It's December, the month where I like to read spooky/scary stuff. Does anyone have recommendations?

I don't really read a lot of spooky stuff but I enjoyed "The Monster of Elendhaven" by Jennifer Giesbrecht.

This is such great news. I didn't want to imagine a San Diego without @MystGalaxyBooks. And now, thanks to Matt Berger and Jenni Marchisotto, we won't have to. Congrats to them and you and to all of us who love the shop.

Finally got around to reading a couple highly-anticipated books and I was a little let down by both of them: The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black and Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi. They're both part of a series and it felt like a complete shift from earlier books.

Because I recently just binged on His Dark Materials and The Witcher, I’m working on those two series at the moment.

I love all of Myke Cole's books. Working my way through re-reading them. Just finished his Shadow Ops series.

I finally binged The Witcher last weekend to mixed feelings about whether I like the series or not. I reserved the first book of the series from my library to listen to and see if I enjoy that more.

Just finishing Hitman for the Dead. A little preview book by Bob Burden (Flaming Carrot, Mystery Men) in a rough draft version.

For my graphic novel book club, we are reading Sandman. I love how he intertwines with other known characters and how the art changes with those characters.

Comic-Con’s Graphic Novel Book Clubs almost made it through the month of March before the stay-at-home protocols were introduced. We actually cancelled the last two meetings (Balboa Park and Escondido 1), before CA Governor Gavin Newsom made the announcement to stay at home for the foreseeable future.

In April, the Book Clubs will begin video-conferencing for their meetings via Zoom … and the creation of the Zook Club!
