Proud to say I know a movie director! lol!
Stop it! You guys are making me blush!
I am happy to announce that my short documentary "Dogs to the Rescue" will be shown at the 2018 Berlin (Germany) Short Film Festival. The festival will take place June 28-July 1, 2018. The movie will be shown at The Babylon, a movie theater in the Mitte section of Berlin. I'm going to look into what I'll be responsible for if I am to make a trip to Berlin. In the meantime, I'll have a good copy of my film sent out to them. I'll also notify my crew about it as well.Link to the Berlin Short Film Festival:You are not allowed to view links. How cool is that! When can the rest of us see it?
I don't know if anybody is up for this. If any of us are staying in hotel rooms that has a Blu-ray DVD player, maybe some of us can gather to watch the film there. It's only 19 minutes long. I know some hotel rooms in the past had DVD players, but I haven't stayed in a hotel in ages as they are too expensive for me and when I last checked, hotel rooms usually had some sort of closed-circuit cable system where people can order movies (and porn as well).I also submitted my film to some SoCal-based film festivals, but getting a specific festival to play my movie is a challenge as film festivals are very competitive. Typically a film festival will have 20 available slots and they usually receive over 200 submissions. One festival in Big Bear Lake played my film last September. A couple of weeks ago, I had a private showing of it with friends in Los Angeles.
Is the film being sold or streamed from somewhere?
Last February of this year, I began principal photography of my short documentary on training dogs to be therapy pets and since late May (Memorial Day weekend to be exact), I had been editing it and it was finally completed as of July 9. I called the movie "Dogs to the Rescue" and it is a 19-minute film about a clinic that trains dogs to be therapy pets and they are shown how they bring unconditional love and happiness to residents of an assisted living facility in Southern California.I made a website promoting the movie: You are not allowed to view links. I submitted the film to seven film festivals (3 in Southern California, 1 in Michigan, 1 in Missouri, 1 in England and 1 in Australia). Ten years ago, I submitted two student live-action shorts to several film festivals, but not a single one accepted either one. I am aware that competition is fierce, just like last year when I ran to be a delegate at one of the two political major party conventions. I can't predict that things will be different this time, except that unlike ten years ago, I now have a presence on IMDb.com (in fact, my film is already listed on that site) and it is I think more professionally made than my two student live-action shorts from ten years ago. I'm still debating if I should make a press kit.EDIT 7/31/17, 2:47pm PDT: OK, I did my best to fix the audio issues in the trailer, hope it sounds a little better.
This is awesome! I'm really late on this thread but I'm curious which festival in Missouri you submitted if you don't mind me asking. I attend Arts and Crafts at Screenland Armour in Kansas City every year and this sounds like something that might be a good fit, plus they are dog people!
