Badge Purchase Instructions
This page will look different than it has in the past! To ease your worries, we have provided some tips and tricks below to help you navigate the new badge purchase and registration system. Please click an image to enlarge.
STEP 1: Enter the Comic-Con Member ID and last name of yourself or the person you’d like to purchase for.
STEP 2: Click “Validate”. You’ll see that their name now appears under the “Validate” button. IMPORTANT: Your badge will not be in your cart until you select “Add to Cart” at the bottom of the page.
STEP 3: After you select “Add to Cart”, a pop-up will appear that allows you to purchase for other attendees. If you’d like to purchase for another member, select “Register Another Member”. If not, select “Checkout” and move to step 5 below.
STEP 4: To register another member, follow the same steps above. The members already in your cart can be found on the right side of your screen.
If you want to remove a member, you can do so by clicking the red X next to their name while they are in your cart on the right-hand side of the screen.
Remember, you can purchase for a total of 3 members. If you want to clear someone after they have been validated, but before adding them to your cart, simply enter in a new Member ID and last name. The newly validated member will replace the person previously listed.
STEP 5: Select “Checkout” from the pop-up when you have finished adding all members. You’ll be directed to our COVID-19 policy and purchase terms and conditions. Select “I agree to the above statement” and then “Save & Continue”.
STEP 6: Purchase your badges. Enter your payment information and billing address. Click “Save and Continue”.
STEP 7: Confirm your address when prompted. We highly suggest that you confirm the “Suggested Address.” This will help ensure you have the correct address for future badge shipping (NOTE: We are not shipping badges for Special Edition). If you receive the “Invalid Address” pop-up, review your address for accuracy. If it is correct, you can still select “Use Address Anyway” and continue. Then, enter your CVV code when prompted and select “Continue”.
STEP 8: Enter your name and email address. The email address you enter must match exactly and is case-sensitive.
STEP 9: Below the contact information box, you can review your order. This is also where you can remove members if needed. Simply click the red “X” next to “Comic-Con Special Edition”.
STEP 10: Click “Process Order” and you’ll be directed to the confirmation screen. Print or take a screenshot of this page for your records. You may close your browser window at this time.
THE FINISH LINE
Congratulations! Your Comic-Con Special Edition badge purchase is complete.
Each person that has a badge purchased for them will receive an order receipt via email, and all members will receive a barcode confirmation email shortly before the event. We encourage you to add [email protected] as an approved/authorized sender to your email account.
If you do not receive your order receipt email within 24 hours, check your SPAM inbox or log in to your Comic-Con Member ID account and use the "Contact Us" feature.
THE FINE PRINT
While Comic-Con has made every effort to make the badge purchase experience fair for everyone, it is possible that problems outside of our control could result in the system not working as planned. The possibility exists that anti-virus, anti-spyware, and anti-malware software may aggressively block browser cookies, JavaScript, or other operations of modern web applications. It is also possible that user error, specific hardware problems, local ISP issues, or simply the extremely high level of demand beyond our control may result in your computer and/or browser not behaving as described above. While Comic-Con has done extensive testing, we make no guarantees that your efforts will result in a successful badge purchase regardless of when you enter the process.
As always, we are sincerely grateful for your continued support and interest in our event. We know that purchasing a badge can be a challenge and we are constantly exploring options to improve your online registration experience. We will continue to offer deeply discounted rates for juniors, seniors, and active-duty members of the military, as well as one of the most generous free child badge policies in the comic convention industry.

I keep telling myself it's no big deal, there won't be any of the big players, it's not a real Con. And yet my stomach is jumpy, my hands are sweaty and I can't relax. I just can't quit you (Comic-Con).

I keep telling myself it's no big deal, there won't be any of the big players, it's not a real Con. And yet my stomach is jumpy, my hands are sweaty and I can't relax. I just can't quit you (Comic-Con).
My mind is telling me it's no problem. So far, all signs point towards a chill con. My heart is telling me not to get my hopes up.
-
I wish I knew how this was going to go down. But I suppose we all do.
It could sell out in 20 minutes and leave a lot of people disappointed. It could sell out in two hours and maybe leave a few people disappointed. It could sell out in a couple of days. It might not sell out at all.
Reasons it might sell out quickly:
• A few toy companies have already announced exclusives. That means there's going to be people tripping all over themselves, and tripping over others, to get an item they may not even particularly want. They just know it's "exclusive" so they have to have it at all costs even if it means risking life and limb.
• Attendees who score a badge to CCSE will also be eligible for San Diego Comic-Con 2023 Returning Registration. That means there's going to be people who will try and buy a badge for this show with no intention of actually attending. It's going to be worth 150 clams to them just for a chance at SDCC 2023.
• This will be the first physical event in San Diego since SDCC 2019. I get that people miss it. That's the main reason I'm going.
Reasons it might NOT sell out quickly:
• COVID is still out there and it's still killing people. That's ... actually a pretty good reason to want to sit this one out. I cannot and will not argue with that.
• No Hall H. 'nuff said.
• You have to buy a badge for all three days. No single day options. No problem for me, but I totally get why some people may not want to commit.
• It's Thanksgiving weekend. Family time for a lot of people. There are other things to do that weekend besides go to a smallish comic con.
• Out of towners will have to risk getting on airplane if they're not within driving distance. See above about COVID.
• It's real doubtful that the big movie studios and the major comic book publishers will be there. The organizers have not said anything definitively but at this point it just doesn't seem likely. That's a big draw for a lot of people.
So really, it's anyone's guess. We shall see what we shall see.

a few weeks ago, when contemplating the then unannounced sale, I started to get nervous. The Group leaders started talking. Should we or shouldn't we was the theme. We decided to put an ad hoc system in place because the system is different and folks are rusty.
I did vol. reg
The thing that threw me was the different check out procedure.
But the time limit was much shorter, 5 min to get through the process. Be aware of the clock!
those of us going through this process will be a ***lot*** better prepared for SDCC '22(or '21) sale

Just wanted to say thanks for creating this board. There's probably going to be a lot of chatter in the coming weeks.
I'm hopeful that Comic Con Special Edition is a lot of fun and it becomes a regular fall event in San Diego.

you're welcome, i've been thinking about it for a while but i wanted to see how much traction SE would garner. The single thread was getting hard to follow with all the different themes. Feel free to start threads ! I just put a few in place to get us going :)

I have read all the badge info I can find for Saturday's sale, but have not been able to ferret out how much time we will have to enter information once allowed into the actual badge purchase screens. Considering the surprise I had at the paltry 2 min 15 sec, I got for the volunteer registration, I sure hope we get more than that. For the last sale, we were told that badges would be held for --I think 10 min. -- once selected, while we entered info. It would calm my nerves a bit if I knew.
I just clicked on the link sent out by cci on the 22. I was sent to que-it then advanced to the 'you're too early page' BUT that page has a timer at the top of it. It starts at 5 min. I truly hope we get more time then that!!
I don't think we'll know until the first people are in the buying room
-

I'll pay $150 just to be able to go down to pickup a badge, hopefully a t-shirt and walk around a bit. I'll be content with that.
-
With the queue-it system, you can open multiple browsers to help your chances of getting in.
-
In the waiting room (Otherwise known as The Black Hole of Calcutta) now.
Oh, the suspense!!!
Good luck, everyone!

No silly messages this morning from the badge-selling crew, huh: I miss that bit of goofy fun :(
-
I ignored the advice of CCI and I've been waiting all hour. 2 min warning.

I ignored the advice of CCI and I've been waiting all hour. 2 min warning.
I just logged in: we'll see who gets in first?
-
I'm in the queue but no estimated time.
Update: Now it says more than an hour.
-
Off we go, with the slow-walking dude; estimated time = 21 mins, which is slightly less than double when my wife logged in an hour early for Pro badge sales
-

Sucks. More than an hour for me. Which could be an hour. It could be never.
-
Ugh. Two browsers in, one "more than an hour", one 50 minutes. This is going to go on much longer than I expected.

47 mins does the time matter to when your selected
-
Time changed to 20 min estimate 8)
-
My walking man is walking way too fast for it to take an hour. Way too fast. He's like 20% of the way there. Does he just get stuck at the end?
-

Doesn't appear so; I logged in w/5 mins before it started and got 21 min wait (which changed to 20 and now appears to be 19)
-

IIRC from Pro sales, the walking dude gets to the end and then takes you to the buying page.
FWIW my time has changed twice from 21 mins to 20 mins then 19 mins. Just now mid-typing the time changed back to 20 mins.
-
58 mins now!!!!!!
-
any updates on inventory? 8 minutes to go!
-
Message last updated: 10:59 AM PDT
The Comic-Con Special Edition badge sale has started! If you are selected, you will be automatically moved to a registration session.
2 browsers. Earliest is 30 minutes.

No updates. Not sure if the yellow box will have updates. Comic-Con isn't tweeting this morning it looks like.

Wouldn't it be funny if there was no hard limit? That could be why there hasn't been much news on what this con will be. They are waiting to see how many badges they can sell and then will scale the con accordingly. It would have been bad to plan a grand con only to have not many takers.
-
39 mins now!!! That was a quick 19 mins. Don't step away thinking you have an hour to kill. The time estimate isn't linear.
-
Now changed to 17 mins
-
Since it’s only 3 day badges, there’s really no need for updates — either they’re close to selling out, or they aren’t.
-
Trying to log in with a friend's account and I'm getting the same error message we got a Pro sales w/"no results found" when clicking verification :o
-
Well I wouldn’t mind knowing how long say 50% took to sell out
-
Got my badges. It was a 9 minute wait for me.
Just note you have 5 minutes to complete everything, not 15 like old system.
Also, I got three separate confirmation emails for each badge purchased, within 2minutes of purchasing.
-
the 5 minute timer on each page is a bit stressful. everytime i moved to a new page it would initially show 0 minutes left but then it would change to correct time after a second or so.
-
It's not linear, no... but it DOES seem to indicate relative place in the queue. I.e., everyone gets assigned a place at the beginning, instead of being randomly selected throughout. No more "be the cheerio".

another note my computer played a chime before sending me into buy. make sure your sound is on so you don't miss it.
-
Logged in with multiple browsers & windows, and all got the same times. Kinda interesting, and different from past systems (prior to the one code-per-person that CCI has been using for awhile)
-
It teased me by going down to 19 mins before going back up to 25. Now it's dropped 12 minutes in 3 real world minutes.

Badges purchased. See you in November!

Didn’t realize we had to pick all 3 days or nothing. We’re in, but aren’t buying. Anyone needing tickets?
Out of the loop so not sure if BG’s were happening this time around.

FInished 1137 my order number was high 35k I assume this is how many have sold

Different browsers (Safari & Firefox)
I went with a similar strategy. some had same or similar times and other had different ones. probably just coincidence that you got same time.
-
Can people who finished before say there approx order number roughly before and after 1137 …that they are either above/ below high 35k order number as a baseline.
We might know how many badges they are selling this way.
Just curious about what number we land on…if true
-
FInished 1137 my order number was high 35k I assume this is how many have sold
Interesting; my Pro Order # was low 24k and my Guest Order # was two numbers away from mine instead of back-to-back (mine ends in 4, theirs ends in 6)
-

That seems likely, and I only have two different browsers so it's not exactly a definitively large sampling number
-
Order in 36K.
Why does it say free? That was confusing.
Plus each page you go to is new 5 minute timer.

Other browser used to double check. I think you'd have to enter another member ID, Validate, then can remove the previously purchased person?

I was in the process of put in my credit card info and got kicked out - after only 5 minutes of entering the site!
-
So I wasn't planning on coming. I had three windows open, one saying 20-minute wait (my login, Chrome), the second 35-minute wait (sis in law’s login, Safari) and the third over an hour (bro’s login, Firefox). When my turn came up, everybody I was buying badges for already got theirs, so on a lark, I decided to buy a badge for myself, my bro and my sis-in-law. If they don't want their badges, I have until November 8 to get refunds. My order number was 32250. Finished at 11:22am PDT.
-
Done. In the end the wait was 42 minutes even though it said it would be more than an hour. The walking man was accurate, I thought it was walking too fast but in the end it was more accurate than the estimated time. Took 40 secs to be redirected after it said it was my time. Be patient and don't think it's broken. The volunteer registration let me expect this. Took me about a minute to checkout.
I do find it's interesting that badge pickup is in Hall H and not in Sails. So I guess we can all say we made it into Hall H this year.

Looks like it. That's a lot of badges. :)

FWIW Comic-Cons have been the impetus for my most improbable 'impulse buys' over the decades :P

I wonder if that's to true to minimize throngs of people on the escalator waiting to pick up badges. Hall H has so much room and multiple doors, it could be easier to socially distance/process more badge pick-ups.
FWIW I've been to a few non-CCI conventions at the SD Convention Center, and when Hall H is not set-up SDCCI-style it has REALLY tripped me out: super bright, no chairs, sometimes not 'walled off.'

Update:
Safari was pulling ahead of Firefox, but now Firefox walking dude has sprinted ahead with a two minute lead! It's gonna be a down-to-the-wire photo-finish, folks!!

Hmm. My confirm email was 11:10am and my order number was 29Kish. 6K orders in 27 minutes seems low. Although I guess that could be 18K badges if everyone bought 3. But then how did they sell 29K in the first ten minutes?

That could include Pros + Press.

Thank you! Good point. I imagine lots of people bought for multiples…but your right that seems high.
I don’t know what they started on for sure, but least gives us a idea of total people. I imagine the cap could be the same as a sporting event.

I've got a room booked at the Hard Rock and now a badge but i'm still not sure if i'm going either. I have NYCC in less than 2 weeks and a sneaker con in Anaheim the weekend before SECC. I want to go but feels like i've got too much going on already. But just incase I decide I can go i'm all set.

That seems right. I bought roughly 9 minutes after that and my order number is about 2K higher.
I don't think it started at 0 an hour ago. This is all one big sale since volunteer registration. So it's a sum total of all badges sold this week including volunteers and pros. That would also explain why the price was "free" until checkout. Since the volunteer badges were free.

* Safari ended up winning
BUT...
I tried first with friends' CCI info, two different ones. Neither worked. Then I tried with mine & my wife's. Also didn't work. :(
This is not a thing, as everyone in my fam that's going to SDCC SE got badges in the Pro sales Tuesday. BUT this does make me nervous for any future sales...
-
I'm in! I'm in! I'm in like Flynn with a great big grin!
At 11:51 AM, I was order number 39419, for those keeping score at home.
This is cool! A live, physical event again! Congrats to everyone who made it!
-
What I like is it’s now giving an hour to complete your process, instead of each screen 5 min

It looks like they are selling 13-14K badges an hour. Let's see how long it goes.

Got it!! Had a glitch with first CC but when I hit change it reset the clock for 5min. 4100s

After closing, I reopened from my friend's CCI Member link. I copy/pasted directly from the Member ID info page on CCI's site (essentially ALL CAPS), and then had zero problems.
The system works :D

Hmm. So if there were around 42K orders (including press/pro/vol/attendee) that tells us... functionally nothing, because some orders could be multiples of up to 3. And the convention center capacity is 100 or 120K right? So we still just know it's less people than usual, but no idea how many.
-
It looks like it's run out of steam. The wait time now is a minute.
Right; everyone got in the first hour, and now they've all mostly gotten their badges and it's chill. Funny to watch the walking dude speed walk to the near-end in less than a min. wait time :P
Also, FWIW, still Pro badges available (dunno about free guests)
-
I missed seeing real yellow box updates for inventory and such.

I’m cool with a smaller con, just want enough to entice enough content too.

Well, the order number was different for both me and the guest I got a badge for so the Orders should be fairly accurate?
-

It makes sense they wouldn't need to update inventory since it's all-or-nothing as far as the days. BUT, what I miss are the witty bon mots used with the updates: I would've liked to have my geeky humor this am but I get/appreciate the low key-ness
-

I think it's much less than that. I went back to my volunteer order and that was already in the low 20Ks. There's no way there are going to be 20K volunteers. So that order number already was pretty high before any actual badges were "purchased".
There are also duplicates. Since I have a volunteer order and a paid order. There's still just one of me attending.
Well, the order number was different for both me and the guest I got a badge for so the Orders should be fairly accurate?
That would imply that Turkeycon will have about 20-25K attendees as of now.

IDK; I would've thought that was true a year ago, but after watching "Loki" I dunno what to think anymore...

They really need to change the timer! It took me four kick-outs and returns to get everything in and had to start over every time - and that was for buying one badge - I don't see people that were buying three badges were able to do it! I want time to check my entries to make sure I have everything correct before moving to the next page - I just hope I got everything right!
-

So the clock changed every time I did something. I validated a name and then added it to cart, next name had five mins, the next name five mins, went to check out a new five minutes, and so on. I must have typed my CC wrong and I freaked it said two mins, but when I went to edit payment I got a new five mins. So the new time is how I did it, didn't matter if you added one or 3 since it reset. So why you actually have more time than the old I hate it! At least give the CC/info page seven mins.
That clock is nerve-wracking though!

So the clock changed every time I did something. I validated a name and then added it to cart, next name had five mins, the next name five mins, went to check out a new five minutes, and so on. That is not how it worked for me - I only had five minutes to do everything!
-
I agree, I found the 5 min clock just made me more anxious, just give me a flat 15-20 minutes and I’m good.

Because they changed the whole format, it almost took me more than five minutes. I was rushing so fast at one point I almost forgot to put the E-mail address in my order. I wasn’t really paying attention to the clock as it only would have made me nervous.

I would die! That sucks yours was broken.

That would imply that Turkeycon will have about 20-25K attendees as of now.
We got to the purchase page within the first minute (~11:01-11:02; received confirmation email 11:04) and our order numbers were 27XXX.
I've seen reports elsewhere of order numbers over 408XX. So your estimate sounds on point.
-
FYI: still EZPZ buying badges. If you have friends who haven't bought yet, were busy and sales start time and think they missed their window, they can still very easily purchases Turkey-Con badges (and FWIW it's quite entertaining seeing walking dude sprint to the end w/less than a min. to wait :P )
-
It's pretty clear that badges have not yet sold out. Honestly, this is feeling very much like WonderCon, with the ease of getting badges and hotel.
-
I'm glad everyone who wanted to get a badge could get one! If only regular SDCC could be this easy!
-
It was so much fun getting to work together again for the good of all. I was a bit nervous in the beginning but as the sale opened up and badges were obtained with amazing speed. Yay!

Yeah, my BG didn’t need me! They were doing just fine on their own. I seriously didn’t expect nor planned to buy badges for myself and my family.

Is Configo the same vendor used by TicketMaster for rock concerts? I remember seeing both the walking man and time waiting for ticket purchase when I bought tickets to see The Rolling Stones perform in Pasadena.

Great summation of the event! Thanks @Transmute Jun (https://www.friendsofcc.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=314)
Other observations;
folks were able to make a Member ID when the sale was happening. I know of one person who found out about the sale at 11 15am, made a member id, joined the que & bought a badge around noon.
the running man time was not completely accurate. The time estimation was likely based on an average time to complete the buying process. When the buying session was terminated early, that affected the running man's estimated time.
The order number for volunteers was approx. in the 22000 range. Towards the end of the general sale I saw an order number of 36000. I fully believe they sold a few more after that order number.
the first badge buying I saw was at 11:02. Sorting was extremely fast!

They still need to allot more time to complete the registration process - I only had 5 minutes to complete the entire registration process and was bumped out several times and had to wait to get back in and start from the beginning each time. The timer never reset back to 5 minutes for each page. I sent a message to Comic-con about this.

For the record, still no sell out.

How did I miss this board? :). Anyway...
One other thing that I noticed. If you bought a badge for someone else, they got a confirmation email AND you got copied on it. If you bought for someone else, and forgot to do a screen shot (because you were stressed about getting everything right and looking at the 5 minute countdown), No worries. :)

Interesting so 22XXX to 45XXX order numbers. 23000 orders between Vol reg, pro reg & the first wave of gen reg.

Good observation. As someone who as a music teacher/marching band designer who annually has to prepare/work within a budget, I like to "over-budget/under-spend" and in that regard I 100% appreciate that the multiple times I messed around the badge-buying, including with Pro-reg early screw up, the walking man almost always end up slightly shorter than the original projection. The only "problem" with that (read: there was no actual problem BUT) was when I had to run to the bathroom and when I came back a few mins before my slotted time I was already looking at the verify screen.
Presuming CCI uses this method for high-traffic events (ala 2023 SDCCI) this is something for folks to take into consideration. Again, that's Uber-overthinking perhaps, but for those of us over-thinkers/over-planners it's something
-

It was around 40800 yesterday afternoon. So since the initial rush, about 4-5K badges sold in about 24 hours.

In the past, how good/quick is CC with badge refunds? Both my bro and sis in law can’t make it, so I just requested refunds for both. I’m still going.

Still the same.

Has anyone received their Bar Codes for badge pick up yet?

At Designer Con and Complex Con it was, but neither of those were run by CCI

I would legit be _shocked_ if Turkey Con sells out: especially now that the schedule is out and there isn't anything really sexy. I guess maybe if there are some amazing exclusives announced that _might_ move the needle; but I don't think that this was EVER going to sell out
-
I'm really curious why they are having badge pickup in Hall H instead of Sails like normal. Is it cheaper to rent Hall H than Sails? Or do they just want everyone to be able to say they were able to make it into Hall H this year.

I suspect it may just be easier: have registration/badge pickup in a huge, open Hall that is easy to socially distant & load in & out of for CCI.

I wonder how my badges they actually sold so far - and how many have canceled after the program schedule was announced?

Pro Badge Barcodes starting to go out.

Volunteer badge pickup is also in Hall H. So it seems they are operating everything out of Hall H instead of having separate locations like normal.

I have a friend that hasn't gotten their Bar Code email yet - is anyone else in the same boat?

There’s a pin (Comic con 2020) you can get while supplies last if you pick up your badge before Thanksgiving.

I wonder if badge sales will just stop on Wednesday or whether there will offer day options.

Badges are still for sale. It's interesting what's going to happen by midnight tonight.

They are selling badges on site. When was the last time you saw that at comic-con?

Badge sales continue unchanged. I guess the 3 day passes will be on sale until the end.
Update: It's the same with on site sales. The only thing offered is a 3 day pass for $150.
