Starting next year’s thread. Memberships (aka badges) are at their lowest price now. I will get the calendar links up later.
Hotel alert (very last minute, I apologize) Per the Dragon*Con Hotel Connection FB page (https://www.facebook.com/DragonConHotelConnection/):
2019 HOST HOTEL AVAILABILITY UPDATE!!!
The Westin goes on sale in 40 minutes!! (9 am Wednesday September 5th). Call 1-800-937-8461 to book. There is NO online booking at this time, and the local number cannot book in the DC rate block.
They will take one night's deposit at booking. Expect this to be around $300, including taxes. Once someone gets an exact amount, please tell us so we can update this post.
Good luck!!
Note that they require a four night stay. (eta: 2 night deposit required, not one as quoted above)

eta: Put in calendar links, but note that the membership price hike date is a rumored confirmed one. Will update when I get the actual date.
Update: $85 through 9/21/2018

I called for some information and the double queen bed rooms are sold out. The rate is $249 per night with 16.9% tax and a $5 per day hotel fee... and they take TWO night's deposit at booking, not one. No penalties if you cancel the reservation by August 1, 2019.

Thanks for the input. I updated the post above. Apparently there were glitches in the process this morning for those trying for the Westin.

Marriott went live this morning! The website sucked but I was able to book a room with two doubles via phone (which was way easier than I expected). Anyways, I can officially say that I'm going to my very first DragonCon!

Thanks, I'm definitely looking forward to it! I've seen so many videos on Youtube and it looks like the Marriott is the place to be :)

Forum Housekeeping~merged this topic with the existing one.
And, I am going! **Raises hand**
No Hilton legacy here, and I am not giving up my Hyatt legacy ;)
I know that any legacy is a nice thing to have, It's one of the reasons we keep going. We got super lucky when we got ours. Good luck!
I did do dinner with some forum members last year, and it was a blast. Closer to Con, maybe we can make something happen. I love Dragon Con!

Alright just officially booked my flights for DragonCon! It's my first time going and it will also be my first time going solo! Not gonna lie I'm sort of nervous since I've never "technically" went solo for a con (I usually have at least someone staying with me at the hotel) so if anyone wants to hang, let me know!

I went solo to my first DragonCon as well and ended up having a blast! Your nervousness will go away quickly when you get there and you will have a great time!
This is actually one of my favorite conventions to go to. I’ve been there twice by myself. I keep trying to get my husband to go. This years not going to be the year because we have other stuff going on but maybe next year. :)

Does anyone with Hilton or Hyatt legacy happen to have a specific DCon code on their confirmation email? If so, can you private message me?

So many great guests this year. And so many panels. I am only half way through the schedule, and my schedule is already jam-packed!
Karl Urban and Jack Quaid! Can't wait for The Boys panel.
This is the guest announcement by date:

One of my highlights so far was that we got to see the Batman and Bill documentary with a Q&A with Athena Finger afterwards. The film was wonderful and eye-opening.

Anyone have any pointers for getting a hotel room next year?

I had an AMAZING time at DragonCon! The only thing that sucked was that I didn't get the t-shirt I wanted. They sold out of the black 2XL T's on day 2!
I got to meet Marc Singer and Jane Badler from "V" who were equally awesome, and their panel was great! I was dressed as Morpheus from the Matrix and Jane asked to take a photo with me and then put it on her Instagram stories!
Another highlight was meeting Jamie Chung from "the Gifted." She was beyond awesome and loved my cologne. After briefly chatting with her about the show, she gave me a BIG hug, squeezed me tight and said, "You smell so delicious!" The pics we took together were even better than that and made my entire con!
Seeing and meeting up with friends and doing cosplay shoots was amazing! I wish we could have spent more time hanging out, but the time we got was incredible! If I didn't have a con every other week, I'd be going through some serious post-con depression. I took a few vids and will try to have it done this week so it's actually relevant. I'll post it here.
Onward and upwards!

So this year was my very first Dragon Con and omg, I've been converted. The level of creativity is INSANE and everyone is so nice! The coolest part of Dragon Con (and most unique) is the cosplay parade and how the city really embraces it. If anyone hasn't been, you really got to put this con on your radar for 2020. You won't regret it!
