::Sigh:: If Fox doesn't get this right, we are probably never going to get the Dark Phoenix Saga...
-
I have my expectations low, but I do expect the general story will be quite different from the actual comic. I mean, if I recall, Jean Grey in the comics was responsible for A LOT of death & destruction, which I don't think they'll highlight in the movie. And I doubt they'll introduce the Sh'iar (and Xavier's Sh'iar Empress girlfriend) or the Blue Side of the Moon, where the climax of the story occurs. But I do kinda hope they get the general gist of the ending like it was in the comic. And if they do, it'd be the perfect opportunity to introduce Madeleine Pryor & Mr. Sinister.
(That is, if this is not the last X-Men movie before a full reboot.)

Well they already pretty much burned the Hellfire Club so in my mind they're definitely not going to get this right.
BUT...
The footage they showed at WonderCon looks promising that this movie could at least be "good" or "entertaining." It looks radically different from the comic story line already, but I'm open to a good/entertaining X-Men movie after the last piece of hot garbage produced (APOCALYPSE). I really hope that for Jennifer Lawrence/Fassbender/McAvoy's swan song they aren't wasted on a bad movie.
Right now, until I heard reviews from some of my critic friends, I'm cautiously optimistic it will at least be fairly good/entertaining. I really want to have faith that with that stellar class AND adding Jessica Chastain.
Weird note: is this the first X-men film of the entire series that doesn't have "X-Men" in the title?! Officially it's just "Dark Phoenix" w/no X-Men designation. I get hung up over weird things sometimes...(like how "Rock Man" is the title of the song but ROCKETMAN is the title of the movie -WHY?!?!?!?!) #Weirdo

Saw this last night. It is very dull, to the point of boredom. The Fox franchise signing off with a whimper.

Darn. Disappointing to hear. Thanks for posting.

Just read that there is a Dazzled cameo. Was that cool?

hate to hear this... I will still go, but was hoping for better. Fingers crossed that Disney does a better job with the X-Men franchise.....

Dazzler was the singer giving off the light show during the party in the woods.

Thanks. Interesting thing is that Dazzler was a character that Marvel created in the 80s? to star in a live action movie that never happened.

I enjoyed it, I didn't love it. I went in with low expectations and already knew I don't like Sophie Turner as Jean Grey. To me the way she plays the character feels one dimensional, however, my nieces love her as the character. I may be blinded by her as Sansa.
Days of Future Past remains my favorite.

Powered through this last night. Ugh. It wasn’t Fant4stic levels of awful because it had a couple of enjoyable moments (Magneto fights mostly, and Fassbender’s overall performance) but it was a fitting end to Fox’s dismal run. Sophie Turner just doesn’t seem to have any appeal other than being from game of thrones. Bland performance. Jennifer Lawrence’s new look looked better in the movie than the trailers but I wasn’t connected to the character at all. Most of the performances felt mailed in and I have to admit I was waiting for McAvoy to let out the beast in one scene lol. My favorite of this last set of films is still First Class. Really looking forward to what Feige and Co will do with all these characters.

Yes, it was cool. Very brief, but cool to see

I liked it, smaller in scale than most other xmen movies, I'm sure that's from being cut down to one movie from 2 at the last minute. Otherwise I enjoyed it and thought it was good, maybe not the best, but very far from being a bad movie

Thanks. From the screenshot I saw, I liked that they kept the blue face paint.

Finally saw it. My expectations were low, but it was still worse than I expected. I can't really blame any of the actors, because the script and direction were really awful.

TOTALLY agree. I'm at a point where I don't want to expend a lot of energy/time bagging on a film, but wow was the film almost the worst X-film of the longish list. I'm glad some people liked this; I think Fox should've just let the franchise end with LOGAN, but I get the business side. This movie might make quarter of a billion dollars (which will likely still be a fairly significant loss when factoring budget + distribution costs + marketing), but it'll die out and be gone from theaters sooner than later: sneaking off into the sunset while the vast majority won't notice.
Later, X-Men: until Marvel's Phase 5 & beyond!

I have a hard time believing the movie makes that much at the box office

Yeah, it'd have to make another $50ish million & I honestly don't know what foreign markets it hasn't played yet. I'm probably being generous, but the foreign markets can do weird things to the BO

It’s already opened in China and that’s where they got almost all their gross from so far.
