Yep. Interesting they chose Monday as the closing day, especially when you consider that Sunday is the travel-back-home day for many people.

Yes...at first I thought maybe it was the Easter weekend, but Easter is April 21, 2019.  And it is too late for Spring Break, sooo, I don't know.  It is odd.
It is 2024, and I am still asking...where's my flyin' car??!! @fannishmarcia

It probably has to do with availability of the convention center.

Chicago eh? Didn't see that coming. I'll wait until if it ever returns to Anaheim.

I thought typo but it's been long enough since the announcement where I'm sure they would've corrected it by now. Then I thought Easter but yes that's April 21, 2019. Spring Break? Well as someone who works in education and gets a "Spring Break" that's a possibility but there is no uniform "Spring Break" however the majority are connected to Easter ... Spring Break starts or ends with Easter so that actually rules out most Spring Breaks. IDK, I guess they expect us all to play hooky from work!  :-"

This is possibly my first Celebration, how hard is it typically to get a good hotel?  Is it a similar system to SDCC?
Also same question about tickets?

Depends where you are in the country! In Arizona we've always had March spring breaks.. most semester-system University's as well.

I mean any break is a good break, but moreso when it aligns with a con you're wanting to attend ;)

GOOD: Other Celebrations, the hotels weren't linked to a ticket purchase.

BAD: Last SW, hotels opened the day the news was announced, so expect that OnPeak link to open soon without an email announcement.

5 days is definitely confirmed -- SWC replied to a comment on their announcement asking if it was really 5 days.

A 5 day convention is definitely going to have at least 3 weekdays, so I don't think ending on a Monday is any more odd than, say, starting on a Wednesday. If anything, ending on a Monday makes more sense because then they get to include both weekend days as full days.

Another new to Celebration question.  Looks like there was $700 VIP tickets for the last one.  Anyone get those before and if so what were your thoughts on if it was worth it?

They're helpful if you like panels and exclusives. You get nice reserved seats for any panel and only have to show up a reasonable bit before the panel vs camping out. You get early access (30 minutes) to the convention floor so you get to hit a few booths before the mad rush. However this benefit does not work for places that do lottery such as Funko. Their lottery process supercedes this. It works for those booths that are the more traditional first come first serve.
