how long does volunteer registration stay open for?
I missed out on SDCC tickets but I have my fingers crossed for the resale. Would prefer to register after I know for certain if I have passes or not

iirc, they don't stay open for very long.
personally, i'd register for the volunteer position & email them with regrets if you don't get badges.

Has anyone volunteered for Nerd HQ before? I put in for it, but I'm trying to figure out what to expect.

Got this e-mail Sunday from Nerd HQ  :(

Did anybody get accepted as a volunteer?

Good Afternoon,
Thank you for applying to be a part of the Nerd Army as a volunteer for Nerd HQ 2013.  The outpouring of offers to volunteer for this year's event was both staggering and heartwarming and we truly appreciate your patience while the Volunteer Coordinating team reviewed all the submissions.
We thank you for your passion and interest, but as of this time we've filled all of the open volunteer positions.  Although we cannot add you to the ranks of the Nerd Army this year, you can still help expand the Nerdolution by spreading the word about The Nerd Machine, participating in the #NerdHQ festivities at SDCC, and by continuing to be an awesome example of what it means to be a NERD each and every day.
Thank you again for your unwavering support and passion.
Viva La Nerdolution!!!!!!

I was also rejected, along with two of my friends who applied. I'm thinking enough people who didn't have Comic Con tickets applied and they must have staffed Nerd HQ with those who has less conflicting schedules?

I've seen a few friends on FB/Twitter mention rejections as well.

One of my friends has been accepted the last few years and she was telling me basically at this point they get enough applications to accept only people who are available like all day, everyday with no other commitments.  I thought about volunteering, but I knew I would get rejected so I'll just go enjoy it as a fan.

It sucks, but I totally understand their perspective.

I can understand that too, especially since people who might have SDCC badges are trying to commit to volunteering without a schedule. I might say, well yeah right now I can do Saturday from 3-6 but once that schedule is released....

It makes sense, they know they will get enough people who can commit to all days, it sorta like what expect from travel planners when they are filling rooms requests. They are going fill the requests for the most days first and then fill in the rest with single day requests , it only makes sense. Every event available has become a hot ticket :D , even volunteering
