Disneyland Avengers Campus
« on: March 11, 2020, 10:24:51 AM »
So we have already planned since last year that we would be going to Disneyland on our way to SDCC. I just learned that the Avengers Campus opens on the 18th of July. I was planning to go to Disneyland on the 19-21st. I don't know if i should be excited about this or not. Anyone else going to Disneyland before SDCC?

I am planning on going from the 18th to the 20th leave Anaheim on the 21st to make my way to San Diego. I was hoping that it would open earlier so that all the opening day crowds weren't there on the day that I wanted to go but at least it will be open.

Confirmed that they have halted the building of the Avengers Campus, for the time being. So it will be delayed. This isn't official Disney news, it's from a guy I know working on it.

This was definitely on my mind. thanks for confirming. I wonder if Disney hasn't announced because they still think they can hit that date? or maybe they are just trying to avoid piling more bad news on top off all the other bad news.

If they think they won't hit that date I think they would have a fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders to report that.  I have no inside-baseball knowledge, this is just me spitballing, but I suspect they announced a much-later than usual opening date last week considering this viral crisis would set things back.  I've been an Annual Passholder off-and-on (almost all on, with the exception of about 10 or so months when my youngest kid was first born) for 15+ years and I don't ever recall something as major as a new Land opening that late in the summer.  They like to either open in a off-periods to try to stimulate business (like CA Adventures opened in Feb), or late spring to prep for Summer Crush (like Galaxy's Edge soft-opened in late-May).  I only know of D-Land, obviously, but I can't recall a major attraction grand open happening in the last-3rd of July, which would be _maybe_ mid-Summer at best.  The fact that opening was announced in the middle of this crisis (globally: at the very onset of US going into lock-down) as lateish-July to me feels telling to me

Honestly I’ll be shocked if SDCC even happens
Fun isn’t something one considers when preparing for Comic-Con, but attending does put a smile on my face

It was phase one opening that date in July with the ant man restaurant and Spidey ride. The entire campus won’t be finished until a later date
