Test #4 yesterday: negative.  I'll test once more before heading into My office Monday, but aside from the usual post-con tiredness...so far so good.

In an example of how fluid a case of covid can be, Biden tested positive again today 3 days after testing negative and "recovering" from his bout with covid.  So he's back in isolation.  It looks to be paxlovid rebound.

I’m negative five days after my unmasked get-together with friends last Sunday, I never got covid!  :)  This is my second negative PCR test taken yesterday (Friday).  I also tested negative Tuesday.  I never developed any symptoms.  My iPhone notified me I may have been exposed twice Saturday and Sunday.

One thing I’ve wondered about since last week is the positivity rate of people who attended the EW party at Float in the Hard Rock on Saturday.  Float is outside, but after being not too crowded at the beginning, it got quite crowded and people were almost shoulder to shoulder later.  I found myself about three feet from Paul Wesley at one point and I was just trying to walk from Point A to Point B.. But, I haven’t heard about anyone I saw getting sick.

Just out of curiosity how many people did indoor dining?

I did every day, including Preview Night on Wednesday afternoon.  Not smart on my part.  I guess I was psychologically dying for some return to normalcy after almost two and a half years of no dining out.  It was something I used to do at past cons.  I should mention since the pandemic started, I only did indoor dining twice.

On a related note, did anyone's phone app (for those that have it) notify that they might have been around/in contact w/any that might've had it? My phone hasn't notified me at all yet, then again, it could also be too soon.

I’ve had the California Dept. of Health covid notifier app as long as it has existed, can’t say I remember when it started.  Until it worked twice this week for the first time, I thought the app was either broken or a dud.

Both times it took three days to notify me after exposure.

Both my sis and I tested negative on PCR test taken Friday. We both got multiple exposure alerts from our phones, though for different time periods, which was a little odd since we were together for 90% of the con. My sis was a lot more diligent about masking up than I was. For instance, she kept hers on as we strolled through the Gaslamp at night, while I was more haphazard about it.

I actually thought I MIGHT have it because I’ve been feeling blah this entire week, but now I think it’s just pure exhaustion and my body is still trying to recover. It probably didn’t help I jumped straight back into my normal running routine (I average about 92 miles/week). Also, I had A LOT of caffeine during SDCC (easily double my normal consumption, if not triple), and I do get caffeine withdrawal headaches quite easily.

In any case, I had fully accepted the fact that SDCC would be a COVID super spreader event and I’d have a significant chance of contracting it, yet I’m quite relieved to have avoided it.

Fortunate to get a negative result this morning on the PCR test I took on Friday. I guess all those naps I took this past week were out of pure exhaustion (like accelerate).

I definitely feel fortunate that I, nor my family, got COVID this summer.  From late-June through July we: flew to OH to visit family, spent 7 days/6 nights at Disneyland, and all 5 days of Comic-Con so we really pushed the limit.  I just finished my school's band camp last week, and feeling fine and ready to start the school year this week, so luckily avoiding unnecessary crowds (not eating out or offsites for me this year) & masking up in large crowds indoors & outdoors seemed to do the trick for me and the fam.

Hopefully by this point everyone that went to SDCC is healthy and happy

The U.K. became the first Western nation to authorize use of the Moderna vaccine that targets the Omicron variant, including the BA.5 subvariant.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention gave the go ahead for both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine boosters targeted to the Omicron BA.5 subvariant to be released to the public this month.  The first vaccine shots could be given out as soon as this weekend while the rest will be given out right after Labor Day weekend.

I scheduled myself for the new booster at Walgreens a week from next Sunday.  They start giving them out next Wednesday.

well,
i'm not sure if i scheduled myself for the new booster or the old but CVS is taking appointments for next week.

Right now, you have to call the CVS pharmacy to find out.  Some stores are already administering the updated booster, others stores will not even get it until the end of the month.  The CVS website doesn't note which stores have the updated booster.  You can make an appointment at Walgreens instead.  Their website seems to be offering only the updated booster starting next Wednesday.  Because of that only a few pharmacies take appointments.  As of now, only one Walgreens in San Diego County has the updated booster and thus is bookable.
