCC on Tapatalk and NYCC's site/social media pages daily  ;)

Just a thought... anyone think its possible they do not give any advance notice for ticket sales this year similar to how it is done for PAX tickets. They are both ReedPOP events so I always found it odd that one gives notice and other does not.

Anything is possible, but I don't think they will.  Their goal is to make everything as easy going as possible and not to upset their customers.  It might not be a lot of notice but I think they will give notice

FWIW, I stopped off at Midtown Comics during my lunch break.  I asked while checking out if they had any insider info into when ticket sales will start.  The staff member not surprisingly said "I don't know anything", but the look theygave while saying it led me to believe it's VERY soon.  Can't wait!

The BCEC, the convention center where PAX is held is bigger than the Javits center where NYCC is held.

The turnstile attendee count at NYCC is way higher than the count at PAX.(East)

These scalpers tend to have bots that allows them to purchase these tickets at an advantage. I do hope Showclix will counter this problem this year.

Same here, For PRB club show one year they actually shut the sale down and refunded all tickets bought by bots.  Then they re-opened it once they figured out how to block them.  I give them kudos for not doing their best to prevent scalpers.

http://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/Tickets/NYCC-Ticket-Process-and-Show-News/

NYCC Fans,

Each year when we take over the Javits Center in October, we have one priority in mind: you, the NYCC Fans. We don’t run NYCC year after year because we love hanging out by the Hudson or we need to reach our step goal in October, we do this because we want to provide the experience of a lifetime to everyone who attends NYCC each year.

With that in mind, we want the Ticket buying experience to be as smooth and fair as possible. And while supply and demand still means that some Fans who want to attend New York Comic Con might not get Tickets or might not get the Ticket type that they want, it’s our mission to eliminate (let’s be honest — the goal is to completely annihilate) the amount of scalpers and resellers who end up with Tickets. So this year NYCC will be changing the way Tickets are sold and requiring Fan Verification.

What does Fan Verification mean? It means we are requiring anyone interested in attending NYCC to fill out a profile between May 20 and June 13. We recognize that this is an extra step before buying your Tickets and requires more commitment from you, but we also know that as true Fans of the Show, you won’t mind making it tough for the supervillains out there. It means you guys have to do a bit more work to get your Ticket, but it will help make sure NYCC Tickets get into the hands of Fans. We truly thank you for your maximum effort (as our favorite merc with the mouth would say).

This is being done with you in mind and the hope that more of you will get the opportunity to experience NYCC. Below you will find full details of the changes that are being made to the NYCC Ticketing process along with other important NYCC Show news.

Fan Verification is required for every individual who would like to attend NYCC 2016. Read more
All NYCC Ticket types will go on sale at the same time. Read more
NYCC will no longer be selling VIP Tickets. Read more
NYCC 2016 Tickets will only be sold online through the NYCC Ticket website. Tickets will not be on sale at retailers or any events leading up to NYCC 2016. Read more
All Verified Fans will be notified via email 48 hours prior to NYCC Tickets going on sale. This email will include a unique link where you will be able to purchase Tickets (first-come, first-served) when they go on sale. Read more
NYCC Tickets will still be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Fan Verification does not guarantee NYCC Tickets or the type of Ticket you want. Read more
Take your time and fill out your Fan Verification profile completely. Don’t rush through it. When you fill out your profile has no effect on when you can purchase NYCC Tickets. Read more
Each NYCC Ticket must be individually assigned to someone who created a Fan Verification profile. You can buy more than one Ticket, but there is a limit of one Ticket per person per day. If your friend or family member did not fill out a Fan Verification profile, you will not be able to purchase their Ticket. Read more
We will be rolling New York Super Week into our new series NYCC Presents, continuing our tradition of expanding New York Comic Con content into the City. Read more
Whew! We know that’s a lot to take in, but we hope this clarifies the new NYCC Ticket buying process and updates surrounding the Show. Our goal is that Fan Verification will smash scalpers and resellers (Hulk style) while providing you with the smoothest Ticket buying experience possible. We truly want to make this year better than the last and we are confident that these new changes are steps in the right direction.

Thank you for your commitment and passion for the Show and willingness to take these extra steps to help us get more Tickets into your hands. We’re looking forward to giving you even more amazing content to experience with us and can’t wait to reveal more of what we’ve been working on for you. NYCC 2016 is going to be our best Show yet and it’s all going to start with Fan Verification improving the Ticket buying process for you.

We hope to see you in October so we can reach our step goals together (kidding… sort of). If you have any questions please reach out to our team via email.

Stay nerdy,
Lance Fensterman

I only wanted a 4-day badge to begin with, so this doesn't affect me as much as it affects anyone who wanted VIP. But the process looks like it's beginning to echo SDCC's - i.e. creating a verification profile ahead of time to be eligible to buy badges, and having each badge be attached to a single member. I'm actually impressed with NYCC's initiative to fix the problems from last year! Now, hopefully it works not only in theory, but also in execution...

I just hope the website doesn't constantly timeout during the checkout process.  Is that too much to ask for?

Should be interesting this year. Wonder how crazy the badge sales are going to be now since VIP is gone...

Also, no comic store sales...

I think they will still be a little insane.  Especially if they haven't solved their server issues.  Only time will tell :)

I was shocked  :o to see that they were eliminating the VIP tickets, seems strange for a "for profit" to do that.

I just read that tickets are NOT refundable.  I have not been to NYCC before.  Is that standard for them?  Below is taken from their ticket info:

"NYCC Tickets are non-transferrable. They are also non-upgradeable, non-refundable and non-resellable. They are yours to have and to hold until the Show is over."

Me too! I've never attended a ReedPop con and always sort of side-eyed them b/c they were for-profit. I can't help but wonder if keeping all the VIP lines separate, maintaining the lounge, extra security to make sure only VIPs had access to their stuff, added up to more cost than the VIP badge sales brought in.

Very disappointing that they are not going to have VIP tickets this year. The VIP lounge and not having to wait in the super long line to get into the con was worth it alone. It's funny because waiting on the long line to get into SDCC doesn't bother me as much as the waiting on the long line to get into NYCC does. I've also been disappointed in the panels the last 2 years at NYCC so not waiting in line and the quick access to the show floor helped make up for what i felt were not enough and somewhat disappointing panels. It's strange because i don't feel like i want or need SDCC to offer VIP tickets but with NYCC i almost don't want to go without the VIP tickets. Something about the way they run the lines and the panels and just the whole show compared to SDCC that makes me feel like i am going to have a much morse time without the VIP tickets.

I had lingering doubts about not attending this year, but that aspect of it convinced me not to go. The Ultimate VIP made my con last year, and it was fantastic! Without it, I'd be much more stressed and get a lot less done. If I want to wait in lines all day, I'll go to SDCC. ;)

But yeah, I'm shocked too. Why wouldn't they just double the price for VIP if it was costing them so much? It would still sell out!

lets be honest they were fed up with VIPs at NYCC. They still do VIPs at all other shows even upcoming 2017 SWCO supposedly is having VIPs but they got tired of it here.

'Fairness' is a nice way of saying it

Does anyone have a ballpark idea of how many ultimate VIP and special access VIP badges were sold? It does seem like a lot of work but the ticket costs were a lot higher. That being said, I had an ultimate VIP badge last year, and it was awesome. Now it's back to the wristband lines!

at least I'll be saving $600 this year. or at least putting it to the D23 Expo pool when they announce their VIP tickets went up by $1000.

I feel the same way. If this wasn't a local con for me i would not be going this year. Since no travel is involved for me to go i figure whatever i do and see at the con is good enough. But i'm definitely not looking forward to it as much.

ummm, the difference between being in a sm city in SoCal in July VS a large city, way north in Oct?

^^ might have something to do with it-  I'd have no concerns throwing a sleeping bag down at sdcc- nycc not so much

That's part of it. It's also just something about the whole experience being different at SDCC vs NYCC. The line at SDCC feels like it's part of the whole experience, the line at NYCC feels like it's just waiting on a long line. I can't really put it in words what the difference is but for me there is a difference.

oh no, there is a difference aside from the physical- the closest thing i've been able to ascribe it to is the people themselves- having grown up for a bit in nyc & lived in New england all my life- there's a big difference between the people in general.

^This. Times 1,000. TBH, I would feel 100% safe camping out overnight at SDCC all by myself if I had to. At NYCC, I...would not, haha.

Well, it's unfortunate, but I still plan to go. Really looking forward to catching up with a long time friend that i haven't seen in years. However, being a Floridian (lived here over 13 years now) my blood is thin and I would not want to camp out on the cold sidewalks of NYC in October.

Damn all those complainers... I bet they feel bad about it now.

I do like the membership idea, although 2 points on that...

1. They are giving people about 6 weeks to sign up. It takes people years to sign up for a SDCC membership... I can only imaging the problems and complaints on that now. Will people even know about it before it's too late? I bet it takes a lot longer for tickets to sell out (if at all).
2. I'm a little confused over the you are only allowed to buy 1 ticket per day thing. Are they being literal, meaning 1 Thursday, 1 Friday, 1 Saturday, 1 Sunday or do they mean I can buy 1 (of my 4 per person) per day until i reach said 4? I assume that we will have to put member id's into the system when we are buying the badges.

Oh, one last thing... I bet all those people on STUB HUB are running for the hills now... oops.

You make a good point. The casual comic con attendee will 100% miss the June 20th deadline to sign up. And correct me if I am wrong, if you don't sign up you can't buy a ticket after the deadline. This will definitely effect the speed tickets sell out and like you said, if they even do at all.

I think so. They need to get the money from somewhere and if there is no VIP then they need to raise the regular [passes to cover it.

I am looking at this as a sincere effort by ReedPop for a unique setting such as NYC. I do think that many fans will not hear of this and they will be too late.  I look at the SDCC Facebook page where there are still people who did not know about their Member ID process, which has been in place for years now.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fan Verification

Why is NYCC changing the Ticket buying process?

Our mission is to eliminate the amount of scalpers and resellers who end up with NYCC Tickets and get those Tickets directly into the hands of our Fans. We believe required Fan Verification will help accomplish this goal.

What is Fan Verification?

Fan Verification is a new mandatory process for any Fan interested in attending NYCC 2016, whether you plan to buy your Ticket yourself or someone plans to buy your Ticket for you. When Fan Verification opens, you will fill out a profile and the name and email you use in your profile is what will give you the opportunity to purchase NYCC 2016 Tickets when they go on sale. Keep reading these FAQs for further details!

Through this Fan Verification process, any known scalpers and resellers as well as anyone who shows signs of supervillain activity (creating false emails, creating multiple profiles, etc.) will not be verified and will be unable to purchase NYCC Tickets. You can only fill out one Fan Verification profile per email address and each Fan can only have one profile.

Who needs to fill out a Fan Verification profile for NYCC 2016 Tickets?

All Fans (13 years of age at the time of NYCC and older) who hope to attend NYCC 2016 must fill out a Fan Verification profile. You will not be able to purchase a Ticket or have one purchased for you if you have not created a Fan Verification profile.

If you do not fill out a Fan Verification profile, you will not have the opportunity to buy NYCC Tickets and you will not be able to have someone who has been Fan Verified to buy Tickets for you.

Make sure to gather your friends, family, neighbors, dogs and cats (just kidding on those last two) and make sure everyone fills out a profile during the Fan Verification timeframe.

The only Fans who do not need to be Fan Verified are kids who will be ages 6-12 at the time of NYCC 2016 and will be using a NYCC 2016 Adult Ticket or a Sunday Kids Ticket. Kids Tickets will be available for purchase during the Ticket on-sale time. Kids 5 and under will be admitted for free to NYCC and no Ticket is required. Please read the full process about the NYCC Tickets for Kids.

Does filling out the Fan Verification profile mean I’m automatically Fan Verified?

For the most part, yes. Once you complete your Fan Verification profile, you’ll receive a confirmation email and you’re all set!

You’ll hear from us if your account has been cancelled or if we have questions about your profile.

When does Fan Verification open and how long is it open for?

Fan Verification will open on May 20 at 12:00 PM EDT and close on June 13 at 11:59 PM EDT.

Does Fan Verification guarantee NYCC 2016 Tickets?

No, it does not guarantee NYCC Tickets or that you will get the NYCC Ticket type that you want, but it does give the opportunity to buy Tickets as long as you fill out a Fan Verification profile by June 13. NYCC Tickets will still be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

If I fill out a Fan Verification profile immediately, do I have a better chance at buying NYCC Tickets?

No. We strongly recommend taking your time as you fill out your Fan Verification profile. If your profile is not complete, it will be cancelled. You have almost a full month to fill it out completely and correctly. Trying to fill out your Fan Verification profile like The Flash will not increase your chances of purchasing NYCC 2016 Tickets.

Should I create more than one Fan Verification profile?

Absolutely not. You can only fill out one Fan Verification profile per email address and each Fan can only have one profile.

Anyone who is identified as having multiple Fan Verification profiles or as a known reseller will have their Fan Verification voided and will not have the opportunity to purchase NYCC Tickets.

What if I want to buy a Ticket for my friend and they haven’t filled out a Fan Verification profile?

You can’t. That’s why it’s so important to make sure all your friends and family who want to go to the Show fill out their Fan Verification profile before the deadline!

I anticipate needing Medical Assistance onsite. Does my companion need a NYCC Badge and a Fan Verification profile?

Yes, please make sure anyone assisting you onsite fills out a Fan Verification profile. They must have a NYCC Badge in order to attend the Show with you and they can only get one through Fan Verification.

NYCC Tickets On-Sale

When are NYCC Tickets going on sale and how do I buy them?

If you filled out a Fan Verification profile, you will receive a unique link to purchase NYCC Tickets in your inbox approximately 48 hours before NYCC Tickets go on sale. Tickets will still be sold on a first-come, first-served basis at the on-sale time.

We will not be announcing the on-sale date prior to 48 hours before Tickets sales are live.

Once Fan Verification closes, continue to follow the NYCC channels for updates and be sure to check your inbox for more details.

What NYCC Ticket types are being sold this year?

4-Day, 3-Day, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Sunday Kids Tickets will be available this year.

NYCC will no longer sell VIP Tickets. In the spirit of having a more equitable experience for all Fans, we have removed NYCC VIP Tickets. All Fans will now have the same level of access to NYCC.

Are all NYCC 2016 Ticket types going on sale at the same time?

Yes! This is similar to last year.

How many NYCC Tickets can I buy?

Each Fan has the opportunity to purchase a maximum of four (4) Tickets per type and twelve (12) Tickets in total. Remember: Each Ticket must be tied to a person who filled out a Fan Verification profile and there is a limit of one Ticket per person per day.

Will NYCC Tickets be sold at retailers?

No, NYCC 2016 Tickets will only be sold online. NYCC Tickets will not be on sale at retailers or any events leading up to NYCC 2016. Fan Verification and purchasing Tickets online through the NYCC Ticket website is the only opportunity to buy NYCC Tickets.

Can I share my unique link with my friends who also want to buy Tickets?

Do not share your link with your friends — even if they’re your besties. There is a one transaction limit per link. Once the transaction using that link is complete, the link will expire.

Assigning NYCC Tickets to an Individual

How do I individually assign my friends and family to each Ticket I buy?

You must include the email address used in Fan Verification to assign each individual Ticket. Each person must be Fan Verified and there is a limit of one Ticket per person per day. If your friend or family member did not fill out a Fan Verification profile, you will not be able to purchase their Ticket.

For example, if Pierce is buying 3-Day Tickets for himself and Sophia, plus a Friday and Saturday Ticket for Drake, he must add the email that Sophia and Drake used when they filled out their Fan Verification profile and assign himself and Sophia to the 3-Day Tickets and Drake to the Friday and Saturday Tickets.

Since kids 6-12 don’t need to fill out a Fan Verification profile, how do I assign a kid to their Ticket(s)?

As you are filling out your Fan Verification profile, you will be asked if you would like the opportunity to buy Tickets for kids 6-12, whether you’re purchasing an Adult Ticket any days of NYCC or a Sunday Kids Ticket. (Kids Tickets for kids 6-12 are only available on Sunday. All other days of NYCC require a regular priced Adult Ticket for kids ages 6-12). When you have the opportunity to purchase Tickets at the on-sale time, it will be noted in your profile that you may be purchasing one or more of those Tickets for a kid ages 6-12. You will then be able to assign a kid to that Ticket by clicking the checkbox under the email field.

Any NYCC Tickets assigned to kids will only be valid for kids ages 6-12 at the time of NYCC. This will be noted in their NYCC Badge RFID chip as the kid taps in and out of NYCC. If a NYCC Badge assigned to a kid is used for anyone over the age of 12 at the time of NYCC, the wearer will be removed from NYCC without a refund and the wearer and buyer will be unable to purchase Tickets to any future NYCC or ReedPOP events. Be prepared to show proof of age onsite.

Kids ages 5 years old and younger do not need a Ticket and get into NYCC for free.

How long do I have to assign my friends and family to the Tickets I buy for them?

You have 14 days (14 actual days, not business days) to assign your friends and family to their Ticket.

What if there’s a typo in the name or email address I use when I assign my friends and family to their Ticket?

If during the check-out process there was a typo in the email address or name entered, you have 14 days (14 actual days, not business days) to correct the error after purchase.

Can I transfer my Ticket to someone else after I buy it and assign it to myself or a friend/family member?

No. NYCC Tickets are non-transferrable. They are also non-upgradeable, non-refundable and non-resellable. They are yours to have and to hold until the Show is over.

NYCC Presents and NYCC Badge Access

Does my NYCC Badge get me into Panels at the Hammerstein Ballroom again this year?

Yes! Your NYCC Badge gets you into all day time Panels at both the Hammerstein Ballroom and our new venue Hudson Mercantile during the day on a first-come, first-served basis. You must have a NYCC Badge valid for the day of the events. This does not include nighttime NYCC Presents events where a separate Ticket is required.

What’s NYCC Presents?

Moving into 2016, we will be rolling New York Super Week into our new series NYCC Presents, continuing our tradition of expanding New York Comic Con content throughout the City. NYCC Presents will include tons of great evening events at multiple venues throughout the City and Brooklyn. These events will require a separate Ticket.

Does my NYCC Badge get me into NYCC Presents events?

No, each NYCC Presents event requires a separately purchased Ticket.

i'm counting abt 3ish weeks--- but i've been known to have problems with Dates.... LOL.... do not rely on me

given teh 13 is a monday and they've promised 48 hrs notice, and they traditionally do sales during the week we can assume the earliest we're looking at for the actual sale is Wed the 15th

I'm thinking it will be the week after, once they shut it down then verify no duplicates.

I've counted 4 weeks and 3 days for the verification process  ;D

But yeah, I'm thinking that 6/15 is the earliest sale date, but we're more likely looking at a late June sale date for the week of 6/20. SDCC generally needs time to process all of the member IDs beforehand, so it'll probably be a similar system here (especially considering the fact that this is totally new for NYCC).

i'm not sure this will be the case-  while i'm sure there will be some who don't create a profile, I'm actually thinking this will up the 'frantic-ness' by the other attendee's.

Sorry, I stand corrected... you are right about 3 weeks. i was just thinking May to the end of June. Wasn't looking at the date of the 13th. 3 Weeks is rediculous, especially if people are not looking for it.

I don't see how it can be frantic. Clearly the die hard VIP's all seem less interested. Those people paid for VIP for a reason and now that reason is gone. It's not like there will be less regular badges, if anything there will be more. People might pretend to be frantic, but being you need a member ID now and you have 3 weeks to sign up, the tickets will take a long time to sell out.

I said it here first... mark my words. They will open up new member id's for new badge purchases sometime after the original badge sale because they will have realized they did not notify people properly (or given them enough time) and there will be a lot of unsold badges...

I get that it was turning into San Diego Comic Con for a couple of years now but this is straight up copying them. :)

So what's the real reason for eleminating VIP, I don't buy the fairness angle much especially since they were profitable.

The sale can't be June 15.  They send the notification email to the one registered in your fan verification.  Fan verification is open until 11:59 on June 13.  If it was June 15, they couldn't give 48 hours notice to the people who signed up for a verification at the last minute.

Given ReedPop likes Wednesdays, I'm thinking June 22.  When I won't have computer access.

I found this quote from Lance Fensterman interesting.

Quote
Of the end of VIP tickets, Fensterman says “We felt it was a bit incongruent with our belief of putting fans first, and also it was hard to put together a high level personal experience at an event of the scale of NYCC, so it was the right time  to return those tickets to the pool.” Less than a thousand VIP tickets have been sold in recent years, so it wasn’t a huge program to begin with.

Looks like ReedPop wants to spread out the impact of NYCC on the Manhattan landscape. While this can accommodate more fans, it may lessen the feel of a convention, where most things take place in a central location. I grew up in NYC, and for me, Brooklyn is a bit far away to still maintain the feel of being at a convention where the main events happen in 'the city'.

But then it is a for-profit event.  I have mixed feelings about this.

I'm sick that there are no vip tickets.
I'll still go this year but the VIP access was the one thing that put nycc at the top of my list, as far as comic con's go.
I think we should rent a booth if available just so we can store our bags and get in early.

Having things too spread out also lessens the spontaneous decisions--like  hearing about something and then having the time to go across town and then back to your hotel.  Maybe if they had themes for different areas that are outside of the main...something like Brooklyn is Post Apocalypse Town...

Just read this about panels on New York Comic Con's Facebook page

... We always have a bag check for Fans to use. We will have places for Fans to sit and lounge during the show. We will have a process for panels that we will announce closer the show. Thank you.

waiting for the other shoe to drop and have them say press/pros have to go through the regular line as well.

I think they pretty much have:

As with all ReedPOP events, NYCC is a “Fans First” event and approval to receive a Press Badge is not guaranteed. We must maintain a high standard of excellence when we award Press Badges so please understand that:

Your Press Badge allows access as long as space is permitting.
Your Press Badge does not allow early access, special access or guaranteed seating.
Your Press Badge does not allow you to cut lines.
Your Press Badge will not allow access into any events requiring an additional ticket.

http://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/Tickets/Press-and-Pro-Overview/

Looks like pro might still be able to cut the lines though.

no vip? i always found a way to get a ultimate access badge each year.

not worth going to nycc without one for me. so dragoncon instead.

if i had a big ip to tout, renting out the whole former vip area might be a thing.

p.s. looking to see if i can modify someone else's booth with a two stage booth. a.k.a. a second floor. prices seem to vary greatly. then the second story would still let me have a "unfair" private area to lord over the masses. because if i am to go this far, then i must defeat the idea of fairness, lol. i saw the area for regular passes to sit down. it was..... not acceptable to me.

I'm sad there are no VIP badges too.

Yes, the buying group will be structured a bit differently to accommodate NYCC's changes for this year! [member=2339]NCDS[/member] and I are working on the details but once the link for the verification profiles open and the badge prices are listed, we will be able to go through it more thoroughly to determine exactly what else needs to be adjusted  :)

This company is the worst.

Those who have supported the con for so long are being penalized because they were being too lazy to do the obvious years ago.

How so? I don't understand the logic here. If you are talking RE UA/SA, VIP and normal badge holders hold the same amount of loyalty. One just pays more than the other (some have been going the same amount of years etc)

now that I am home and have the opportunity to fully post I will

its interesting, this will be my 8th show, started as a reg holder upgraded to VIP based on 2011s show and now do press along with holding a badge.

To be clear up front, I am upset they got rid of the VIP program. I'm not going to say no.

I will say though last year was one of the few years I felt the VIP badge was not worth it. aside from getting onto the floor first and the lounge (which I admit was a help) I'm not sure I felt my badge was worth it. they let the vips into the building later than the regular pass holders, funko tickets were on the regular line, and at least 4 of the 20 panels in the main stage left a lot to be wanting considering 2 were cancelled and programming was not put back in and 2 panels were so empty they did not warrant being on the main stage.

Do I want VIP yes but that is their decision and I don't think they'll be changing it. The thing that upsets me most is this 'fariness' quote since there are still VIP programs for ECCC, C2E2, SWCL, SWCO, Star Trek Missions, BookCon, etc. Until they can say something other than well we are quirky and different shows can be different or the like I feel like they are withholding info

Total agree. They took away that extra that SDCC didn't have.

They had every opportunity in the world to make changes for the upcoming con year and decided to do nothing until it escalated to what happen last year.

So, like I said earlier, they are penalizing those that supported them to try to make up for their faults that they are now trying to fix.

Last year was the first year I myself had a VIP pass, the previous years I've had a Pro pass and my friend has had a VIP pass or I did the regular line.  I'm annoyed they got rid of VIP now that this con has gotten so huge since it was a big help to get the limited edition items.  I don't know how much extra work it was for them to do the VIP thing since it seemed like they barely put any effort into in the first place, that fairness bit seems like more PR than anything.

I hope this new system will cut down on the scalping since it has gotten so nuts.

as much as i want to believe this would not be the case, I'm certain that it will be exactly like that.

Yes, but it says you are not guaranteed that.

I did, but I am not sure if it is just a survey for them to get an idea or if we can choose other ticket options when the actual ticket sale is happening?

Don't see how they could lock you into it, worse case, just select 12.  I selected 4 3-day's even though I'm only going to need 2.

Maybe it's because you already had a Showclix account? I assumed they only emailed me with a temporary password b/c I didn't have a password at all before.

Your New York Comic Con 2016 Fan Verification is complete!

You are now Fan Verified and will have the opportunity to purchase NYCC 2016 Tickets when they go on sale. You will only hear from us if your Fan Verification profile is cancelled or if we have questions about your Fan Verification profile.

Please note: Fan Verification provides you the opportunity to buy Tickets, but does not guarantee NYCC Tickets or the Ticket type that you desire. NYCC Tickets will still be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Prior to NYCC Tickets going on sale, you will receive a unique link to purchase NYCC Tickets in your inbox. Make sure you add [email protected] to your contacts and mark it as “safe” so emails from us don’t filter into your spam or junk folders. The unique link will arrive in your inbox approximately 48 hours before NYCC Tickets go on sale. We will not be announcing the on-sale date prior to 48 hours before Tickets sales are live so continue to monitor your inbox and follow the NYCC social channels for updates.

Now that you’re Fan Verified, make sure to gather your friends, family, neighbors, dogs and cats (just kidding on those last two) who also want to attend NYCC 2016 and tell them to fill out their Fan Verification profile before the deadline on June 13 at 11:59 PM EDT.

If you have any questions please reach out to our team via email [email protected].

Thank you,

NYCC Team

Submitted my fan verification and got an E-mail right away.  I support this but it still sucks they did away with VIP tickets.

So I'm guessing the NYCC ticket sale will take place at roughly the same time SDCC starts mailing out our badges (mid June).

I wondered whether this would be a permanent Fan Verification ID that we could use from now on, but it seems that is not so.  The Showclix area, once I signed in, seems to be a 'one show' deal.  I have never used Showclix so I definitely could be wrong.

Also, after submitting, the Showclix account allows you to edit all the info on your application.  You have until the end date to edit.  I don't doubt after that date your choices may be referenced in for the sale.  The Faqs did say, for example, for the Sunday kids tickets

Quote
When you have the opportunity to purchase Tickets at the on-sale time, it will be noted in your profile that you may be purchasing one or more of those Tickets for a kid ages 6-12. You will then be able to assign a kid to that Ticket by clicking the checkbox under the email field.

the profile will be referenced during the sale.

More info and what you will need to add for the Sunday Kids tickets, from the application page

Did the verification registration thing. I like that they require you to get a code sent to your phone to be able to register. That should stop most of the duplicate accounts people create to get more/better chances to buy tickets. I know people make up duplicate/fake accounts for SDCC. All you really need to register for a SDCC account is an email address and you can easily make up as many gmail accounts as you want. At least with having to get a code by text it makes it a lot harder to make up duplicate accounts.
I'm still not happy they got rid of VIP tickets. Especially since they claim it is to make it a fair and better experience for all the fans, yet every other convention they run still offers VIP tickets. I guess they don't care about making a fair and better fan experience for those other conventions.

I would be happy with a VIP ticket with just the lounge and separate line to enter the exhibit hall in the morning, that's all I need.
It still doesn't make sense to me that they got rid of the VIP option to make it fair?
They have to then do the same at all their various conventions to keep it fair.
The VIP ticket option was the one thing for me that made nycc better than sdcc.

Getting rid of VIP makes NYCC way more fair.  Sure they have VIP at their other cons....but at a show like C2E2 it is completely unnecessary.
You get onto the floor at the same time as everyone else, you just get to skip the line, so maybe 10 minutes saved in the morning?
I have never seen a panel capped and every panel I have been in they have let regular attendees sit in VIP just so the seats weren't empty.

At NYCC this is far from the case as WAY more people show up, so get rid of the VIP and give everyone an equal shot.
Title: Re: NYCC 2016 Tickets

so in a situation where a VIP is not needed it is OK to have that type of badge but when the VIP would actually benefit the people spending the extra money for it then they shouldn't do it.

You get onto the floor at the same time as everyone else, you just get to skip the line, so maybe 10 minutes saved in the morning?
The NYCC VIP was the same, skip the line and once they let the VIPs in they let the regular pass holders in right after

I have never seen a panel capped and every panel I have been in they have let regular attendees sit in VIP just so the seats weren't empty.
While panels are capped at nycc there are no designated VIP seats either
Title: Re: NYCC 2016 Tickets

I think getting rid of the VIP levels the playing field for all fans, not just the rich ones at NYCC.  At C2E2 the field is already even, just some fans have too much money and are getting almost no benifit from it.  At NYCC if you get onto the floor first you can get to all those in demand exclusives before the line is capped / sold out.  At C2E2 in recent years there have not been any exclusives that have demanded such craze to get to.

In all walks of life wether it's travel, theater, concerts, sporting events, even theme parks, there is always an option to pay more money to get a VIP experience. You could say it's not fair that someone has a flat bed in first class traveling on Virgin Atlantic from Las Vegas to London while we sit in Economy.
But that's just the way it is, it's a business and people want to pay more for a better seat or experience.

I just don't get the it's not fair thing.
Title: Re: NYCC 2016 Tickets

What your not realizing is that the people who buy VIP badges aren't millionaires.  They're just people who are willing to spend
More for the betterment of heir NYCC experience

I can guarantee you that with no VIP tickets, the chances of grabbing those exclusives will not increase.  In fact it will probably decrease since those people who spent money clearly are the ones that seem more invested in trying to grab these items.

[member=2541]Godolphin[/member] so for everything there is a VIP / pay more get more? How about SDCC?  Just because something exists in lots of venues doesn't mean its fair.  NYCC is just trying to balance the field some.  It's ok thought, the world will go on!

[member=2235]mzx380[/member] Or those people who had spent more money before will just use that money to buy the exclusives on the secondary market instead, it's impossible to tell now.

There is a big difference between SDCC and all other events or travel situations, SDCC is a non profit organization not a business like the others.

Actually I think nearly every comic con or similar events have a VIP option.
All the Amazing comic cons, all the Wizard World comic cons, all the Creation events, D23 etc
Until now only SDCC the sole non profit organization didn't offer a VIP option, which in that case makes sense.
NYCC does not make sense, in terms of fairness.

Ask the people that wait in line for hours and then get pushed back behind VIPs that walk right up what is more fair.  Are you a bigger fan just because you have more money to spend?
Most likely not.  I can't imagine a single person who doesn't normally buy VIPs are complaining that this isn't fair.....

DragonCon does not do VIP.

They sort of do. They offer what they call an eternal membership. You get lifetime admission to the con, a special VIP line to pick up your badge each year which is a supposed to be a lot shorter line, first shot at all the free items that they give out each year, admission to a special meet and greet party the night before the convention begins and a few other things.

Yeah, but it doesn't give you special access to panels, photo ops, or autographs.

But it still gives people who are willing to pay more special features that regular ticket holders don't get.
I've been to other cons where the only perk of a VIP ticket was a separate line to get into the con. At some of these cons that itself is a huge thing since sometimes the line to get into the con can be huge and take forever.
Title: Re: NYCC 2016 Tickets

I think we should move on from this topic.

There are arguments that can be made on both sides of the debate, however RP has decided to get rid of this ticket option. Does it upset me, yes, I am on the side of they should have kept it. I think we have all had our chances to state our opinions but it is time to move on.

Yes SDCC does not have a vip but the argument can be made that they sell a portion of their tickets to the previous years attendees, one could argue where the fairness in that is. I think we could go back and forth over and over. I personally recommend regardless of which side of the argument you land on to email Lance or your other RP contact and express your feelings. Will it do anything, who knows. I will say privately I've talked with other attendees on the matter and I had a feeling the days of VIPs were numbered though I thought it was going to be in like another 3-4 years.

The only point I am going to make is that to say only rich people got the VIPs is not true. I was lucky enough to get the VIP pass the last few years and I can assure you I am not rich nor are a bunch of the people I knew who got VIP passes. I save my money, I won't go to the clubs or bars, I call in a birthday gift and I use the savings of not spending to get my tickets. So it is not just a rich person ticket.

In either case I think it is time to move on and come together as a forum.

they so do. but not through dragoncon. it's also a bit secret, in that the pass is like a business card sized "invitation". so when "commoners" ask what was that, that is how you respond. dragoncon is "powerless" to defy things offsite/nearby . at least at nycc anybody could net one. the backlash against "the rich", from online sites for vip tickets was quite real. lessons learned for other conventions. hide it. i do miss throwing a vip pass in people's faces though. that is denied me. i could only do that at nycc.

dragoncon. i goto where the unfairness is strongest. lol.

Does anybody possibly think that they may throw it in there as a surprise so that the speculation of VIP is truly gone? Giving a true curveball and unexpected sale of some time of new "VIP"? Most likely not but that could be something they may try out to level the competition of removing the VIP passes. Just a hopeful thought.

This was the response I got from Lance after I emailed him saying I was dissapointed that they cancelled the VIP options.

"I totally understand your disappointment Jason, I too agree with you and would prefer that kind of ticket.  It was becoming increasingly difficult for us to meet the expectations of the ticket holders though and it seemed like the right and fair choice to make.

Again, sorry for how it effects your experience at the show.

It is a formed response. I emailed Lance last year about them getting rid of the presale and got the same response as a friend that asked a similar question, we even got the same error in the message.

I know he 'gets lots of these emails' but there was a point where when I emailed him in previous years I actually did get a personalized response.

I just find that statement of it being 'difficult for us to meet the expectations of the ticket holders' as just not ringing true

First time trying to go for NYCC tickets normally go to SDCC. To anyone that goes to both is the process similar? Is luck a huge factor or are there plenty of tickets to go around? Just want to make sure I do not get my hope up if they are extremely difficult.

they can be difficult
we don't quite know how it's going to play out this year with the discontinuation of the VIP options. iirc, the 4 day tix seemed to go kinda fast last year. there is a forum buying group, contact [member=2339]NCDS[/member] .  Plus they just put in place a member id system, go regester now!http://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/Tickets/NYCC-Ticket-Process-and-Show-News/

this is most likely going to be the forumat-- note this is from SW celebration

So-when you fill out how many tickets you are interested in buying, does that matter? Should I put the max, or does it not impact anything later on? I am mainly signing up just in case, I don't really have plans to attend at this point.

I don't think that's something they can really hold you to -- since they haven't announced the onsale date yet, someone might find themselves needing to buy for someone else who can't go online when the tickets go on sale.

As of now it seems like they are not requiring you to assign the tickets at time of sale but somewhere within 14 days of purchase you will have to assign the ticket to someone

otherwise why say you have 14 days

So I guess they will be refunding tickets.

What I wonder is how many people signed up for the fan verification and if they will open up the fan verification again. Say they only got 70,000 signups then no one has to worry everyone is going to the show. Heck even if they got 110,000 signups and then even add another 30,000 for exhibitors, artists, press, pro, guests, etc. they would still need another ~20-25,000 attendees to beat last year’s attendance, so everyone should still be able to get a ticket.

Especially, now since there is no VIPs.
I do wonder if they will consolidate if you don't get a 4-Day, but you do get 4 single days.

I think Fan verification is open again?  I tried the link and it goes to the "send code" page.  Got code sent to phone and goes to fill out a FV form (already have one). Unless somehow the form isn't submitting. I didn't get to the code page this morning.

it does seem to be open, soft re-open? or extension?

They've been on FB all day saying it's closed and telling people tough so this should be interesting if it has been reopened

Though to be 100% honest I always assumed this was always going to re-open. no company would allow unsold tickets to go unsold, knowing they can sell them.

Seems as though they were having some technical issues approaching the deadline last night, so this could be a result.  Or they don't have the numbers they want yet.

Well, well, well....we will see how far this goes.  I would really like to know how many have become fan verified.  NYCC has not said there were any glitches in the process so, I agree with others...the numbers must not be where they want them to be yet.

Don't feel bad at all.  They have been strongly encouraging everyone who might even think they might possibly, by any stretch of their imagination want to buy a ticket to NYCC--to fan verify.    I have told everyone I know who might want to go to at least fill it out.  I know some of them won't go, but just in case....

Whether it's true or not, it's interesting that Reedpop is even acknowledging the notion that it's due to lack of fan verification.

Title: Re: NYCC 2016 Tickets
Post by: mllNY on June 15, 2016, 05:45:13 AM
They would never admit that it was due to a lack of signups, I read that as whiners whined and we caved. I hate to say it but I think this goes a bit to the 'entitlement/fairness' thing going around. Like everyone is a winner, no losing teams in little league, can't voice an opinion any longer. Oh you missed the deadline, complain so then a company backs off and re-opens. Fans had a month to sign up, it was not a hard signup, or too time consuming, but they didn't. Where is their owning up to the fact that they did not follow the rules and therefore missed out and accepting of that.

Which brings me to my point their official statement as you posted above is that because of numerous requests to open up fan verification because fans missed the deadline, then can enough numerous fans complain about the lack of VIP tickets and let them change their mind. They seem to give in to the demands of those people lets get the VIP tickets back. I accepted they got rid of them, but if all it takes is enough complaining in one shot that the issue needs to be re-addressed, well heck [member=1]alyssa[/member] can attest I am a master arguer

It is a little bit of a moot point though cause RP was always going to reopen that fan verification at a later date.

[update 1:20 PM] waiting for 2:01 to come around to see who starts complaining that they missed the deadline

It took me a worrying amount of time to confirm that we need the list of e-mails the four of us used to verify (I'm very tired and it's almost 6am. I've barely slept the last few days.) Of course, I've been trying to sleep all night but have finally given up seeing as if I do fall asleep at this point, I'll feel worse on waking and sleeping though my alarms becomes a true problem.

I'm probably just going to go into the office a bit late today though for the sale and stay later to catch up, seeing at the sale starts right at the time I'd arrive. I could do it in my office, but 9am is prime time to bug people about their cases and upcoming pleadings and I prefer the speed of my laptop.

Edit: Wow, I am so tired I thought it was Wednesday? My days are just melding together.

Yeah, my friend just told me that too because I was texting her. I'm so tired I don't even know what day it is and work has been insane. Well, I have to be up in an hour still anyway so there was no way I was sleeping today regardless.

This just made me realize too that I don't have to be at the court for a hearing in like an hour now. Okay. Well, my whole day is looking slightly better. Dear god sleep, please come to me.

How will we coordinate this?

Through Google Hangouts?

Or something else?

Turns out that I wont' be able to be at my desk during purchase time.  If anyone has the chance and can purchase an additional 4-day that would be great.
Thanks

Welcome to the Virtual Queue

Welcome to the virtual queue! Because tickets are in such high demand, we?ve created this queue to make sure your ticket buying experience is as painless as possible. Once it?s your turn, you will automatically be brought to the new ticketing system to purchase your tickets. Remember, there?s a limited time frame available once you?ve made it to the front, so be sure to have your credit card info handy. And whatever you do, don?t hit refresh while you?re waiting!

Get ready ? this page will automatically take you to the ticketing system when it?s your turn to purchase tickets!

How does this queue thing work?

We use the queue to make sure that tickets are sold in an orderly and fair way. Customers enter the queue in the order in which they arrive after the on sale begins. When you are placed in the queue, a unique cookie identifies you and allows us to hold your place in line.

As long as your browser is open, you will not lose your place and you will be automatically taken to the checkout process when it is your turn, without needing to refresh.

What if I get an error page?

Getting an error page will not result in you losing your place in the queue or tickets in your cart.

The queue is made of many, many servers. In the unlikely event that you get an error page, it is possible that you landed on a misbehaving server or group of servers. This is why we painstakingly monitor for misbehaving servers and take them out on the fly.

If you encounter an error, just refresh once or twice. There is a good chance you'll be returned onto a behaving server. If the error persists, please do not continue to refresh repeatedly ? you'll risk getting throttled or blocked.

What happens if I refresh?

The queue page will automatically take you into the checkout when it is your turn, so you should not need to refresh. Refreshing does not improve your odds of getting through the queue.

If you do refresh, you will keep your place in line. That said, our load balancers will automatically throttle and even block users that it deems malicious, so don't go overboard spamming your Refresh button.

What are the technical requirements for the queue?

To properly maintain your place in the queue, your browser must support cookies and javascript.

All current major browsers support these features by default, so unless you explicitly turned the features off, you'll be fine. The queue page will let you know in advance if we detect that your browser is incompatible.

No idea, their twitter said they didn't have estimates.

I'm technically supposed to be at the office but I just told them something came up and I'd be late. Of course now I'm having to tell them it may take a bit longer than I had anticipated. I should have just done this at the office.

I opened the link in Chrome Incognito window since I have Ghostery and Ublock running on my normal window.  I guess I don't notice it refreshing. IDK.

Edit: Funny enough, scrolling wheels showed up after I shrunk the window so I can work and wait.

I got in after about 23-25 minutes. After checking out, I also got the 404 page and nearly had a heart attack, but I got the email receipt just fine. Stay strong, everyone.

Here's what the receipt says:

Geronimo! You have your Tickets for New York Comic Con 2016, but YOU?RE NOT DONE YET. You MUST assign each Ticket to an individual person who filled out a Fan Verification profile starting Thursday, June 30 at 12:00 PM EDT. This must be completed by July 14 at 11:59 PM EDT or your Tickets will be removed from your order and you?ll be refunded.

How do you do this? Just follow these easy steps below:

    1. Go to: http://www.showclix.com/my-tickets/login

    2. Enter the email address used on your purchase, along with your ShowClix password.

        - If you do not know your password, hit ?Forget your password? to reset it via email.

    3. Locate your New York Comic Con 2016 order.

    4. Scroll to the Question/Answer section.

    5. Provide the name and email address of yourself and your Fan Verified friend or family members for each Ticket.
        - Remember, you cannot assign the same person to Tickets valid for the same day.
        - Each person MUST have a Fan Verification profile. If they don?t have one, the Ticket will be cancelled on July 14 at 11:59 PM EDT and you?ll receive a full refund for it.

    6. The Tickets will be pre-filled with the name on the order. Please click the name listed to replace this with the name of the person each Ticket should be assigned to and then click Submit.

     7. Next, click whether the Ticket is for an Adult or a Kid and click Submit.

        - Note that the page will reload after you hit submit. Once it?s done reloading, it will bring you back to your order to continue completing this process.

    8. Finally, add the email used in their Fan Verification profile under that Ticket. (If the Ticket is being used for a Kid 6-12, then you will not need to add the email address.) Click Submit.

        - Again, the page may reload after you hit submit. If it does, once it?s done reloading, it will bring you back to your order.

    9. Repeat Steps 6-8 until all Tickets in your order have been assigned.

    10. Get excited because you?re going to NYCC 2016!

Please remember NYCC Tickets are in extremely high demand and there is a large volume of people online to purchase NYCC Tickets right now. Here's a quick status update to keep you in the loop about which NYCC Ticket types are still available and which are almost sold out as you wait your turn to purchase them so you can plan ahead: 4-Day Tickets are sold out, 3-Day Tickets are sold out, and Saturday Tickets are 75% sold out, but the remaining Tickets are being held. If you get to the checkout process and it says this Ticket type is completely sold out, that means the remaining Tickets are in the process of being purchased. When these purchases are completed, we will update the status to be 100% sold out.

I didn't plan on going, but for kicks and giggles, I used my fan link and waited for a little over two hours only to learn that individual Saturday passes were sold out. I selected Fri, Sat and Sun, then hit "get tickets" but got a notification saying Sat was sold out.

I think it's kind of wrong to punish people for having tough luck and then charge them more for individual passes.

Ah well...

Well, that was an interesting experience.  I also clicked exactly at noon and didn't get past the waiting screen until and hour and fifteen minutes had passed.   By then, of course the 3 and 4 day passes had faded away....and my eyes had long since lost their ability to focus, anyway.

A small ray of hope... I have seen quite a few posts on the NYCC Facebook page where people were buying extra tickets, even when their friends had not been 'fan verified'.  Maybe there will be another sale.  Or, maybe it was just not my year for NYCC.   :(

Happiness for everyone who did get the tickets they wanted!!

I grabbed four four day passes for me and some friends,  really only wanted 3's but for an extra 50 I got two extra days so I figured why not.  I figured four days would be gone first, weird.

For NYCC 3-days usually sell out faster because a lot of people are local and can't or don't want to take Thursday off from work.

Everything on the swap board was locked (and from last year), so I'm going to post this here (but feel free to move it, obviously).

I have one single 4-day for sale at cost, if anyone wants it and is pre-registered. PM me.

I bought it for a coworker who was eventually able to get her own. I'm a little paranoid that if I leave it unregistered they'll cancel the whole order and not just the one.

Gone, sorry!

Also, Friday, Sat, Sun are more popular than Thursday. And if you do the math, 3-day pass is still more bang for the buck than the 4-day

i agree, it seems unlikely but looked at from a business standpoint- it's a lot cheaper to send out 1 rfid tix then 4 single days. there maybe things we don't know about however

No idea - i guess if people here need them and are verified, I can give them away. But I'm hoping that me and everyone else b***hes about it over the 14 days and they reopen fan registration :/

I feel like I remember reading that they actually extended Fan Verification once or twice to give people more time to register, and seeing as they sent out a fair few reminder e-mails saying everyone had to do a Fan Verification to get a badge... I'd say it's unlikely they'll reopen Fan Verification for this sale at this point.

I checked out NYCC's Twitter feed and there are so many people that have extra tickets and want to give to their family and friends but can't because none of them are fan verified.  Many have asked if NYCC will do fan verification again and they're being told no.  This shows how important fan verification is.  There are also quite a few who claim to have done the fan verification procedures but also say they never received the E-mail with the link notifying them about the ticket sale and didn't know about the sale until it was too late.

It's called reading and doing your due diligence.
Which a lot of people didn't do and now their mistake they want to blame and whine to RP. It was stated ALL that want to attend, family, friend, dog, cat, etc. needs to be FV. And if they did and didn't receive an email yet, what's the harm in contacting RP and tell them that you did and but didn't receive a confirmation email.

I think after the 14th a lot of the scalpers tickets will be canceled cause they will not be able to assign the tickets. They will then be left with some amount of leftover tickets. Wouldn't surprise me if they open up fan verification again.

Why should they open it up again. Just release the tickets so other have a chance that did the FV.

3 weeks and a day is enough time to do the FV. Those that didn't read the entire page, the onus is on them.

They shouldn't, unless they're also going to include a $75 check with the badge.  I'd be very upset if, having paid $190 for a set of single day tickets, I received a $115 4-day that I couldn't buy because when I got to the front of the queue I was told they were sold out.

Looks like they are re-opening fan registration on Monday!!:

"Dear NYCC Fans,

We have heard your feedback about the NYCC Fan Verification system and recognize new processes are hard. In an effort to give everyone a second crack at nailing this Fan Verification system, we are going to reopen Fan Verification so that Fans who did not go through the first round of Verifications can be added to existing orders. Fan Verification will reopen on Monday, July 11 at 9:00 AM EDT.

In order to be attached to an existing order, you must fill out a Fan Verification application by Tuesday, July 12 at 12:00 (noon) PM EDT. Fans that Verify after this date and time will not have the opportunity to be added to existing orders, but will have the opportunity to purchase reclaimed and cancelled Single Day Tickets at a later date.

Valid Fan Verification profiles can then be attached to existing NYCC Ticket orders between Wednesday, July 13 at 12:00 PM (noon) EDT and Thursday, July 14 at 11:59 PM EDT. After Thursday, July 14 at 11:59 PM EDT, any Tickets that do not have a Fan Verification profile attached will be cancelled and refunded. There will be absolutely no exceptions after this deadline.

As another reminder:  Every person (over the age of 13 years old) that wants to buy a Ticket for NYCC or have a NYCC purchased for them MUST have a Fan Verification profile created, using a unique email address. Each NYCC Ticket requires a valid Fan Verification profile attached to it, otherwise it will be cancelled and refunded.

Reclaimed and cancelled Single Day Tickets will go on sale at a later date. Anyone that has gone through the Fan Verification process at any point will have the opportunity to buy these Tickets.

I really don't understand what the point of the fan verification is if they are going to just re-open it. They gave plenty of notice about what it was all about before they closed it the first time. It's really not right to re-open it at this point. Some people did not buy tickets when they had the opportunity because they were not fan verified and were told it was not going to re-open.

It was not written by them anywhere if that's what your asking, but it was always going to reopen

A for profit company is not going to let tickets sit on the table unsold. "Well we could have sold more tickets, we were not at capacity, but fan verification was closed. So we won't"

And they already extended the FV once to accommodate the late comers so this is to accommodate the fans who thought their friend/SO/Dog etc had verified but didn't

New processes are hard. Reading is hard. Life is hard. *sigh*

I have my ticket, so this shouldn't bug me as much as it does, but I think they should have released the tickets that couldn't be attached to verified fans, given the verified people another go and THEN reopened up fan verification, if necessary.

So this really makes me questions the process of the fan verification; if they're going to re-open for 1 day, how can they really identified anyone who's a scalper in 1 day from the fan verification?

If it took them almost half a month to go through the legitimacy of that account, how will 1 day will be enough this time around?

Seems to me they didn't see this flaw coming from the first fan verification and ticket purchase.

It's a new process
There have been several hinge instituted by RP in order to get things right but have been abandoned.  If this is the new order going forward, fans will have then acclimated but then again so will scalpers
Nothing is perfect

The process is very flawed. If they wanted to identify the scalpers, they could find out after the assignment deadline. If someone bought a high amount of tickets, but majority of them went back into the wild (wasn't assigned before deadline), then you can probably tell that individual did not plan on  allocating those tickets for his friends.

Of course, in order for that scalper screening process to work, verified fans with no tickets have to stay vigilant and not purchase from scalpers.

But at the same time this also opens a flood gate for scalpers to create their own fan verifications. Unless NYCC is really enforcing the ID check, opening the fan verification at this time really defeats the purpose of countering these scalpers.

I didn't know the 1 day reopening was to identify scalpers. I was speaking about the fan verification as a whole. If NYCC did it right, they could've identified some scalpers. Too bad scalpers adapt fast, so NYCC missed their one shot

Even for profit cons have registration growing pains similar to Comic-Con's growing pains of 2010-12....

Following widespread complaints, NYCC to REOPEN Fan Verification

Quote

This afternoon, ReedPOP, the company that organizes conventions such as New York Comic Con, sent an email to fans announcing the reopening of their Fan Verification system. The move follow widespread complaints that the system left families unable to bring children, friends unable to buy tickets for unverified friends, and other cruel separations.

ReedPOP will reopen the Fan Verification system next Monday, July 11th, at 9:00 AM EDT.  In order to attach a new Fan profile to an existing NYCC ticket order, the profile application must be submitted by Tuesday, July 12th at 12:00 PM EDT.  This is likely because all tickets that were purchased during the first round of NYCC ticket sales must be attached to a verified fan account within two weeks of purchase.

People who are approved in this cycle of Fan Verification applicants can be added to an existing ticket order between 12PM EDT July 13th and 11:59PM EDT July 14th.  Any ticket that is not associated with a profile at that time will be cancelled and refunded. No one will be able to create a Fan Verification Profile after this point.

Tickets that are reclaimed by ReedPOP due to a lack of associated fan account will be resold at an unannounced date.  Anyone with a fan account will be able to purchase unclaimed tickets at this time.

The Fan Verification platform launched this year and was originally designed to curb rampant scalping of New York Comic Con tickets.  Back in May, ReedPOP announced that any fan who wished to attend the convention would have to create a Fan Profile on their site before NYCC ticket sales went live at the end of June.  Unfortunately, not all fans got the message before Fan Verification closed, leaving many ticket purchasers distraught about the fact that their unverified friends would not be able to attend NYCC with them.

Worse yet, without a method to cancel unclaimed tickets besides waiting out the two week period where fans would have to assign all tickets to profiled users, many fans felt like they were shorted cash unless they…well…turned to scalping.  The effectiveness of the system itself has been hotly debated, as it seems like Fan Verification is less a wall and more a hill to scale for scalpers.

I wish they would have some sort of way to turn in 4 single day passes to get a 4 day (or 3 single days to get a 3 day).  I got in too late and I had to buy single days.  I'd imagine that some multi days got returned to the pool so I wonder where they are going with those.  Maybe they just reallocated them to extra single day tickets.

Just realized that fan verification never closed from the last round of opening.  It's STILL open and tickets are on sale now.  If I'm reading into this right, isn't the whole "we're stopping scalpers" argument for naught if scalpers can buy tickets right now and assign them in the next few days?  Ridiculous...

☹️ Missed it again. The first time around, they messed up my & my husband's accounts, correcting it after most tickets were sold out.  This time around, I starting feel sick preview nite of SDCC.  Got worse As it went on, meds keep knocking me out.   Didn't hear my alarm or phone.  Had hoped to go sick I was feeling to yucky to try for any panels this year.  Next year will be better.

Is it still open? I thought it was supposed to have closed in June. I didn't even start looking into NYCC until a couple of days ago and thought I was out of luck. I see that Thursday tickets are still available but when I click on the link to see if I can buy, it puts up a page talking about fan verification and how it ended in June.

Haha, yeah I found out when I was randomly clicking around and discovered Thursday tickets were being sold without fan verification. Sales must have gone really badly for them. They are announcing so many Thursday guests and trying hard to push out those last few tickets.

It seems like you don't have to be fan verified to register your badge.
You had to be fan verified to buy tickets but once you have them you can register them to anyone.
Strange.

There is no name on the badge anyway, so what does it matter.  i think too many people are way too worried about badges and who they go to, scalping, swapping...  it goes on and on. There is always a way around it. There is no perfect system.   Oh Well... lol

Did you respond to it?

I may have a possible extra ticket for Saturday. A friend of mine is not sure if he will still be able to attend Saturday and I have his ticket. I will know 100% in the morning before leaving to drive up to New York about 5 a.m. if his ticket will not be used by him. If anybody is interested please message me and I can let you know first thing in the morning. Will sell for face value.
