PSA/REMINDER: Even if you didn't get a room, please post your results in the Hotel Sale Data thread: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

In that thread only, even a negative result is good data!

Nothing about this OnPeak makes any sense. 9:00, 9:07, etc. Time is apparently just a construct to them.

CCI is going to get more than the usually ear full this year.  I'm glad I went with MGH as second choice, seems was a good bet this year.  Was in maybe 40 second mark, one of the first emails in first wave, initially I was a bit annoyed I didn't get top choice, MMM, but after all the reports, just glad to have it.  I bet HBF and MMM, didn't offer as many rooms due to 50th needs.

According to onpeak, all wave 2 emails have gone out.  And now I sigh heavily with disappointment because I just don't get their system.  (My friend got in at 9:03, how did he not get an email?)

It really does seem to have been extra hard to get downtown/convention adjacent this year overall. It seems like getting in under a minute is no longer a good indicator of whether you'll get your top 6 (assuming your top 6 are all downtown).

I got in around 9:02am and received nothing.  Their "system" doesn't seem like a system...

That makes even less sense!

They're just throwing names into a hat at this point.

Went through hotel lottery, got in around 1min 47s, and I got a Hilton in Mission Valley. My question; is the deposit you pay subtracted from the total, or do they ask for a huge deposit on top of the total for the stay? It's a matter of $1200 or $1700, depending on how they do it.

When is the open sale generally held? Is there many cases where badge holders do not get a room at all and cannot attend?

The open sale happens May 6.  Badge holders who hold out for rooms next to the con might get lucky or completely shut out. Those who are willing to be farther away along the shuttle route or across the way on the island have a good chance of getting rooms.  Just keep an eye out.  The hotels drop in and out of that list and you have to be fast if you want the downtown hotels.  The other hotels tend to linger on the list longer.

The deposit is applied to the stay - the money is transferred to the hotel with your reservation, 2-3 weeks before SDCC.

Maybe the 50th anniversary has even more people wanting to come--even for the outside stuff this year.
It is 2024, and I am still asking...where's my flyin' car??!! @fannishmarcia

You're basically paying for 2 days of your stay with the deposit, so when you go and check in you're paying for the rest of it.

Thanks for this encouragement, I will be on top of this open sale and grab something. I have confidence I will get something.

Last time I got a room downtown was when Travel Planners was the vendor in 2015.  :D
