This is a place to link to your own cosplay photos (perhaps as you are working on them to show the steps, or even just the finished product), or show us a link to a gallery of cosplay photos you've taken.
(This means that you'll have to upload your photo to PostImage.org, Photobucket, TinyPic, ImageShack, or another photo-uploading website.)
Please try to use the URL/hyperlink tag to link to your photos. (Or, you can just copy and paste the link, and the forum will automatically change it to a hyperlink.) Hopefully it'll help with scrolling down the page and looking through many posts and pictures later on.
If you're using the "Full" reply page, there's an icon with the little globe. That's the URL tag.
If you're using the Quick Reply at the bottom of the thread, you can use the following code--
URL tag:
[ url]direct link to your photo goes here[ /url]
Just remember to remove the spaces in-between.
Or, you can just copy and paste the link. The forum automatically changes it to a hyperlink by itself.
Good luck on your cosplays! ^_^ Looking forward to seeing them.

Merged new topic to the already existing cosplay photo thread for CCI 2012. ^_^d

Of all the cosplays I've done, this was my simplest and yet one of my all-time favourites:
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lk29bxXLl51qfzvrdo1_500.jpg
(I'm Buttercup, and this was taken at Manifest Melbourne '09 at my friend's artist booth.)
However this cosplay took the longest to come to fruition (can we say 8 years?!), primarily because this only works when you have 2 other friends to form a complete Powerpuff Girls team with, and believe me that was the hardest part!! Too bad I don't have a team this year so all my SDCC cosplays will have to be solo ones. :P
-
That's very cute! I can see how it would work best as a Team, though. You did a great job!
-
Thank you, Transmute!! I'd love to see your cosplays too :D We need to liven this section of the forum up! I'm surprised that we haven't gotten that many crazy cosplayers here yet, or maybe they're just lurking. :p
I'm just gonna go ahead and post another shot of my buddy and I doing Sougo and Kagura from Gintama, one of my all-time fave anime/mangas.
http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lfxt20xYQj1qfzvrdo1_1280.jpg
This is the 3-Z version, at Matsuri Con, and don't you be fooled by the staged cheeriness. We were both dying from the horrible, 95 degree weather and right after that shot was taken we tried to punch each other to get over the heatstroke HAHAHA
-
@dogberry: Love the cosplays (both pictures). Hm, no kidding! It doesn't look like it was hot outside at all at Matsuri Con. ;p
-
Thanks, Zero! Well that's Singapore for you, where the weather is tropical, humid and sweltering 365 days a year so the whole city-country is made of air-conditioned buildings. Kinda the reason why I 'quit' cosplay and conventions when I moved back after college. Everyone's a stinky dripping mess before the middle of the day, urgh!
On the upside, growing up in this has given me a fair bit of heat tolerance so I think I should be fine cosplaying the whole day while battling panel queues at SDCC without melting too much. :D
-
You may actually find it cool! The past few years it's actually been almost chilly during the COn, especially since the convention center is right on the water.

Indeed. I think you'll be just fine in mid-July at SDCCI. ^_^d Think of it as training! Ha ha.

here is a pictures of my finished Vriska Serket cosplay I'll be wearing at comic con.

Awesome!!!! I love the ice blue lipstick! It adds that special touch...
How do you keep the horns up/not sliding around?
-
The horns are attached to a headband, so they stay pretty still.
-
Awesome make up and horns, Metalsummer! I've been seeing these Homestuck characters more and more (in cosplay and on Tumblr), should find the time to check it out one of these days.
Curious though, when you paint your hands, doesn't the make up smudge everywhere on your clothes or on things that you touch?
-
A little bit, the makeup sealer keeps it from smudging too much.

Yes!!! Finally found the perfect blue sweater! Now I have the outfit for one of my four SDCC cosplays put together (please excuse the face and hair - will work on those in due time). Three guesses on who it is, and the first two don't count. :P
-
Not sure... is it Tintin? Hard to tell without the hair. ;)
-
Hahaha I am still looking for a suitable wig, and I'm planning to buy Snowy at the Offficial Tintin shop/cafe (yes, the Ambassador of Belgium actually opened one here - in the heart of Chinatown!!). What I love about Tintin cosplay: it's EXTREMELY comfortable, has pockets, and perfectly wearable out of cosplay which helps bring down the cost-per-wear. :D

Oh, that looks really nice! Hm, you can actually wear that out for a formal night on the town. Versatile cosplays for the win! ^_^d

I also added hidden pockets! lol I'm abt working in comfort/convenience
-
So here is a cosplay I'm considering wearing... Natsu from Soul Calibur V... not sure how comfortable it would be though... for comfort's sake, I might end up changing my mind lol

Wow, that looks great! And it actually *looks* comfy (meaning not too restrictive because the material stretches). How is it to wear?
-

haha well after just a few minutes I start sweating, but I'm in TX and it's pretty damn hot here right now.. not sure how it would do in the convention center though.. especially since I tend to be pretty susceptible to heat exhaustion lol
-
Fair enough. I can see what you mean about it being 'rubbery' and you not breathing.
FWIW, San Diego is on the cool side. The last few years we've been lucky to see highs in the 70s during Con. The COnvention Center ir right on the water, where it is coolest.
Unless you're standing outside in the sun during the hottest part of day (say, in the line for Hall H) you're not likely to suffer heat exhaustion.
-
You could always bring a change of clothes just in case. I've never been hot in the exhibit floor, but it does get crowded, so if you aren't comfortable, it might not be worth it.
-

Not to sound dramatic, but pockets can save your life during conventions! I can't think of anywhere I'd put my cellphone otherwise. Also, that gown is absolutely gorgeous!!

They are actually handmade leafs made from (don't laugh!) Crayola Air Dry Clay that have been painted and sewn on >_<

Hi All! Well, as of tonight I have 1 costume complete. My other costume (and my husband's) are getting there, but in the mean time here's my rendition of the Other Mother from Coraline by Neil Gaiman.

Thanks! The button eyes are molded plastic, so they actually look like stitched buttons and I can see through the button holes. Not perfectly, it's a little like I forgot to put in a contact lens but it works. Unfortunately I don't have a close up picture to show you at the moment.

Very clever! Clay is fantastic for cosplay. I had my first experience with it trying to make the Omega pendant worn by American McGee's Alice, because I saw it on a cosplay site (And it was flat and plain) for USD60! Hi All! BRAVO! I love your dress! It can definitely be worn out on a non-cosplay basis, the pouf at the back is adorable! Did you sew your dress yourself?
-
Every one has such wonderful cosplays planned! I love it XD
Any ways, here is my Dexter Morgan kill suit laid out
http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m4inivIguY1qf8q36o1_1280.png
I didn't think I had any photos of me in it, but I found some on my friends facebook from her Halloween party from 2010 lol
http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/75382_1486562120122_322448_n.jpg
(I don't think I'll be bringing the apron, mask, and bone saw though
-
Everyone's cosplays look so good! I can't wait to see them at the con.
here are my other finish cosplays:
Preview of Amy Pond: http://metalsummer.deviantart.com/art/Amy-Pond-Preview-305764283
and Roxy Lalonde: http://metalsummer.deviantart.com/art/Roxy-Lalonde-hates-the-batterwitch-299139996
Another of Roxy showing off my pink contacts: http://metalsummer.deviantart.com/art/Pink-eyed-roxy-300930470
I am getting excited!

Thanks! Yup, it's 100% handmade. The construction was weird because the actual one from the movie has no closures or anything and would actually be impossible to wear... so I had to get creative with it!
I actually have photos of my Nausicaa costume now too. I still have a few details to finish (belt buckle, sword, bandage) but for all intents and purposes it's wearable!
Front (photoshopped for funzies)

I'm a little worried about being hot in this one, but oh well. 18 days!!!!
-
Everyone's coosplays look wonderful! I can tell you guys are putting in a lot of effort and love into them. It really shows!
-
@metalsummer - You make a great Amy Pond! Will you be taking part in The Doctor and Companion Look-a-Likes contest that Alyssa posted here: http://www.friendsofcci.com/forum/index.php?topic=727.0 ?
@tarrbear - The blood looks awesome. I used red food dye for my Alice cosplay but it's messy as hell and leaves stains on my hands for days. Are you wearing this to the Dexter panel?
@Abunai - I wish I had your sewing skills! The Nausicaa outfit does look a little warm (I reckon anything that covers your head must be) but FOR THE SAKE OF COSPLAY. :D
I finally completed my #@$#@$#@ wings for Castiel. I ordered batches of turkey, rooster and pigeon feathers and glued them onto a foam/steel frame one by one. Damn near went high on all that glue inhalation.
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/215/20120626213338salomon.jpg/
Here it is, together with the trenchcoat, suit jacket, tie etc. Haven't put on my wig yet, I'm still not sure whether I should do a genderswitch version because there is no way I'm going to look like Misha Collins, being female and the wrong ethnicity and all haha!
-
Nice!!
In the next days i'll post my costumes for this year.
-
Wow, that looks awesome! now I can see why you were worried about bringing the feathers in your luggage!
Keep in mind that it's a bit wide... the wings may get crushed if you go right into the thick of the Con floor.
-
@Transmute - I was worried about that too, so I batter-tested the wings by walking into doors and smacking them around. They're actually pretty study because of the foam, wood and steel frame, and I stuck each feather individually to ensure that they don't come out easily. The wings come apart and are screwed together in the centre, so I can pack them separately and flat in my luggage, and bend them into shape before wearing. Also bringing spare feathers in glue JUST IN CASE, but I'm not too worried. :)
I think my biggest gripe over my cosplays is mostly fitting into them, and looking the part as much as possible.
-

Thanks! Luckily, that was how the apron came, but I know what you mean with the red food dye, experimented with it once, the evidence of it lingered for days!
I'm thinking about it, it's incredibly comfortable so sitting in it all day won't be a problem... Hmm, maybe!
And those wings look awesome!

Very nice!!!! My favorite is definitely the Staypuft! Are you going to do face makeup with it as well?
-

Thank you. I don't think so, I don't feel comfortable wearing face make up for 18 straight hours. Maybe at a further smaller/shorter convention I will experiment with that.
-
ok, so i already sorta posted this cosplay i made, but i totally finished and took a for real photo of it on my friend allegra! so proud of the first cosplay i made!! ^_^

Awesome!!

I can see that. Makeup can be messy too. Maybe for future cons you could get a mask made.
I tend to break out if I wear super heavy makeup, so I can sympathize with your discomfort.

I think i could buy http://www.retailstinks.com/store/images/T/white-3holes.jpg instead of make up, and wear it every now and then.
Amazon has it on Prime shipping. I could get it before the Con.
